The judges ruled that skin color was reasonable grounds on which to carry out ID checks. The sentence confirmed for the first time the existence and practice of racial profiling in Germany.

The film is set in 1905, in a time of feverish revolutionary underground activity in Poland partitioned between three neighbours. All the characters are committed anarchists. The bomb maker puts an invention together to place it at the disposal of young inexperienced terrorists fighting against Tsarist oppression. The story follows the passing of this bomb from anarchist to anarchist as several attempts are made on the life of Tsarist governor general, until, at the end, it is effectively and harmlessly defused by a bomb expert. The presence of the bomb has a destroying effect on all of the Polish revolutionaries, they either die or breakdown.

Pakistani Teenage Activist Malala Yousafzai Tells Her Story To John Stewart

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani teenage activist shot by the Taliban and who is tipped as Nobel Peace Prize contender, talked with comedian John Stewart on his satirical news program "The Daily Show" on Tuesday (October 8). The 16-year-old, who was shot in the head by the Taliban exactly a year ago on October 9th for demanding education for girls, gave a speech at the United Nations in July saying she would not bow to "terrorists" who thought they could silence her. The saga of her recovery from the attempted assassination and her promotion of women's education and peace has tipped her as a favorite for the peace prize among experts and betting agencies. This week her book, which tells her story and the story of the Taliban's control of the Swat Valley in northern Pakistan, was released. "We are human beings and this is the part of our human nature -- that we don't learn the importance of anything until it is snatched from our hands. And when in Pakistan we were stopped from going to school, at that time I realized that education is very important and education is the power for women and that's why the terrorists are afraid of education," Malala told Stewart as they discussed her book, "I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban." The usually sarcastic and humorous Stewart was sympathetic and serious in his discussion with Malala, though he managed to pepper the discussion with a few jokes. "Our freedom was taken from us, the women's freedom," said Malala explained about life under the Taliban, which took control of her native Swat Valley in 2004. "We were just kept imprisoned. We were just limited to the four walls of our house. Women's rights were denied at that time and that's why I spoke. Because I believe in equality and I believe there is no difference between a man and a woman. I even believe that a women is more powerful than a man," she said. "Whoa, wait, whoa, what? You know, Malala, this was going so well. You were doing so beautifully and then suddenly, bam!" joked the Comedy Central host. When Malala went to describe an inner dialogue she had about how she might confront the Taliban with a peaceful rebuke after she learned they had threatened her life, Stewart joked he wanted to adopt her. "I know your father is backstage and he's very proud of you, but would he be mad if I adopted you because you sure are swell?" said Stewart with smile. This week, the Nobel accolades in Stockholm will go also to medicine, physics, chemistry and economics, while Oslo will name the peace prize winner on Friday (October 11). The annual prizes created in the will of dynamite tycoon Alfred Nobel were cut by 20 percent to 8 million crowns ($1.20 million USD) last year as returns on its roughly $450 million (USD) fund fell amid years of global financial downturn.

Doctors say Bulatov has numerous cuts but no life-threatening injuries. His AutoMaidan group used cars to ferry supplies to protesters and visit the residences of Ukraine's leaders accused of inciting violence. In Kyiv demonstrators hold President Yanukovych responsible for attacks on their protests and are sceptical of his decision to go on sick leave. "He lacks the willpower to tell the people personally: 'I made a mistake, I was wrong, this was terrible, these crimes must be punished'. He lacked the willpower... he pretended to be sick," said one protester in Independence Square. The opposition say seven people have died in the protests. One activist's body was found dumped in a forest, not far from where Bulatov was found alive. Baraka was a leading force in the black arts movement of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1963 he published "Blues People: Negro Music in White America," known as the first major history of black music to be written by an African American. A year later he published a collection of poetry titled "The Dead Lecturer" and won an Obie Award for his play, "Dutchman." After the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965 he moved to Harlem and founded the Black Arts Repertory Theater. In the late 1960s, Baraka moved back to his hometown of Newark and began focusing more on political organizing, prompting the FBI to identify him as "the person who will probably emerge as the leader of the pan-African movement in the United States." Baraka continued writing and performing poetry up until his hospitalization late last year, leaving behind a body of work that greatly influenced a younger generation of hip-hop artists and slam poets. We are joined by four of Baraka's longtime comrades and friends: Sonia Sanchez, a renowned writer, poet, playwright and activist; Felipe Luciano, a poet, activist, journalist and writer who was an original member of the poetry and musical group The Last Poets; Komozi Woodard, a professor of history at Sarah Lawrence College and author of "A Nation Within a Nation: Amiri Baraka and Black Power Politics"; and Larry Hamm, chairman of the People's Organization for Progress in Newark, New Jersey.
