Build up to WW3 - U.S. will Sanction CHINA for BUYING IRAN OIL! The US State Department has revealed the list of 12 countries which may be subjected to American financial sanctions for failing to cut oil imports from Iran. The number of countries was mentioned earlier on Tuesday, as Washington announced a penalty waiver for Japan and 10 EU counties which complied with American demands and reduced their purchases. However, the names of the countries were not given. Four of the countries on America's anger list are among top 100 buyers of Iranian crude. They are China, India, South Korea and South Africa, with the first two being the two largest buyers. Also targeted by possible financial sanctions are Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Turkey. US President Barack Obama may order banks based in those countries and involved in oil trade with Iran to be cut off America's financial system. On the other hand, he may exempt some of them from sanctions, if US national security demands it. So America's allies like South Korea or Pakistan may dodge repercussions. Meanwhile China on Thursday slammed America's pressure on Iran's trading partners following the exemption of Japan and European countries from penalties. The People's Daily, the official newspaper of the ruling Communist Party, called the US policy misguided and selfish. "One stand-out feature of unilateralism is this: that one's own rules become the world's rules. Everyone must respect them, and if you don't, then you will be punished," the paper said in a commentary. The US is campaigning to cripple Iranian oil export as part of pressuring it into stopping uranium enrichment. In January the EU joined the sanctions with a six-month grace period, while Japan adopted a policy to reduce imports from Iran. Western countries say the Islamic Republic may be trying to build a nuclear weapon under the guise of its civilian nuclear program. Tehran rejects the allegations. Some counties including UN Security Council members Russia and China say no evidence of such intension is available and oppose economic sanctions against Iran, saying they fail to resolve the problem. The uncertainty of the situation over Iran has resulted in world oil price gradually climbing over the months. The IMF warned this week that if the flow of crude from the country is abruptly cut, the resulting price shock would deal a serious blow to the global economy. tags: news 2012 china us united states america oil buyer japan europe hong kong cut iranian imports foreign policy ww3 world war syria iran sanctions on economy banks bank hsbc of military exports currency forex washington white house super power 829speedy the unseen forces agenda end game unrest rt russia today- published: 17 Jan 2014

Tippoo's Tiger
The death of a young Englishman named Munro carried off by a man-eating tiger in 1792 was the inspiration for some of the strangest artefacts in the collections of any museum.
Munro was the son of Sir Hector Munro, one of the East India Company's generals. His death was seen by Tippoo, sultan of Mysore as divine retribution against the British invaders. He commissioned the famous mechanical toy depicting a tiger mauling its victim, which contained an organ to reproduce the appropriate roars and screams, as well as play a tune. It was certainly a peculiar idea for a palace entertainment but then Tippoo was no ordinary prince.
It was Tippoo's tenacity, military prowess and the adoption of the tiger as his personal symbol that earned him the title of the 'Tiger of Mysore' . Tippoo's father, Hyder Ali, a commander-in-chief who had usurped the throne of Mysore began a career of military expansion in South India. Together father and son involved the British in no less than four wars.
Tippoo succeeded the throne in a turbulent era when the European powers were seeing the rise of revolution, first in America and then in France. Tippoo's ambassadors visited the court of Louis XVI and received among other gifts this bust of the king. But French power in India was on the wane and Tippoo also sought allies in Turkey, Afghanistan and Iran and among other Indian rulers. The British east India Company had fielded some impressive generals and administrators notably Sir Robert Clive and Warren Hastings who defeated the French and made allies of powerful leaders like the Nazim of Hyderabad.
Anne Buddle
The British for decades, indeed centuries, had had commercial interests in India. Tippoo was obviously a native ruler and resented the intrusion, a) of a foreign power and, b) what is more, of the infidel Christians and he was a Muslim, and he determined to lay down his life to rid his territories of what he saw as a usurping power and therefore I think conflict was indeed inevitable.
Dr Rajnarayan Chandavarkar
Well the main reason the British gave for their successful conquest, was related to the superiority of their civilisation, their technology of warfare their state craft, and Tippoo in a sense undermined all these myths not only because he often had British armies on the run, partly because he was a great moderniser and had very competent armies, his light cavalry were always capable of harrying and indeed did harry British troops. For all those reasons he was the obverse in a sense of the way the British presented themselves.
