Hey There! - From Pajama Game! 101 Strings Orchestras & Mantovani!
"Hey There" is a show tune from the musical play
The Pajama Game, written by Richard Adler and
Jerry Ross. It was published in 1954.
It was subsequently recorded by a number of artists.
The recording by Rosemary Clooney reached #1 on
Billboard's chart in 1954. Another version was also
recorded about the same time by Sammy Davis, Jr.,
reaching #16 on Billboard's retail chart. The song
(counting all recorded versions) also reached #1
on the Cash Box chart in 1954.
In the context of the show, Sid sings it to a recording
device, telling himself that he's foolish to continue his
advances to Babe. He plays the tape back, and after
responding to his own comments, sings a duet with
himself.

A popular edit of the single is in Only Fools and Horses, in the episode "Tea for Three", when Uncle Albert (played by Buster Merryfield) singles the song (although adding in the words "Ada", the name of his wife) in the talent contest at their local pub, the Nags Head. He later tells Rodney that he won the talent contest, much to his horror.

(words in brackets are SPOKEN - Normal Guys - of course
change the gender)
Lately when I'm in my room all by myself
In the solitary gloom I call to myself
Hey there, you with the stars in your eyes
Love never made a fool of you, you used to be too wise
Hey there, you on that high-flyin' cloud
Though he won't throw a crumb to you, you think some day he'll come
to you.
Better forget him, him with his nose in the air
He has you dancin' on a string, break it and he won't care!
Won't you take this advice I hand you like a mother
Or are you not seein' things too clear
Are you too much in love to hear
Is it all goin' in one ear and out the other!
Hey there, you with the stars in your eyes
Love never made a fool of you (Not until now)
You used to be too wise (Yes, I was once)
Will you take this advice I hand you like a mother
Or am I not seein' things too clear
Are you just too far gone to hear
Is it all goin' in one ear and out the other!

It was with great anticipation that I began viewing
the videos by Professor Howdy on YouTube and
his two Blogs!
The Professor is simply amazing at retelling an
old story in a contemporary manner with exquisite
Classical Music accompanied with H.D. Photographs
& sprinkled with alluring, charming, classy and
bewitching Video Clips! Rather than containing
simply one music selection, the Professor includes
up to four popular music sensations on each 15
minute video!
The High Definition photographs were beautiful
beyond words and supplemented with those was
the most heavenly music one will ever hear! With
a creative genius' ability to carry us around the
globe and to fall unrestrainedly in love with every
beautiful creature shown, the Professor lifts &
relaxes not only our spirits but our emotions as
well - This is penned by a spurious punster!
Each viewer may substitute his or herself
into these video stories and become part
of the rapturous novels. The male viewer
becomes the romancer of the beauty within
the ratiocination story while the female viewer
becomes the romanced interminably!
Each pulchritudinous video tells it own allegorical
fifteen minute novel with statuesque and emblematic
awareness! Remember that his Music Videos are
defined as theater of the mind!
Only one with low intelligence quotient or attention
deficit will not be relaxed, cheered & entertained by
these astounding video novelettes. Medical studies
have shown that these videos even lower one's
blood pressure when needed.

Art City: Simplicity (opening titles)
National Gallery of Art
"A superb cinematic experience. I forgot I was watching an art documentary."
Starring: Agnes Martin; Richard Tuttle; John Baldessari; Robert Williams; Joan Snyder; Mike Bidlo; Amy Adler ; Carolyn Martin; Mat Gleason; Marcia Tucker; Dave Hickey.
Travelling around the country, Art City: Simplicity takes viewers on a revealing trip into the studios and lives of a group of singular artists. On a desert mesa outside Santa Fe, Richard Tuttle invents his mysterious and marvellously humble forms, made of wire, cardboard, wood. In Taos, Agnes Martin rhythmically repeats extremely simplified images. Near the Santa Monica surf, John Baldessari, aims for successful juxtapositions of photographs and text. In his North Hollywood living room, Robert Williams revels in surreal cartoon imagery. At a cabin in Woodstock, Joan Snyder refines her sensuous art amid a lush forest. Mike Bidlo salutes Duchamp in a SoHo Gallery, while on Sunset Boulevard, Amy Adler reclaims personal history through self-portraits. Through this group of memorable iconoclasts, the creative "act" is there to see and study. Along with writer Dave Hickey, and others, Simplicity addresses artists’ relations with the press, feelings about showing one’s work, distilling concepts into an essence, and what it means to succeed in the artworld. Music by Beck, Tom Waits, Charles Mingus, Count Basie, Ted Greene, Antonio Carlos Jobim.
