Washington and Benedetto, undercover, are jumped by two masked and armed men instead of meeting with the contact mark-the mele ends with a gunshot to Washington's left shoulder area. The scene concludes with Benedetto frantically driving Neil to the closest hospital while he is bleeding heavily with his life on the line. Season 3: Kozoll left the show at the end of season two, replaced for the most part by Anthony Yerkovich (who later created Miami Vice after leaving Hill Street Blues at the end of this season) and David Milch.
