Plot

George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. Historically, Washington has been widely regarded as the "father of his country".[4]
Washington was born into the provincial gentry of Colonial Virginia; his wealthy planter family owned tobacco plantations and slaves. After both his father and older brother died when he was young, Washington became personally and professionally attached to the powerful William Fairfax, who promoted his career as a surveyor and soldier. Washington quickly became a senior officer in the colonial forces during the first stages of the French and Indian War. Chosen by the Second Continental Congress in 1775 to be commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in the American Revolution, Washington managed to force the British out of Boston in 1776, but was defeated and almost captured later that year when he lost New York City. After crossing the Delaware River in the dead of winter, he defeated the British in two battles, retook New Jersey and restored momentum to the Patriot cause. Because of his strategy, Revolutionary forces captured two major British armies at Saratoga in 1777 and Yorktown in 1781. Historians laud Washington for his selection and supervision of his generals, encouragement of morale and ability to hold together the army, coordination with the state governors and state militia units, relations with Congress and attention to supplies, logistics, and training. In battle, however, Washington was repeatedly outmaneuvered by British generals with larger armies. After victory had been finalized in 1783, Washington resigned as Commander-in-chief rather than seize power, proving his opposition to dictatorship and his commitment to American republicanism.
Dissatisfied with the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, in 1787 Washington presided over the Constitutional Convention that drafted the United States Constitution. Elected unanimously as the first President of the United States in 1789, he attempted to bring rival factions together to unify the nation. He supported Alexander Hamilton's programs to pay off all state and national debt, to implement an effective tax system and to create a national bank (despite opposition from Thomas Jefferson). Washington proclaimed the United States neutral in the wars raging in Europe after 1793. He avoided war with Great Britain and guaranteed a decade of peace and profitable trade by securing the Jay Treaty in 1795, despite intense opposition from the Jeffersonians. Although never officially joining the Federalist Party, he supported its programs. Washington's "Farewell Address" was an influential primer on republican virtue and a warning against partisanship, sectionalism, and involvement in foreign wars. He retired from the presidency in 1797 and returned to his home, Mount Vernon, and his domestic life where he managed a variety of enterprises. He freed all his slaves by his final will.
Washington had a vision of a great and powerful nation that would be built on republican lines using federal power. He sought to use the national government to preserve liberty, improve infrastructure, open the western lands, promote commerce, found a permanent capital, reduce regional tensions and promote a spirit of American nationalism.[5] At his death, Washington was hailed as "first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen".[6] The Federalists made him the symbol of their party but for many years, the Jeffersonians continued to distrust his influence and delayed building the Washington Monument. The Pentagon chief has ordered the USS George Washington aircraft carrier group, with its contingent of Navy cruisers and a destroyer ship, "to make best speed" to the Philippines.
The group, which carries with it 5,000 sailors and more than 80 aircraft, will aid in disaster relief in a country where as many as 10,000 people may have died and tens of thousands are now homeless, according to current US military estimates.
These US sailors will join some 90 US Marines who arrived on the ground Saturday. That number will grow as a Marine Expeditionary Unit, which is generally comprised of some 2,200 Marines, may soon be in route to the region.

Haiyan, which has been designated a super typhoon, has potentially affected more than 4.2 million people across 36 provinces in the Philippines, according to the Pentagon.
The crew of the USS George Washington carrier group was previously on a port visit in Hong Kong, but sailors were recalled from shore leave to speed the carrier group on its way.
The group is expected to arrive in the Philippines within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to Pentagon Press Secretary George Little. These ships and aircraft are tasked with providing humanitarian assistance, supplies, and medical care.
In the meantime, the Defense Department is working closely with the Philippine government to determine what additional US military assets may be required, Mr. Little says.
The US Marines on the ground in the Philippines are currently focused on search and rescue and helicopter lift support. They have also made use of the MV-22 Osprey, which along with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities has as an ability to quickly convert to a traditional fixed wing configuration that allows it to fly more quickly and cover more territory.
This has been key to the Marine Corps' relief effort on the ground, says Capt. Richard Ulsh, a Marine Corps spokesman at the Pentagon.
"There are a bunch of little islands we need to get to," he says, "and islanders that have to be moved over long distances." And this requires a modern form of island-hopping, Ulsh adds.
The Osprey can get into the most devastated and remote locations, because it can take off and land like a helicopter but fly like an airplane, Ulsh notes. "It can move more people and more goods faster and further."
The Ospreys are landing on devastated islands to deliver food and water and, after unloading the supplies, then ferrying injured islanders back to areas where they are able to receive care.
US troops are also bringing large bladders of fuel to create "fuel farms" for relief vehicles, as well as bladders full of water and water purification systems.
In humanitarian relief efforts, time is of the essence. "Responsiveness is key," Ulsh notes. "And the key to responsiveness is timeliness."