In 1780 at a time of shifting alliances Haider and Tippoo marched against the British with a huge army. Lieutenant Colonel Bailey with a detachment of 3000 troops was cut off en route to join Munro's forces near Madras. The ensuing battle of Pollilur was a disaster for the British. Haider and Tippoo managed to concentrate their forces joining those of their French allies under Lally. They had superior numbers, their famous light cavalry, rockets and canon.
The battle I'm afraid was one of a number of incidences where the British didn't shine in military management and organisation. It's not easy to fight a battle in India when your command may be at Madras and your ultimate command is the company's offices in London. The question of distance is one thing but there were very real problems in direct lines of command. Hesitation and indecision did cost the British in fact at many points in this battle.
Tippoo immortalised his triumph at Pollilur in a series of painted murals in his place at Seringapatam. The artist captured wonderfully the moment when a Mysorean shell landed in the British ammunition wagon. To the great consternation of Bailey languishing in his palanquin whose expression captures the moment perfectly. Bailey himself was captured after the battle and died in Tippoo's jail. But the sultan's reputation as a cruel despot was probably in part the result of British propaganda.
I think Tippoo did become a British obsession partly because Tippoo fitted with the Companies ideals of Indian Kingship if you like. It was also important to present him as a zealot and as barbarous, of course he wasn't always kind to the British. I mean I don't know that he compares particularly badly with some of the things the British did in pacification the mutiny or some thing's they did when they took back Deli. He clearly was militarily ruthless and that necessarily entailed savagery, but I don't think it's particularly helpful to make a moral judgement of that kind.
No one would deny that 18th century warfare had its bloody elements and the Pollilur murals made frequent references to the gorier aspects of battle. Ten years later when Tippoo was defending Seringapatam against an imminent attack from the Governor General and Commander in Chief Lord Cornwallis, he prudently had the whole mural whitewashed over. But Tippoo wasn't merely a warrior, he was also a patron of the arts and a diplomat. This

SHIRAZI, SABA Saba Shirazi, a top Southern California publicist whose smile lit up lives, died in an auto accident on Thursday, July 1, 2010. She was 32. Born in Tehran, Iran, on December 7, 1977, to Habib Shirazi and Dokhy Sarem (deceased), Saba moved at age eight to Fair Oaks, California. She graduated from Bella Vista High School and then California State University, Sacramento with a B.A. in apparel marketing and design, quickly making a career in the publishing industry. She worked as marketing manager for Sacramento Magazine before moving to San Diego, where she helped launch Riviera magazine. She later joined Q&A; Marketing and helmed successful campaigns for clients Cirque du Soleil, Hermès and the Newport Beach Film Festival. At red carpets and galas, Saba always stood out for her signature style: chic, memorable, impeccable. Yet she never failed to deflect attention to her clients, colleagues and friends. Saba was an indefatigable hostess, making thoughtful introductions, taking a genuine interest in people and setting them at ease. Everything and everyone Saba touched was better off for it. Saba is survived by her sister, Usha Mutschler, brother-in-law Cary Mutschler, and her beloved nephew and niece, Arian and Bridgett. A Cardiff-by-the-Sea resident, Saba had another family in the design collective SoLo, where she worked for six years and fostered friendships, roots in the North County community and her own creative pursuits. The memorial to celebrate her life will be held at SoLo, 309 South Cedros Ave., Solana Beach, at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Surfrider Foundation, where a memorial fund has been established in Saba's name. 13th Congressional Debate
Matt Goetten and David Gill appeared before a panel of journalists and a live studio audience at Illinois Public Media on March 14th for a debate between the two Democratic candidates in the Illinois 13th Congressional District primary election. The debate aired live on WILL-TV and WILL-AM, and was webcast on WILL Online.
TRANSCRIPT:
I AM JIM MEADOWS, AND ON BEHALF OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF ILLINOIS, AND W.I.L.L. PUBLIC MEDIA, I WELCOME ALL OF YOU WATCHING AND LISTENING ON W.I.L.L. AND OTHER STATIONS CARRYING THIS DEBATE THROUGHOUT THE 13TH DISTRICT.
