Totnes buries street victim Michael as calls grow to help homeless through the winter
LOCAL PEOPLE have turned out to pay their final respects to Michael Gething, following his cold and lonely death on the streets of Totnes last month. Mr Gething, who died of hypothermia in an alleyway next to the Methodist Church on 4 November, was carried by mourners during a moving and poignant procession. Mr Gething, 42, had been living in the town for about 18 months, after leaving his hometown of Plymouth, where he had been subjected to beatings by drunk passers-by. As the coffin made its way through the town, the procession paused by the spot where he died and at the garden by the Arcturus Centre, where Graham Walker had been raising funds for the funeral and the homeless during a 48-hour vigil. Undertaker Ru Callender from the Green Funeral Company said: "I hope people might put their judgements aside about what life on the streets is like, and what people who live on the streets are like. John Macadie, owner of the Red Wizard café, had helped arrange the ceremony and called on the local authorities to act now to ensure there are no more deaths on Totnes streets. "Three people ...

The Night Riviera | Paddington - Penzance with 57605 'Totnes Castle' 06/08/2012
On the 06/08/2012 me and a few friends went on a camping trip to Cornwall, using the Night Riviera sleeper operated by First Great Western to get there. In this video you'll see footage of the train arriving at London Paddington hauled by 57603 'Tintagel Castle' from Old Oak Common depot ECS and then parts of the journey onwards to Penzance, topped by some close up shots of 57605 'Totnes Castle' at Penzance.

fire - seven stars hotel, totnes 2
part 2. this was about 10-15 mins later and they'd finally got their hoses up to the fire and started extinguishing it. still can't see any flames on the footage but you can see mix of steam and smoke coming from the upstairs window. apparently it was started by a chip pan in the kitchen.
