Paul George scored 36 points and Lance Stephenson added 22 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Indiana Pacers past the Los Angeles Clippers, 106-92 on Saturday night. Indiana (32-7) has won four straight, all by double digits, though missed a chance to win four in a row by 20 or more points for the first time in franchise history. The Pacers retained the league's top record and improved to 21-1 at home before heading West for a five-game road trip. Jamal Crawford scored 22 points for the Clippers, who had their five-game winning streak snapped. Blake Griffin had 19 points and DeAndre Jordan added 12 points and 17rebounds. After falling behind 13-6 in the first 4 1/2 minutes, the Pacers cracked down and gave up only 14 points over the next 14 minutes as they took a 45-27 lead. The Clippers never got closer than nine after that. Indiana did all that despite David West getting ejected at halftime for a flagrant 2 call and with his backup, Luis Scola, and All-Star center Roy Hibbert watching the entire fourth quarter from the bench. How did the Pacers do it? The same way they've won all season. They held the high-scoring Clippers to 39 percent shooting from the field, beat them on the glass, outscored them in the paint and thwarted the Clippers' momentum every time they started to get some. Indiana turned the tables quickly after those first few minutes. The Pacers answered Los Angeles' opening punch with a 12-2 spurt to take an 18-16 lead with 3:16 left in the first quarter. The Pacers never trailed again. Instead, they made it 28-18 after one quarter, extended the margin to 45-27 midway through the second and continued pulling away most of the night. The only real obstacle came after a replay review appeared to show West's elbow making contact with Griffin's head as the two scrapped for a loose ball after Griffin missed a layup at the buzzer. The Clippers scored eight straight in the third to get within 67-53 and got as close as 81-72 when Crawford hit an 18-footer with 10:26 to go. J.J. Hickson had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Lance Stephenson scored 23 for Indiana. The Pacers split a road back-to-back set after winning the night before in Sacramento. Paul George added 18 points and David West 16 for the Pacers, who lost for the eighth time in nine trips to Denver. Trailing by 19 at halftime, the Pacers got back in the game in a hurry, opening the third quarter with a 16-3 run in which Stephenson had seven of his points. The Nuggets responded with a 7-0 burst late in the third that helped them take a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter. Roy Hibbert, who was held to five points, became the second Pacers player to foul out after drawing his sixth foul with 3:19 remaining. HORRIBLE: Massive Multi Vehicle Pile Up, Multiple Victims on I-94 Indiana
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) — More than 40 vehicles, many of them semitrailers, collided amid whiteout conditions in a massive highway pileup that left three people dead and more than 20 others injured — at least one critically — in northwestern Indiana, police said Thursday.The pileup on Interstate 94 eastbound began Thursday afternoon near Michigan City, about 60 miles from Chicago, according to Indiana State Police, and at least one person was trapped in a vehicle for hours.I-94 is the main highway heading east from Chicago to Michigan and Indiana, and the main thoroughfare between the nation's third-largest city and Detroit. Traffic was backed up for hours in frigid snowy conditions, though state police said one westbound lane was open late Thursday.Photos of the scene showed semitrailers and mangled passenger vehicles jammed together the width of the highway near an overpass. Some passenger cars were sandwiched in the wreckage.National Weather Service meteorologist Evan Bentley said a band of heavy lake-effect snow was reported in the area at the time of the crash, dropping 1 to 2 inches of snow per hour and reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less — with some reports of visibility near zero.Scott Collins, 17, of Chesterton, Ind., was riding in a car with three other teens and saw the crash happen just behind them."One of the semis started sliding and I think it jackknifed in the middle of the road" and collided with another semi, he said. "After that happened, multiple semis locked up."He said a box truck got stuck on a guardrail and nearly went over into a waterway."We were pretty nervous," he said.Indiana State Police Sgt. Ann Wojas said 20 to 30 people were injured, including one with life-threatening injuries and another who was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital.Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City had received at least 10 patients, hospital president Dr. Jim Callaghan said. Six people from the accident were taken to IU Health LaPorte Hospital, a nursing supervisor there said. Porter Regional Hospital also received patients, Wojas said.The eastbound side was expected to be closed overnight as cranes and wreckers helped clear the scene, police said.Drivers stuck in the backup could only wait and try to stay warm as temperatures hovered around 10 degrees.Stacey Johnson, 37, had a family emergency and was traveling from western Michigan to Tennessee with her three sons, ages 3, 9 and 10. She told The Associated Press she'd researched road conditions before leaving because she was worried about the weather. She didn't know about the accident until traffic started crawling and then stopped.Nearly five hours later, long after she'd planned to stop for dinner, her car was still sitting on the westbound side of highway. A woman in the car next to hers noticed she had children with her and offered cereal, popcorn and fruit to tide the family over.Police said city buses were brought in to warm stranded motorists and transport the injured, though Johnson said she hadn't seen them. Northwest Indiana Timelapses
A collection of very recent timelapse sequences that I have been shooting around the Northwest Indiana area.
