Farkle, or Farkel, is a dice game that has also been called or is similar to 1000/5000/10000, Cosmic Wimpout, Greed, Hot Dice, Squelch, Zilch, Zonk, or Darsh to name but a few. Its origins as a folk game are unknown, but it has been marketed commercially since 1982, since 1996 under the brand name Pocket Farkel by Legendary Games Inc. While the basic rules are well-established, there is a wide range of variation in both scoring and play, as described below.
Farkle is played by two or more players, with each player in succession having a turn at throwing the dice. Each player's turn results in a score, and the scores for each player accumulate to some winning total (usually 10,000).
Once a player has achieved a winning point total, each other player has one last turn to score enough points to surpass that high-score.
The following scores for single dice or combinations of dice are widely established, in that they are common to all or nearly all of the above-cited descriptions of farkle scoring.
Tom Vasel (born on September 8, 1976) is a well known podcaster and reviewer of board games. Vasel co-hosts a long-running and popular gaming podcast titled The Dice Tower, and as of 2011[update] has posted over 1200 reviews on the internet database BoardGameGeek.
As of August 2003[update], Vasel taught mathematics at the International Christian School in Uijeongbu. He assumed the role of Pastor of Uijongbu Baptist Church, succeeding Pastor Rick Kelley in March 2007. After leaving South Korea, he has worked as a teacher in Florida.
Since May 2005, Vasel has co-hosted The Dice Tower, a podcast about board games and wargames. Originally, Vasel represented players who prefer designer games, while Joe Steadman advocated for those who prefer wargames. Steadman left the show in May 2006 after the 50th episode. Vasel, hosting alone with occasional input from Sam Healey for a few shows, rearranged the format to include recorded segments by guest reviewers and players. Gradually Healey began to take a larger role and was eventually promoted to co-host. Healey has since left the show and been replaced by the show's voice-over man, Eric Summerer.
Wallace Maynard Cox (December 6, 1924 – February 15, 1973) was an American comedian and actor, particularly associated with the early years of television in the United States. He appeared in the U.S. television series Mr. Peepers (1952–1955), plus several other popular shows, and as a character actor in over 20 films. Wally Cox was the voice of the popular animated cartoon character Underdog. Although often cast as a meek milquetoast, he was actually strong and athletic. He married three times and was a close friend of Marlon Brando.
Cox was born in Detroit, Michigan. When he was 10, he moved with his divorced mother, mystery author Eleanor Atkinson, and a younger sister to Evanston, Illinois, where he became close friends with a neighborhood child, Marlon Brando. Cox's family moved frequently, eventually to Chicago, Illinois, then New York City, then back to Detroit, where he graduated from Denby High School.
During World War II Cox and his family returned to New York City, where he attended City College of New York. He next spent four months in the Army, and on his discharge attended New York University. He supported his invalid mother and sister by making and selling jewelry in a small shop and at parties, where he started doing comedy monologues. These would lead to regular performances at nightclubs, such as the Village Vanguard, beginning in December 1948. He became the roommate of Marlon Brando, who encouraged him to study acting with Stella Adler. Cox and Brando remained close friends for the rest of Cox's life, and Brando appeared unannounced at Cox's wake. Brando is also reported to have kept Cox's ashes in his bedroom and conversed with them nightly.
Though he never had a reason to leave them
But he made them look bad, made them look bad
Every second has a season, he tells them
But he made them look bad, made them look bad
Heal yourself
Heal yourself
The other one he solves their problems of costume
But he made them look bad, made them look bad
They've the mind to hide the blood that make their lines
But he made them look bad, made them look bad
Heal yourself
Heal yourself
If you really love me
You'd find me
Though he never had a reason to leave them
But he made them look bad, made them look bad
Every second has a season, he tells them
But he made them look bad, made them look bad
I'm free and I'm happy
I am free from your hatred
I've parted from the part
that I participated in
so I'm free it was easy
I know nothing of your hatred
I've known and shone the light
and the darkness abated
so I'm free
run skip jump play
my little boy is happy
look he's smiling because
he knows no fear... hear...
my mommy's calling me
and I'm running thru the fields
because I'm free...
