The new cactus-Blue Gipsy Woman
The New Cactus Band, led by Duane Hitchings, released one album (Son Of Cactus) and featured nobody of the original Cactus. Mike Pinera, formerly of Blues Image and Iron Butterfly, came in on guitar, along with Roland Robinson on bass and Jerry Norris on drums. The band then toured live in the Midwest and on the East Coast in mid 1973 with Captain Beyond drummer Bobby Caldwell and former Gregg Allman bass player Charlie Souza. In the Deep Woods American Movie part 5
The French version of the magazine FHM gave the film a rating of four stars out of five, stating that for a debut feature, it was "brilliant".[7] A review in Télérama gave the film two stars out of five, stating suggesting that the film educed unintentional laughter.[7] Allrovi gave the film three stars out of five, comparing Deep in the Woods to the work of Dario Argento. The review went on to suggest that the style was so overwhelming that it covered the film's plot holes.[8] Film4 referred to the film as slick and well crafted but "sadly lacks any convincing tension or threatening atmosphere. A prime example of style over content.- published: 28 Oct 2013

A.R. & Machines -- Aqua a) every raindrop longs for the sea .1973
A.R. & Machines -- A. R. IV [GER | 1973] | Prog Rock | Krautrock This albums is clearly a lost classic that figures among the best recordings offered by German progressive rock. It features two long improvised compositions including a vast array of instruments and groovy, jazzy rhythms put into a spaced out rocking trip. "Vita" is a sumptuous orchestral track dominated by Reichel's typical bluesy, almost funky and cyclical / delay guitar workouts. The accompaniment combines excellent exotic percussion parts with solo flute / sax lines. The acid fuzz guitar of Reichel provides an eloquent, propulsive jazzy rock mantra. "Aqua" starts with a tranquil atmospheric, dreamy-like introduction then progressively goes into a luminous, colourful happy semi-folk and bluesy- kraut jamming with lot of patterns and clear guitar solos. Just imagine something between Agitation Free, Embryo, Manuel Gottsching with a gentle eastern jazzy pop dimension. Eclectic, extremely complex prog/ psych obscurity, full of excellent kraut-improvisations. A very ambitious project. (AllRovi) A Vita a. Cave Explorers and Birdmen 5:25 b. The Cosmic Jokers - Cosmic Joy b .1973
The Cosmic Jokers -- The Cosmic Jokers [GER | 1973] | Prog Rock | Krautrock The first of Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser's exploitive cosmic space rock albums is also the best, and certainly kicks the seat out of the many jam bands that arose in the '90s. Unlike most "super groups" who collapse under the weight of their own hubris, the Cosmic Jokers, who were never really a proper group anyway, almost improve upon the sound of their precursors, namely Manuel Gottsching and Klaus Schulze from acid-jam-supreme Ash Ra Tempel, and Jurgen Dollase and Harald Grosskopf from blitzkrieg psychedelic Wallenstein. Structurally, the record is similar to those vintage Ash Ra Tempel albums, with two sidelong suites, the first side representing the peak of the acid freakout and the second side more relaxed, acting as the chill out later in the trip. Thus, the first side, "&Galactic; Joke," has more emphasis on Gottsching's freaked-out guitar, as the music slowly builds to full phased-out fury and then subsides and builds again. The flip side, "Cosmic Joke," is mellower, though no less improvised as it travels with Schulze's keyboard washes at the forefront into deepest space on a similarly slow ebb and flow. The effects are laid on much thicker than on a normal Ash Ra effort, especially on this second track, enhancing the sci-fi aspects as the mixing board of Dieter Dierks adds another dimension to the sound. Unlike later Cosmic Jokers records, where vocals were added in, this album is completely instrumental, letting the music stand by itself. (AllRovi) A Galactic Joke B Cosmic Joy Members: Dieter Dierks, Harald Grosskopf, Jürgen Dollase, Klaus Schulze, Manuel Göttsching- published: 04 Jan 2014

BLISS (Ray Lawrence, 1985)
BLISS
Dir: Ray Lawrence, 1985.
129 min. Australia.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 12TH – 10PM
FRIDAY, JANUARY 18TH – 10PM
Coarsing with eye-popping visuals, lacerating gags and meticulously choreographed set pieces, Bliss is unlike any film you’ve ever seen before. (That said: if Monty Python, Don DeLillo and The Wall crawled into an unholy pit and commingled, their spawn might begin to scrape its surface.)
Australian director Ray Lawrence’s audacious avant-comedy follows Harry (Barry Otto), a chain-smoking ad exec who dies for four minutes, only to return to life and find things a little... off. As he tries to right his firm’s wrongs before it’s too late, he uncovers an affair his wife (Lynette Curran) is having with his business partner, a drug ring lorded over by his teenage son, and the weirdly comforting likelihood that he never came back - he’s just in Hell.
Co-written by satirist Peter Carey (based on his novel of the same name), Bliss cost Lawrence the director’s seat for 16 years, a cine-grenade that first detonated at Cannes 1985; over 400 people walked out. Spectacle is pleased to present the original director’s cut of this long-censored cult classic.
“It's an interesting twist on the many films in which dying brings beneficence; here, it's just the opposite. Director Ray Lawrence milks the absurdity of the surreal situations for laughs and pathos in a take-no-prisoners style that challenges audiences' tolerance for eccentricity.” - Michael Betzold, AllRovi
“The filmgoer is subjected to the most indelicate scenes of hellish living: bellies being ripped open, surgically, with the parts billowing out; ugly insects crawling over a person; fornication in a restaurant. During some short intervals, words and phrases become unintelligible. If nothing else, this film is different.” - Richard F. Shepard, The New York Times
“Part surrealist comedy and part mid-life crisis drama, its madcap energy and anarchic intelligence put it in a class of its own.” - TimeOut New York