All sequences were shot on the 5D Mark II in RAW format, then edited in Lightroom, and compiled in After Effects.
For motion control, I used the Kessler Crane Cineslider, KC-8 Crane, and Revolution Head, along with the Oracle Controller.
All night shots were done in some pretty cold weather and everything held up great. Big thanks to everyone at Kessler Crane!

SHOCKING Massive Pile Up on I 94, Complete Interview, Multiple Victims in LaPorte County, Indiana
Indiana State Police now say 3 people are confirmed dead and more than 20 hurt following a massive pile-up on I-94 near Michigan City in LaPorte County. The accident happened in the eastbound lanes around mile marker 37. Matt Deitchley with INDOT says during the time of the accident, the area was experiencing "extreme whiteout conditions." Sgt. Ann Wojas with the Indiana State Police says two of the 20 people injured have life-threatening injuries. One was taken to an area hospital and the other was airlifted from the scene. Sgt. Wojas believes they have gotten everyone out of the wreckage, but they cannot be certain until all the vehicles are pulled out. Michigan City has provided two city buses, which are being used to transport injured motorist and passengers to area hospitals and for a warming station. Buses took people involved in the crash, but not injured, to the Michigan City City Hall. Food was waiting for them provided by local restaurants and community members. Earlier, LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan told FOX28 News that multiple cars were under semi-trucks that crews have not been able to reach. The coroner's office has called in teams from counties around the area. Troopers are asking people to avoid I-94. Eastbound traffic is being diverted at the Chesterton exit. Crews are working to get traffic that was already on the highway off the road. One lane is still open on westbound, but traffic maps show traffic is slow all the way back to New Buffalo. Indiana State Police say they expect I-94 to remain closed until at least Friday morning.- published: 24 Jan 2014

Lance Stephenson scored a career-high 28 points, Paul George added 25, and the Indiana Pacers beat the New York Knicks 117-89 on Thursday night. The Pacers have won nine straight at home, three in a row overall and still have the NBA's best record and the league's top home record (20-1). Indiana leads idle Miami by four games in the chase for the Eastern Conference's top seed. Carmelo Anthony had 18 of his 28 points in the first quarter to lead New York. J.R. Smith, who was benched in two of the previous four games, played 28 minutes and scored 12 points. The Knicks have lost two straight after winning five in a row. Indiana took control with an 11-1 run midway through the second quarter, then closed the first half on a 16-7 run to make it 63-48. New York never challenged again. The Pacers, the league's best defensive team, had one of its best offensive games of the season, too. It shot 50 percent from the field, was 10 of 23 on 3-pointers, finished with a season-low five turnovers and season best point total for the second straight game. The Pacers beat Sacramento 116-92 on Tuesday. Tuesday's game was supposed to be one of this week's marquee NBA matchups - a rematch of last spring's conference semifinals. New York came into the game as one of the league's hottest teams, and when Anthony opened the game with nine points in less than six minutes it looked like the hot streak would continue. Instead, Indiana stormed back. An 11-4 spurt wiped out New York's early eight-point lead and gave the Pacers a 28-26 advantage late in the first quarter. Anthony bailed out New York with a buzzer-beating 3 to give the Knicks a 31-30 lead at the end of one. After that, New York never had a chance. Indiana took charge with the first second-quarter run and pulled away with the second, finishing with a season best 63 first-half points - surpassing the 59 points they had in the first half Tuesday against the Kings. Indiana didn't stop. George scored 10 points in a 15-8 run to open the third quarter that gave Indiana a commanding 78-56 lead. The Knicks couldn't get closer than 16 the rest of the night. Tyson Chandler had 13 points and Raymond Felton added 12 for the Knicks, who lost Kenyon Martin in the second quarter and Amar'e Stoudemire in the third quarter - both with sprained left ankles.
