BTC City

BTC City is a shopping mall, sports, entertainment and business area in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with more than 500 shops. It is one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in Europe. Most of the shops are located at the official address 152 Šmartno Street (Slovene: Šmartinska cesta 152, Ljubljana.

History

BTC City Ljubljana

BTC City Ljubljana (UCI team code: BTC) is a professional cycling team based in Slovenia, which competes in elite road bicycle racing events such as the UCI Women's Road World Cup.

Team history

At the end of the teams first season in 2014 the Slovenian Cycling Federation awarded the team a prise for their role in the development of cycling in Slovenia, as well as, for the teams achievements in its first year - culminating in qualifying for the 2014 World Team Time Trial championships.

City

A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.

Origins

There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana (Slovene: [ljuˈbljàːna];[luˈblàːna], also known by other alternative names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. During antiquity, it was the site of a Roman city called Emona. It was under Habsburg rule from the Middle Ages until the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918.

Situated at the middle of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, it was the historical capital of Carniola, a Slovene-inhabited part of the Habsburg Monarchy, and it has been the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center of independent Slovenia since 1991. Its central geographic location within Slovenia, transport connections, concentration of industry, scientific and research institutions and cultural tradition are contributing factors to its leading position.
