GERMANY`S PROPOSAL ON KARABAKH CONFLICT

“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be discussed at the workshop dedicated to the conflict resolution in Germany,” said Head of the Azerbaijani delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, Deputy Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Bahar Muradova in an exclusive interview with CBC. She said that Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, Chairperson of the German delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, Doris Barnett gave such a proposal at the 15th winter session of the organization in Vienna. In connection with this, she sent an official letter to the representatives of other countries including the Azerbaijani and Armenian representatives. The workshop will be held in April. Doris Barnett highlighted that she will call for increasing the efforts of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, especially expanding the activity of the Minsk Group Co-chairs and attracting all the members to this process. BAHAR MURADOVA – DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON OF AZERBAIJANI PARLIAMENT “This is a very serious initiative and you know that we always criticize the fruitless activity of the OSCE Minsk Group. Doris Barnett has also criticized the activity of this organization. She has said that they are interested in the high-level cooperation with Azerbaijan and see the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as an obstacle on the way to the security in the region. She has noted that the fact that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is frozen hinders all the processes. We have also expressed our opinion on this issue. We criticize the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group has monopolized this issue and does not allow any other international organizations to solve this problem. Certainly, this is our just position.” At the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, it was also highlighted that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict causes an intense situation and hinders the regional cooperation. BAHAR MURADOVA – DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON OF AZERBAIJANI PARLIAMENT “I should note that this issue was especially highlighted both in the report of the Secretary General and in the report of the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly. I think that if the OSCE Minsk Group uses all its means, then it will be able to achieve the resolution of the conflict. At the same time, Azerbaijan criticizes the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group and Armenia is not satisfied with this.” The attitude of the Armenian side towards Doris Barnett`s speech on the enhancing of the Minsk Group`s activity was unconstructive. The Azerbaijani delegation noted that it hails this initiative and is ready to fulfill all the duties and that it is important to take necessary action towards the settlement of the conflict. However, the Armenian deputies noted that the cooperation between the countries is impossible.
