Gayle Sierens (born 1954) is a news anchor on WFLA-TV. She joined the Tampa NBC affiliate in 1977 as a weekend sports anchor and reporter after working with WFSU in Tallahassee while she was attending Florida State University. She became the first female sportscaster in the Bay Area and quickly made a reputation for herself as someone who always got the big story and interviewed the top professional sports players despite being a woman. In 1981, she was recognized by Tampa Bay Metro Magazine as the Bay Area's best sports reporter.
In an effort to curb declining ratings, WFLA promoted Sierens to coanchor of the 6 & 11 p.m. newscasts with Bob Hite in October 1985, a move that was criticized at first. The move later paid off as Sierens was regarded as being likeable and just as intuitive doing news as she did sports.
In 1987, through a short stint with NBC Sports, she became the first (and as of 2014, still the only) woman to do play-by-play for an NFL regular season football game when she called the December 27 game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Wii Menu (known internally as the System Menu) is the graphical shell of the Wii game console, as part of the Wii system software. It has four pages, each with a 4:3 grid, and each displaying the current time and date. Available applications, known as "channels", are displayed and can be navigated using the pointer capability of the Wii Remote. The grid is customizable; users can move channels (except for the Disc Channel) amongst the menu's 47 customizable slots by pressing and holding the A and B button while hovering over the channel the user wants to move. By pressing the plus and minus buttons on the Wii Remote users can scroll across accessing empty slots.
The Homebrew Channel, commonly abbreviated as HBC, is a freeware homebrew application loader that was developed to provide a way of easily running unofficial software on the Wii console. Once installed, it appears as a standard Wii Channel on the Wii Menu. When launched, it displays a list of applications found on an SD card or a USB drive. The user then can control and select an application to launch by using a Wii Remote or the GameCube controller. It also accepts application uploads via a USB Gecko or TCP/IP (over Wi-Fi or Ethernet), which allows for quick application testing during development. When first launched from the Wii Menu, the Homebrew Channel will check for updates to itself and automatically download them if the user chooses to do so.
NewsChannel 8 is an American regional cable news television network that is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, and managed by the company's ABC-affiliated station WJLA-TV (channel 7) in Washington D.C. The channel provides 24-hour news coverage primarily focused on Washington, D.C., northern Virginia and suburban areas of Maryland within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The channel shares studio facilities and offices with WJLA-TV and the Rosslyn-based Politico in Arlington, Virginia. NewsChannel 8 reaches more than 1.2 million cable television households within the D.C metropolitan area.
The channel was launched on October 7, 1991 as NewsChannel 8; it was founded by the Allbritton Communications Company, which had been the longtime owners of WJLA-TV. On August 9, 2010, the channel was rebranded as TBD TV, in order to associate it with the recently established news website TBD.com, which provided news content for both the channel and WJLA; Allbritton subsequently reverted its news channel's branding to the original NewsChannel 8 name in February 2011.
(c)1988 NFL; NBC Universal Part 2 picks up with Len Berman mentioning how, for the next four weeks, several regular NBC broadcasters would be away to cover the 1988 Seoul Olympics (late start so as to avoid clashing with South Korea's rainy season). Thus we would see Curt Gowdy, Al DeRogatis; Marty Glickman relieving Marv Albert, Chuck Thompson, Merle Harmon and Ray Scott working games. Len interviewed DeRogatis, Gowdy and Scott for the piece; then-legendary baseball announcer/former NFL on CBS voice Lindsey Nelson is introduced as a guest (Nelson shows up, to Len's surprise, dressed quite conservatively compared to his infamous penchant for wild sportscoats). The final segment picks up with that, and a mention of Gayle Sierens' (longtime news anchor for Tampa NBC affiliate WFLA) one-sh...

A Gayle Sierens Special Report: A quest for the cure to Alzheimer's
It's always emotional to see a anchorman or anchorwoman leave for something that they done for so long. First, it was Gayle Sierens today in Tampa, now it's Mike Jacobs in Milwaukee. These were his final words after 37 years of broadcasting in Milwaukee. A television giant in that area and just like Gayle in Tampa, Mike will be forever missed on our TV screens in Milwaukee. This included additional off-air closing shots from the newscast. Overivew of the amazing life of Harriett (Hunnynun) Shepard. At 98, she continues to inspire and awe. As my husband's grandmother, I can only hope that my daughters inherited her sense of adventure and love of learning.
Today, we hosted WFLA Gayle Guyardo, as WFLA News Channel 8 is doing a story on great places to visit in the bay area for under $108. Gayle and her two beautiful daughters became honorary mermaids, and all did a terrific job swimming! As always, we appreciate the visit. Be sure to watch!
