Plot: Annual presentation of awards of excellence in daytime drama, as voted on by readers of Soap Opera Digest magazine. Categories include Best Drama, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Couple, Storyline, etc. Also a feature of this awards telecast was a look back at several soaps that had left the airwaves during the 25 years that Soap Opera Digest has been in publication. Two particular shows were saluted with clips in this segment, Sunset Beach and Another World, as both had been canceled in the past year.

Plot: A federal judge is sent to a town to preside in a murder trial. He discovers that the defendant, a poor Mexican, is accused of killing the brother of a powerful landowner, and the townspeople are in no mood for the niceties of a trial. The judge, who has come to believe the accused is innocent of the murder, has to find the real killer before the defendant is railroaded to the gallows.

Plot: A village girl comes to the fork in the road of life and chooses the path that leads to the attractions of the city. The next morning her father and the country lad who first loved her find her dead body down by the sea.