I WELCOME THOSE OF YOU TAKING PART IN OUR LIVE CHAT GOING ON AT WILL.ILLINOIS.EDU.
THE QUESTIONS THAT THE CANDIDATES WILL ANSWER THIS EVENING WERE BASED IN PART UPON A SURVEY OF STUDENTS FROM COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE 13TH DISTRICT.
BUT THE QUESTIONS IN THEIR FINAL FORM ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR PANEL OF THREE REPORTERS FROM SPRINGFIELD, PATRICK YEAGLE, OF THE "ILLINOIS TIMES", FROM DECATUR, ALLISON PETTY OF THE "HERALD AND REVIEW", AND FROM CHAMPAIGN, JILLS DISIS THE EDITOR IN CHIEF OF THE "DAILY ILLINI".
I ALSO WELCOME THE AUDIENCE JOINING US IN THE STUDIO THIS EVENING.
THEY INCLUDE SUPPORTERS OF BOTH CANDIDATES,
AND THEY HAVE AGREED TO REMAIN SILENT AND NOT APPLAUD OR BOO THE CANDIDATES DURING THE DEBATE.
RIGHT NOW, I INVITE YOU ALL TO GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE AS WE INTRODUCE THE TWO CANDIDATES, MATT GOETTEN AND DAVID GILL.
>> MR. MATT GOETTEN LIVES IN HIS HOME TOWN OF CARROLLTON WHERE HE IS SERVING SECOND TERM OF STATE'S ATTORNEY FOR GREENE COUNTY.
HE IS THE CAPTAIN OF THE ILLINOIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD AND SERVED IN AFGHANISTAN DURING A PREVIOUS TOUR OF DUTY WITH THE ILLINOIS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD.
THIS IS MATT GOETTEN'S FIRST RUN FOR CONGRESS.
DR. DAVID GILL OF BLOOMINGTON IS AN EMERGENCY ROOM PHYSICIAN AT ADVOCATE BROMENN REGIONAL CENTER IN NORMAL.
BEFORE MOVING INTO EMERGENCY MEDICINE, DR. GILL WORKED AS A FAMILY PRACTICE PHYSICIAN AND RAN FOR CONGRESS IN THE OLD 15TH DISTRICT AGAINST REPUBLICAN TIM JOHNSON IN 2006, AND 2010.
WE HAD HOPED TO HAVE A DEBATE FEATURING THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES, BUT CONGRESSMAN JOHNSON DECLINED OUR INVITATION AND OTHER GOP, MICHAEL FIRSCHING AND FRANK METZGER FAILED TO MEET THE CRITERIA.
HOWEVER, YOU CAN FIND MATERIAL ABOUT ALL THE CANDIDATES ON OUR ELECTION WEB SITE WILL.ILLINOIS.EDU/ELECTION.
A WORD NOW ABOUT ILLINOIS' NEW 13TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT.
IT COVERS PARTS OF THE OLD DISTRICTS REPRESENTED BY CONGRESSMAN TIM JOHNSON AND JOHN SHIMKUS, REACHING FROM CHAMPAIGN URBANA IN EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS, OVER TO HARDIN IN THE SOUTHWEST.
IT INCLUDES SPRINGFIELD, BLOOMINGTON NORMAL, EDWARDSVILLE, DECATUR, CLINTON, AND CARROLLTON AMONG OTHER COMMUNITIES.
MR. GOETTEN AND DR. GILL HAVE AGREED TO A DEBATE WITH NO OPENING OR CLOSING STATEMENTS.
NO SET TIME LIMITS FOR ANSWERS.
I WILL DECIDE WHEN IT IS TIME TO MOVE FROM ONE QUESTION TO THE NEXT.
OUR PANEL WILL BE ASKING DIRECT QUESTIONS AND SEEKING DIRECT ANSWERS.
LET'S GO NOW TO OUR FIRST QUESTION, AND WE ARE STARTING WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ECONOMY.
ALLISON PETTY WITH THE "HERALD AND REVIEW."
>>MR. GOETTEN, THE NATIONAL DEBT IS ABOUT $15 TRILLION.
