To launch State-wide yatra on March 16

The Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) will form a third front against the United Democratic Front and the Left Democratic Front, the party leadership has said. On Sunday, the leaders declared the launch of a Rashtriya Pracharana Yathra against “political fascism and corruption” in the State.

Addressing reporters after the party’s State committee meet here on Sunday, they said the yathra would begin on March 16 from Kasaragod.

Detailing its road map for the general elections, RMP leader N. Venu said the party intended to contest from all constituencies, including Vadakara.

‘Open to alliance’

“We are open to an alliance with any party which is not in partnership with the LDF or the UDF. We will undertake various causes in our election campaign, from endosulfan pesticide poisoning, the widening of national highway without declaring the rehabilitation packages for evictees, to the Plachimada people’s struggle,” K.K. Rema, RMP leader and wife of the party’s slain leader T.P. Chandrasekharan, said.

On the remarks made by CPI (M) district secretariat member C. Bhaskaran, accusing Chandrasekharan of ‘moral turpitude,’ Ms. Rema said the RMP would take legal and political steps against him. “They killed him (Chandrasekharan) once. Now they are killing him again with their words. Mr. Bhaskaran is lying. It is indicative of the CPI (M)’s desperation and their leadership’s growing distance with the people,” Mr. Venu said.
