Rafael Cavalcante is a Brazilian mixed martial artist currently competing in the Light Heavyweight division. He trains with Anderson Silva and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira as part of the Black House camp. He currently competes in Strikeforce, where he is the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion. He is known for his aggressive Muay Thai style and explosive knockout power, with all of his first eleven wins finished by stoppage due to strikes. His nickname "Feijão" means "bean" in Portuguese.
Rafael Cavalcante has fought in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight classes. From 2009 onward, he has focused solely on a career at light heavyweight.
On June six, 2009 Cavalcante tasted his first decisive defeat in a bout against Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields in which Cavalcante was knocked out by Kyle.
On May fifteenth, 2010 Cavalcante knocked out Antwain Britt at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery to become the number one contender for the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight championship.
Yoel Romero Palacio (born in April 30, 1977 in Pinar del Río) is a Cuban wrestler and mixed martial artist. He is currently signed with Strikeforce and competes in the Light Heavyweight division.
Palacio competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, representing his home nation of Cuba. He won the silver medal in the freestyle competition, losing to Adam Saitiev in the finals.
Palacio made his professional mixed martial arts debut in December 2009. Over the next two years, he amassed an undefeated record of 4-0 in various promotions throughout Germany and Poland.
He won his debut via TKO against Sascha Weinpolter. He then took on Polish standout Michał Fijałka in his second bout. After a dominating performance, Yoel won in the third round via TKO, which was at first ruled a controversial disqualification, due to a knee on the ground thrown by Romero. In 2011, he won his next two fights via TKO in the first round.
In July 2011, it was announced that Palacio had signed with the Strikeforce promotion. He made his debut against Rafael Cavalcante on September 10, 2011 at Strikeforce 36. He lost the fight via KO in the second round.
Daniel Jeffery Henderson, (born August 24, 1970) is an American mixed martial artist and former Olympic wrestler, who competes as a middleweight and light heavyweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion and was the last Welterweight 183 lb (83 kg; 13.1 st) and Middleweight 205 lb (93 kg; 14.6 st) champion of Pride Fighting Championships. He was the only mixed martial artist to concurrently hold two titles in two different weight classes in a major MMA promotion. Henderson is also the UFC 17 Middleweight Tournament Winner, the 1997 Brazil Open Lightweight Tournament Champion, the RINGS King of Kings 1999 Tournament Winner, and the 2005 PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix Champion.
Henderson also owns the Clinch Gear MMA apparel brand. As of May 2012, Henderson is ranked the #2 light heavyweight by Sherdog.
Dan Henderson was born in Downey, California and grew up in Apple Valley, California. He attended Victor Valley High School in Victorville, California, and earned medals at the California State Wrestling Championships in 1987 and 1988. He was a member of the 1987 Victor Valley High School wrestling team state champions. Henderson went on to wrestle at both Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State University, participating in the 1993 NCAA championships. He represented the United States in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Mike Kyle (born March 31, 1980) is an American mixed martial artist who competes as a light heavyweight and heavyweight. He fights primarily for Strikeforce and King of the Cage. He is the King of the Cage Light Heavyweight champion. He holds notable victories over Rafael Cavalcante, James Irvin, Tony Lopez, and Tsuyoshi Kohsaka.
Kyle made his UFC debut against Wes Sims winning via KO at 4:59 of round 1. Sims took the fight on less than a weeks notice after Kyle's original opponent got injured. Kyle dominated the entire first round and knocked Sims out at 4:59. Sims protested after the fight that Kyle had bitten him on the chest. During the post fight interview, a bite mark could clearly be seen on Sims' left pectoral muscle. This marks the first time a bite has ever happened in a UFC fight since its UFC 1 in 1993, when Gerard Gordeau bit Royce Gracie in the championship match. Kyle still denies any wrongdoing.
He lost his second fight in the promotion to Justin Eilers via KO in the first round. He then fought James Irvin at UFC 51: Super Saturday winning via KO in the first round.
Ryan DuWayne Bader (born June 7, 1983) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He was a cast member of Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir. On December 13, 2008, Bader defeated Vinicius Magalhães to win a contract with the UFC and the title of The Ultimate Fighter'.
Bader was born in Reno, Nevada. Bader entered mixed martial arts after a successful career in amateur wrestling. In high school (Robert McQueen High School), he won two state championships, being ranked as high as 4th in the country for wrestling.
At ASU, Bader was college teammates with former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and C.B. Dollaway. While attending Arizona State University, Bader was a three-time PAC-10 Champion winning titles in 2003, 2004, and 2006. He was also a two-time All American, placing 4th in 2004 as a sophomore and 7th in 2006 as a senior.
He began training at Arizona Combat Sports in early 2007.
Before Bader's departure from Arizona Combat Sports, his training partners consisted of TUF 7 contender and UFC middleweight C.B. Dollaway, All-American Wrestler Aaron Simpson, former UFC middleweight contender Thales Leites and former WEC Champion Jamie Varner.
