Ne Win (Burmese: နေဝင်း IPA: [nè wɪ́ɴ]; born on 24 May or 14 May 1911 or 10 July 1910 – 5 December 2002) was a Burmese politician and military commander. He was Prime Minister of Burma from 1958 to 1960 and 1962 to 1974 and also head of state from 1962 to 1981. He also was the founder and from 1962 to 1988 the chairman of the Burma Socialist Programme Party, which from 1964 until 1988 was the sole political party in the Burmese nation state.

Ne Win's date of birth is not known with certainty. The English language publication Who's Who in Burma published in 1961 by People's Literature House, Rangoon, stated that Ne Win was born on 24 May 1911. Dr. Maung Maung stated in the Burmese version of his book Burma and General Ne Win, also published in English, that Ne Win was born on 14 May 1911. However, in a book written in Burmese titled The Thirty Comrades, the author Kyaw Nyein gave Ne Win's date of birth as 10 July 1910.

Bogalay Kyaw Hlaing (Burmese: ဘိုကလေး ကျော်လှိုင်, pronounced: [bòɡəlé tɕɔ̀ l̥àiɴ]; 28 September 1914 – 13 April 1996) was a Burmese artist. Due to his mastery of the technique of painting clouds, he was sometimes also called "Cloudy Kyaw Hlaing".

Kyaw Hlaing was born on 28 September 1914 in Bogalay, (in the present day Ayeyarwady Region), son of wealthy parents with an interest in art. He studied art at Aid National Middle School. At the age of 18, along with Ba Kyi, Aye Maung and Thein Han (painter), he became a student under the master Ba Nyan, who had learned European oil painting techniques in London. After the Second World War he entered a national painting competition, winning prizes in the still life, figure and landscape categories, and the overall gold prize. He found work as an art instructor in Bogalay, later moving to Yangon where he taught in high schools for many years.

Kyaw Hlaing belonged to the second generation of Burmese painters who studied under Ba Nyan in the 1930s. After Myanmar gained independence in 1948, he continued to practice the European painting techniques he had learned during the colonial period. Kyaw Hlaing exhibited at many art shows in the 1960s, and his paintings were collected by many art lovers. The majority of his work was in watercolor, this oeuvre of work counting in the many hundreds. His oil work was less prolific, and the number of paintings is not known precisely, but nearly a score of these works have emerged in the hands of Yangon art dealers in recent years. Kyaw Hlaing quoted 80 oil paintings as an estimate of the number of oil works he had done in his lifetime.

Newin Chidchob (Thai: เนวิน ชิดชอบ, born 4 October 1958) is a Thai politician. As a member of several political parties, Newin and his allies eventually joined the Thai Rak Thai Party of Thaksin Shinawatra in 2005. Until the 2006 Thai coup d'état, he served as a member of the Parliament for Buriram Province and was a Cabinet minister with the Thai Rak Thai party. From 2002 to 2005, he was Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives.

After the 2006 Thai coup d'état and the dissolution of Thai Rak Thai, he and his friends, mostly members of the National Assembly from the southern part of Isan or northeastern region, shifted from the ruling (now dissolved) People Power Party (PPP) to the opposition Democrat Party during the 2008 Thai political crisis. He is the leader of the so-called "Friends of Newin Group", now known as the "Bhumjaithai Party". Consequently the Democrat Party'led coalition gained the majority in the National Assembly. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Democrat Party's leader, was voted by the majority of the Parliament's members to be the new prime minister in December 2008.