WHAT ARE SOME SPECIFIC STEPS YOU BELIEVE CONGRESS CAN TAKE TOWARD REDUCING IT?
>> ALLISON, IF I MAY, I HAVE GROWN UP HERE IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS, AS WAS STATED IN THE OPENING, I HAVE A HISTORY OF SERVICE.
I AM HOPING TO CARRY THAT FORWARD TO CONGRESS.
I HAVE A JOBS PLAN THAT I ROLLED OUT LAST WEEK THAT I THINK HAS SOME SPECIFIC LANGUAGE IN THERE THAT CAN HELP REDUCE THAT.
WE HAVE TO GET BACK TO SOME TAX FAIRNESS HERE IN THIS COUNTRY AND IMMEDIATELY REPEAL THE BUSH TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHIEST OF AMERICANS.
WE HAVE TO LOOK AT THE TAX CODE.
WE HAVE TO FIND WAYS THAT WE CAN PUT PEOPLE BACK TO WORK HERE IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS, BUT THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY.
WE HAVE TO FIND WAYS TO INCREASE THE TAX BASE BY DOING THINGS LIKE SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES AS A FORMER BUSINESS OWNER MYSELF, I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO MEET A PAYROLL.
I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO PUT PEOPLE TO WORK.
I KNOW HOW THAT CAN HELP, MORE TAXPAYERS ON THE TOLL, PAYING TAXES.
I KNOW THAT IF WE GET MANUFACTURING BACK UP TO SPEED HERE IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS RATHER THAN LOSING MANUFACTURING AS WE HAVE DONE IN GREENE AND REALLY JERSEY COUNTY AND THE METRO EAST THAT I AM MOST FAMILIAR WITH, THAT HELPS FILL THAT GAP.
BUT SPECIFICALLY PUTTING PEOPLE BACK TO WORK, I MEAN IT HELPS.
>>THANK YOU.
DR. GILL, YOUR ANSWER.
>>I INITIALLY WANTED TO STATE THAT I AM VERY PLEASED TO BE HERE.
I AM GLAD W.I.L.L. IS HOSTING THIS DEBATE.
I AM GLAD THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF WHICH I AM A MEMBER IS COHOSTING.
THAT'S LETTING YOU KNOW THAT I AM A MEMBER OF THE LEAGUE IS FULL DISCLOSURE SO TO SPEAK.
WE HAD OFFERED TO HAVE SIX OR EIGHT OR TEN OF THESE DEBATES, FOR WHATEVER REASON, MR. GOETTEN'S CAMPAIGN WAS UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO ACCOMMODATE THAT.
WE REALLY WANTED THE VOTERS TO GET A CHANCE TO KNOW US.
I AM THRILLED TO HAVE THE ONE, AND I AM GLAD YOU PU

Harland Braun on Media Mayhem Episode 4
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Media Mayhem is a weekly show hosted by Allison Hope Weiner, a lawyer and journalist who's covered Hollywood for more than fifteen years. The show gives the audience a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes in the media world. Through interviews with journalists, lawyers, writers and other people who work in the world of media, Allison reveals why certain stories are published, why others are never told and how the conflict between the advertising and editorial sections of a company often determines content. This show is an effort to give viewers the information so they can become more discerning and discriminating consumers of media content.
EP 3 RECAP:
On this week’s episode of Media Mayhem we have one of the top criminal attorneys in Los Angeles as our guest, Harland Braun, to talk about his trials of the century and how he used media coverage to help his clients. Harland shares stories about his involvement with The John Landis/Twighlight Zone trial, representing the police officer in the Rodney King case (while representing rapper EZ-E) and his strategy in the Robert Blake case. Also covered is the role the media and paparazzi play in these high profile cases and how Harland has handled the press under such a public eye.

SHOW RECAP:
1:00- 4:00 Introduction/Current events: Iran released hikers: (disappeared in the media after one press conference) Occupy Wall Street: also missing. Mainstream media is avoiding these stories and burying them for certain reasons, encourage the public to look for alternate sources to see what is going on.
4:00- 5:20 Introduction of guest HARLAND BRAUN (clients include Robert Blake, John Landis/Twighlight Zone case, Cop in Rodney King case)
5:20 AHW: Can you give viewers a sense of how coverage has changed?
