The background for our tale is the story of a more laborious problem: the problem of class. This appears as a specter haunting the Dickensian narrative Mayor-elect de Blasio used in his campaign, emphasizing inequalities within the city. But it also appears in the impending renegotiation of municipal labor contracts, and the broadening social recognition that stop and frisk is criminal along with the entire regime of mass incarceration.

Within the last few decades there has been a growing awareness of the import of anarchist political philosophy. This suggests that anarchist political philosophy is not really a political philosophy at all – it is something else. At the very least, it is considerably flexible, interdisciplinary, and open to multiple (often divergent) procedures for accessing truth. Anarchist political philosophy, it has been recently claimed, was always a form of “Cultural Studies.” I accept this thesis with some minor reservations.

Over the past month and a half, the International Direct Action Group (GADI) has committed a series of attacks against symbols of fascism. We offer no commentary and repost their communiques below:

We claim responsibility for the incendiary attack against a building of the French Army (the 35th Parachute Artillery Regiment in Tarbes, France) on the 27th of December 2013.

We also assume responsibility for the incendiary attack against the prison (in Tarbes, France) on the 25th of December 2013.

A reflection on the destiny of democracy today here in Athens is in some way disturbing, because it obliges to think the end of democracy in the very place where it was born. As a matter of fact, the hypothesis I would like to suggest is that the prevailing governamental paradigm in Europe today is not only non democratic, but that it cannot either be considered as political. I will try therefore to show that the European society today is no more a political society: it is something entirely new, for which we lack a proper terminology and we have therefore to invent a new strategy. 

Convicted of Possession of Incendiary Device Charges and Facing 30 Years

On Friday, February 7, 2014, the jury in the NATO 3 trial returned its verdicts against Brent Betterly, Jared Chase, and Brian Jacob Church. These three had been held in Cook County Jail in Chicago since they were arrested on May 16, 2012. They faced trumped up, politically motivated terrorism, conspiracy, and arson charges because of their perceived politics and political activities (mostly through the Occupy movement).

The closing arguments in the NATO 3 trial concluded today and the jury began deliberations to determine whether each of them will be convicted or acquitted on each of the seven charges they are facing. The jury was released for the evening at about 11pm and are scheduled to return at 9am tomorrow to continue deliberations. They must keep deliberating until they reach a verdict.