every day in every way
I'm getting better and better and better
and better and better and better, etc
because there's no fear... here why
I can't tell you now cause
I'm runnin through the woods
and I just jumped a little bit higher...
cause I'm free
and that's the way he created me to be
I have turned from your hatred
I turned on the light
and there was nothing there that waited to get me
I've maintained falling on my face
For my own protection
My mistake was having placed my faith
In the wrong direction
Falling forward works
But only if you learn to fall
Backwards first, I am
I'm falling backwards again
I volunteer to figure this out here
As a way of knowing
Angels came, spread their legs and waved
As a way of showing
I will always ask
If you're always there to have my
Backwards I'm am
I'm falling backwards again
The music on the outside
Removes me from my insight
I have angels and
They're offering their eyes
I'm falling backwards, I am
I'm falling backwards again
The music on the outside
Removes me from my insight
The angels move from my side
And offer me their eyes
You're getting harder to remember
No, didn't get your stupid letter
So, this is getting weird
I better go
What, of this helpless, crazy talking
Enough of getting skinny
Doing lots of drugs
'Cause we've paid for our mistakes enough
Can we start over, I want to be new
If we could start over, I'd die into you
I promise to learn and to love what you give
If we could start over again
Trust that my heart has never hurt this much
'Cause I've never let it bleed enough
And I miss you
But I don't miss us
Can we start over, I want to be new
If we could start over, I'd die into you
I promise to learn and to love what I give
If we could start over again
You're getting harder to remember
No, didn't get your stupid letter
So, this is getting weird
I better go
Can we start over, I want to be new
If we could start over, I'd die into you
I promise to learn and to love what you give
If we could start over again
Can we start over, I can't see your face
If we could start over, I'd try to behave
I live in a house, but without any doors
So can I come over to yours
Behind every "yes" is a thousand "no's"
That's 999, only one more to go
One more to go
Invisible swords and ropes with rings
Invisible chords and strings
Just another puppet on a wire
I carry water in my hands
I run along miles of sand
We were making X's where you eyes were
There's a part of me
That blames you
There's a part of me
That knows you make me safe
There's a part of me
That hates you
For loving me that way
Another 100, 000 years of rope
Is tying us to the bedpost
Everybody learns to fly in circles
Why is this so obvious
To everyone around, but us
Everybody loves to watch a circus
There's a part of me
That blames you
There's a part of me
That knows you make me safe
There's a part of me
That hates you
For loving me that way
I'm gonna make a wish
To the giver of gifts
Please just let me go
Please just let me go
Please just let me go
Please just let me go
There's a part of me
That blames you
There's a part of me
That knows you make me safe
There's a part of me
That hates you
For loving me that way
There's a part of me
That blames you
There's a part of me
That knows you make me safe
There's a part of me
That hates you
For loving me that way
How about this, how about this
We'll start this again
I'll be you, you be me
And try to pretend
That you're in an earthquake
But these walls follow you outside
You're trying to lay down
But something keeps you upright
Should've run, but I can't
Should've come, but I can't
Gave you all that I had
You said that you love me
Could've tried, but I won't
Could've lied, but I won't
Could've cried, but I don't
You said that you love me
You said that you love me
You said that you
Didn't work, you're disturbed
I know that you are
Better yet, let's pretend
That everything's dark
Without any daylight
Just silence breaking silence
Should've run, but I can't
Should've come, but I can't
Gave you all that I had
You said that you love me
Could've tried, but I won't
Could've lied, but I won't
Could've cried, but I don't
You said that you love me
I don't want to walk out
I don't want to break down
I'll be holding my ground
Below and above me
You said that you love me
You said that you love me
Without any motion
Should've run, but I can't
Should've come, but I can't
Gave you all that I had
You said that you love me
Could've tried, but I won't
Could've lied, but I won't
Could've cried, but I don't
You said that you love me
I don't want to walk out
I don't want to break down
I'll be holding my ground
Below and above me
You said that you love me
How much can we know
how far can we go
it's making me crazy
it's making me crazy
but it's always amazing
how much can we choose
how much do we lose
it's making me crazy
it's making me crazy
but it's always amazing
a pair of sick hands
try to tear at their arms
a lunatic lands
in the back of a car crash
taking my time
but i'm taking my choice back
everyone's running
but it's always amazing
it's always amazing
how long can we wait
how much can we take
i don't know if everything has a reason
i don't know that i'm sure
but i'm sure that i know the feeling
it's making me crazy
it's making me crazy
but it's always amazing
but it's always amazing
oh, the great indoors
oh, the great indoors
how much can we know
how far can we go
i'm running
i don't know if everything has a reason
i don't know that i'm sure
but i'm sure that i know the feeling
it's making me crazy
it's making me crazy
but it's always amazing
but it's always amazing
a pair of sick hands
try to tear at their arms
a lunatic lands
in the back of a car crash
taking my time
but i'm taking my life back
everything shines
through the slit in the fabric
helping me to
run through you.