The group, which carries with it 5,000 sailors and more than 80 aircraft, will aid in disaster relief in a country where as many as 10,000 people may have died and tens of thousands are now homeless, according to current US military estimates.
These US sailors will join some 90 US Marines who arrived on the ground Saturday. That number will grow as a Marine Expeditionary Unit, which is generally comprised of some 2,200 Marines, may soon be in route to the region.

Haiyan, which has been designated a super typhoon, has potentially affected more than 4.2 million people across 36 provinces in the Philippines, according to the Pentagon.
The crew of the USS George Washington carrier group was previously on a port visit in Hong Kong, but sailors were recalled from shore leave to speed the carrier group on its way.
The group is expected to arrive in the Philippines within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to Pentagon Press Secretary George Little. These ships and aircraft are tasked with providing humanitarian assistance, supplies, and medical care.
In the meantime, the Defense Department is working closely with the Philippine government to determine what additional US military assets may be required, Mr. Little says.
The US Marines on the ground in the Philippines are currently focused on search and rescue and helicopter lift support. They have also made use of the MV-22 Osprey, which along with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities has as an ability to quickly convert to a traditional fixed wing configuration that allows it to fly more quickly and cover more territory.
This has been key to the Marine Corps' relief effort on the ground, says Capt. Richard Ulsh, a Marine Corps spokesman at the Pentagon.
"There are a bunch of little islands we need to get to," he says, "and islanders that have to be moved over long distances." And this requires a modern form of island-hopping, Ulsh adds.
The Osprey can get into the most devastated and remote locations, because it can take off and land like a helicopter but fly like an airplane, Ulsh notes. "It can move more people and more goods faster and further."
The Ospreys are landing on devastated islands to deliver food and water and, after unloading the supplies, then ferrying injured islanders back to areas where they are able to receive care.
US troops are also bringing large bladders of fuel to create "fuel farms" for relief vehicles, as well as bladders full of water and water purification systems.
In humanitarian relief efforts, time is of the essence. "Responsiveness is key," Ulsh notes. "And the key to responsiveness is timeliness."

George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731] – December 14, 1799) was the first President of the United States of America, serving from 1789 to 1797, and the dominant military and political leader of the United States from 1775 to 1799. He led the American victory over Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army from 1775 to 1783, and presided over the writing of the Constitution in 1787. Washington became the first president, by unanimous choice, and oversaw the creation of a strong, well-financed national government that maintained neutrality in the wars raging in Europe, suppressed rebellion, and won acceptance among Americans of all types. His leadership style established many forms and rituals of government that have been used since, such as using a cabinet system and delivering an inaugural address. Washington is universally regarded as the "Father of his country."

Glenn Edward Lee Beck (born February 10, 1964) is an American conservative radio host, vlogger, author, entrepreneur, political commentator and former television host. He hosts the Glenn Beck Program, a nationally syndicated talk-radio show that airs throughout the United States on Premiere Radio Networks. He formerly hosted the Glenn Beck television program, which ran from January 2006 to October 2008 on HLN and from January 2009 to June 2011 on the Fox News Channel. Beck has authored six New York Times–bestselling books. Beck is the founder and CEO of Mercury Radio Arts, a multimedia production company through which he produces content for radio, television, publishing, the stage, and the Internet. It was announced on April 6, 2011, that Beck would "transition off of his daily program" on Fox News later in the year but would team with Fox to "produce a slate of projects for FOX News Channel and FOX News' digital properties". Beck's last daily show on the network was June 30, 2011. In 2012, The Hollywood Reporter named Beck on its Digital Power Fifty list.

John William "Johnny" Carson (October 23, 1925 – January 23, 2005) was an American television host and comedian, known for thirty years as host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962–1992). Carson received six Emmy Awards, the Governor Award, and a 1985 Peabody Award. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987. Johnny Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.
Although his show was already successful by the end of the 1960s, during the 1970s Carson became an American icon and remained so until his retirement in 1992. He adopted a casual, conversational approach with extensive interaction with guests, an approach pioneered by Arthur Godfrey and previous Tonight Show hosts Steve Allen and Jack Paar. Late night hosts David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, and Jimmy Fallon have all cited Carson's influence on their late-night talk shows, which resemble his in format and tone.
Carson was born in Corning, Iowa, in the year 1925, to Homer Lloyd "Kit" Carson, a power company manager, and Ruth Hook Carson, who was of Irish descent. He grew up in the nearby towns of Avoca, Clarinda, and Red Oak in southwest Iowa before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of eight. At the age of twelve, Carson found a book on magic at a friend's house and immediately purchased a mail-order magician's kit. He debuted as "The Great Carsoni" at fourteen and was paid $3; many other performances at local picnics and country fairs followed.
