Fresh out of prison, Git rescues a former best friend (now living with Git's girlfriend) from a beating at the hands of loan sharks. He's now in trouble with the mob boss, Tom French, who sends Git to Cork with another debtor, Bunny Kelly, to find a guy named Frank Grogan, and take him to a man with a friendly face at a shack across a bog. It's a tougher assignment than it seems: Git's a novice, Bunny's prone to rash acts, Frank doesn't want to be found (and once he's found, he has no money), and maybe Tom's planning to murder Frank, which puts Git in a moral dilemma. Then, there's the long-ago disappearance of Sonny Mulligan. What's a decent and stand-up lad to do?

The Special Detective Unit (SDU) is a covert section of An Garda Síochána, Ireland's national Police service. The SDU is commonly known as 'The Special Branch' or just 'The Branch', and it falls under the remit of the Crime & Security Section or 'C3' within the force. The Special Detective Unit is responsible for the security of the state of Ireland, this includes duties like counter-terrorism, monitoring the activities of subversive, extremist and terrorist individuals and groups, specialist armed response to serious incidents, operation of the Witness Security Program, and the protection of VIPs. The Special Branch protects the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) and President of Ireland, other senior government officials, Ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats, as well as visiting foreign dignitaries. The Close Protection Officers (CPO) or 'Bodyguards' are highly trained, armed members of the unit, and have protected heads of state such as Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, President of the United States, Barack Obama and President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping on their respective visits to the Republic of Ireland. Ireland's specialist armed intervention unit, the Garda Síochána Emergency Response Unit (ERU), is part of the Special Detective Unit. The Emergency Response Unit is the Irish Police equivalent of a Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Team, and has been highly successful in combating Dissident Republican and extremist Islam terror organisations (examples being The IRA and Al Qaeda). The SDU and ERU work hand in hand with the National Surveillance Unit (NSU) - who gather intelligence and conduct surveillance on behalf of the Police force - and the Irish Defence Forces Directorate of Intelligence (G2) and Army Ranger Wing (ARW). The Special Detective Unit maintains a close working relationship with other western Intelligence Agencies, mainly the Security Service (MI5) and Secret Intelligence Service (SIS/MI6) from the United Kingdom, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from the United States, as well as similar law enforcement agencies across Europe. __ Every effort has been made to protect the identity of SDU & ERU members in this video. Vehicle registration plates have also been obscured. It is paramount to the safety of these people that their identity remains unknown, as they are part of a highly secretive unit who already avail of anonymity laws in court and in the media.