5:40-6:37 HB: there was no celebrity coverage whatsoever years ago, The Twighlight Zone trial (in which 2 children were killed in a helicopter accident...actor Jon Landis on trial for manslaughter and represented by Harland Braun)...HB: coverage on TZ case not even close to what it would be today. It was/is important to limit press
6:50 HB: you have to make decisions on how you handle it based on the fact that they still have to have a public career after the trial
7:15 HB: We needed the public to know that the TZ case was an accident. With Robert Black needed to let the public know just who the victim was.
8:00 HB: I represented Robert Blake until he did an interview with the press against my advisement/request not to do so. I was convinced in that case that Bonnie would have had RB killed eventually....The judges are often impacted more than the jury in these cases
9:15 AHW: WHEN YOU GO TO THE PRESS, DO YOU PICK MEDIA OUTLETS BASED ON WHO WATCHES WHAT?
9:45 HB: Robert Blake went to DIane Sawyer behind my back...within hours of dropping RB case he was advised to fax letter of resignation before Hollywood and mainstream media could say he was fired
10:10 HB: “HOLLYWOOD IS A TRIP THROUGH THE SEWER IN A GLASS BOTTOM BOAT”
11:20 AHWL YOU HAVE DECIDED TO BE SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT COMMENT ON OTHER CASES, WHY?
11:45 HB: I learned during the OJ Simpson trial the significance of putting something in print ...I was unfair to some of the lawers in that case in some comments in LA TImes. I will comment on generic issues but not on ethics
12:50 (AHW to viewers : be aware of people commenting without acutally being involved in or following the trials going on, “experts” are often asked to comment on things they haven’t even seen)
13:30 HB: always questions the terms “criminal lawyers “ and “former presecutors...they always seem false/made up...(insert GRAPHIC “win an expert”)
15:30 Rodney King case...federal prosecution discussion
16:12 HB I was representing rapper Eazy-E at the same time I decided to represent the cop in the Rodney King case, I called him to get his feelings on it prior to taking on the case. Eazy-E got to know the client and eventually supported him and his family through the trial
17:15 HB: Eazy E was more interested in whether it was a racial case or not (which after many views of the tapes we determined it was not, cop would have reacted the same regardless of race)
17:33 AHW: DISCUSS THE PUBLIC ATMOSPHERE IN SOME TRIALS (ie Bev Hills high murder)
18:34 AHW : People come out of the wood work when it is high publicity
18:45 HB: it is dangerous b/c people will come forward pretending to be witnesses OR when there is so much publicity the actual witnesses will NOT come forward

One stand-out feature of unilateralism is this: that ones own rules become the worlds rules. Everyone must respect them, and if you dont, then you will be punished, the paper said in a commentary. 2014 State Of The Union Address - Obama's Speech on Iran
2014 State Of The Union Address - Obama's Speech on Iran
US President Barack Obama delivers his State of the Union address in which he said he would veto any bill to increase sanctions against Iran. To Obama: 1) Most of the sanctions on Iran during the past years came from the Congress and you were forced by pressure from Senate to reluctantly approve them. 2) Soviet Union was not an apocalyptic religious regime, and was not described by the US State Department as an "active state sponsor of terrorism." 3) If Mullahs fully comply with the materials of the "Sucker's Deal", it wouldn't qualify them to join the community of nations! What about their violation of Human Rights against its own people? their act of terrorism across the globe? their meddling in the neighboring counties? 4) You define leadership as to free people from fear and want, but your action has been opposite to your talks. You probably remember the Iranian oppositions plead for your support in June 2009 and you ignored them and decided to shake hand with the terrorist regime of Iran. You remember in Egypt you supported Muslim Brotherhood led by Morsi against the will of Egyptian people. You cannot forget the scream of Syrian people for 3 years for your support and you turned your back on them. And the list goes on. .... 5) You believe that for the sake of national security, we must give diplomacy a chance, i.e., diplomacy with the Iranian Mullahs. Since when it is has become an international norm for the civilized countries to negotiate with terrorists? Since when terrorism for the world leaders has become a compromise matter!