but it's always amazing
Remember all the stars we were going to hang upon the walls
And a moon, yeah we were going to hang a moon
The glow in the dark kind, who said I would always find
My place under the sky, but now my star has died
Unlock Me
Unlock Me
I would break what can not break
I would make what can't be made
To remember what I have never known
And remember that big fence we were going to put around the yard
It was going to keep the neighbors to themselves
And I started to run away, but not from my enemies
For I have none of them, I'm running from my friends
Unlock Me
Unlock Me
I would break what can not break
I would make what can't be made
To remember what I have never known
If I could
I would give up everything
And forget my face and name
To remember what I have never known
I would break what can not break
I would make what can't be made
To remember what I have never known
If I could
I would give up everything
And forget my face and name
To remember what I have never known
Never known
God I'm gonna miss this home
Cause I'm not gonna be here long
Watch me try to get my kicks on
Before this whole shithouse explodes
Why does everything suck me in
How does everyone make it fit in the end
There is nothing here
I should disappear
Am I sick or sick of myself
When will I become someone else
God I'm gonna miss the place
I'll find myself a brand new face
Confiscate the lies and colors
Of the whole damn human race
Why does everyone shut me out
It's not about me
It's always about something else
There is nothing here
I could disappear
Am I sick or sick of myself
When will I become someone else
I'm what I've created
I hate being hated
I've waited for changes
But they never come
There is nothing here
I could disappear
Am I sick or sick of myself
When will I become someone else
Is this me, cause I just can't tell
I am Tomorrow's Man
Try to understand
What I'm not
And what I am
I'm hiding like a boy
But staring like a man
Star above the sea
I live to watch it breathe
Make you make-believe
And tell you how to be
Little girl dance for me
Little girl dance for me
And slowly move your hips
In low circles slowly
Little girl dance for me
Little girl dance
Don't try running
I know where you'll hide
Don't start lying
I can read your mind
Just do everything I taught you to
Got you where I want you
Don't cry baby
When you can't resist
Nothing you can say
Will get you out of this
There's not anything that you can do
Got you where I want you
Try to understand
Who I'm not
And who I am
I'm strong enough to run
But not enough to stand
I've collected moods
The one everybody knows
Holding onto some
But some I'm letting go
Little girl dance for me
Little girl dance for me
And separate your knees
Like you're on a Harley
Little girl dance for me
God damn it
Like there is no one on the planet
Don't try running
I know where you'll hide
Don't start lying
I can read your mind
Just do everything I taught you to
Got you where I want you
Don't cry baby
When you can't resist
Nothing you can say
Will get you out of this
There's not anything that you can do
Got you where I want you
I'm ready to wait in some dark corner
Is it getting late or just getting warmer
Let's play, let's play, my lady
Right now, Right now
Don't try running
I know where you'll hide
Don't start lying
I can read your mind
Just do everything I taught you to
Got you where I want you
Don't cry baby
When you can't resist
Nothing you can say
Will get you out of this
There's not anything that you can do
When the sun burns my eyes
This is my paradise
When my love makes me lie
This is my paradise
I can't wait to meet you
I can't wait to meet you
When the stars froze in size
This is my paradise
When the laws make me wise
This is my paradise
I can't wait to meet you
