In the week marking the 10th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, we spend the hour looking at the remarkable life and imminent death of Iraq War veteran Tomas Young. Citing his overwhelming physical pain from wounds that left him paralyzed in Iraq, Young recently announced he has decided to end his life by discontinuing his medicine and nourishment, which comes in the form of liquid through a feeding tube. Young joins to explain his decision from his home in Kansas City, along with his wife Claudia Cuellar. We're also joined by Phil Donahue, the legendary TV talk show host, whose 2007 documentary, "Body of War," follows Tomas' rehabilitation and his political awakening to become one of the most prominent antiwar U.S. veterans speaking out against the invasion and occupation of Iraq. "On one hand, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired," Young says. "And on the other, I don't want to watch my body waste away." Donahue calls Tomas' announcement "a very unusual act of moral courage. He wants people to see this because he came home from the most sanitized war of my lifetime. We don't see this. As people around the country celebrated Veterans Day, ESPN aired a segment on SportsCenter of families being re-united with military members. Best if viewed at 480p or higher. Music is by Chris Daughtry - Home Being a Veteran myself and having served part of my time in the Military in Germany, I can relate so strongly to this video because when I got home after 3 years of being away from my family, these video segments were just like me. My family knew I was coming home but they did not know exactly when (with international flights, layovers, ETC....) and they were expecting me to call from the airport to come and get me. I surprised them by hopping a cab directly to home and to see the look on their faces was and is priceless. Do not concern yourself with shedding a tear over this video. I would worry more about you if you don't. Even if you are not a Veteran, I know you can appreciate the emotions of a family reunion even after a short absence. Thanks to all of my fellow Veterans for your service past and present and a prayer to all of those who lost their lives in keeping us free. Thanks for watching :)

This Vietnam War Veteran was removed from this U.S. Airways flight on 31 Aug 13. This man was 100% disabled and was accompanied by a Golden Retriever service dog. The reason this man was removed was because the airline wanted the dog to lay on the floorboard by the mans feet for takeoff and landing and the dog was sitting in the seat. The mans protest was understandable because being a small CRJ aircraft and the dog being full size it was hard for the dog to fit on the floor between the seats.The dog was behaving beautifully while seated in the seat and not bothering anyone. After the man was escorted off of the airplane the police officer came on board (not shown in the video) and said to the people on board the aircraft "Folks we are going to see how you feel the situation was handled. Do you think it was right for this man to be escorted off of this aircraft?" The individuals on the airplane replied with a thunderous (shaking me in my seat as I yelled) NO!!! My arguments.... 1) Parents are allowed to hold their children unbuckled in their lap for take off so why shouldn't this man be allowed to hold on to his working dog for take off? (The Government gives veterans with PTSD service dogs that are trained to help calm the veterans in stressful situations). 2) The airlines policies should be written to act as a guide and not a hard and fast rule. I am a pilot myself and to my knowledge the FARs do not prohibit an animal from sitting in a passengers seat.(Ref: FAR 135.85). As you can see in the video this man stands up and apologizes to the passengers on board while waiting for the police to arrive. My opinion is that U.S. Airways needs to re-visit their "policies" and reimburse this man his money at the minimum. What are your thoughts?

Plot

Plot
When Longfellow Deeds, a small-town pizzeria owner and poet, inherits $40 billion from his deceased uncle, he quickly begins rolling in a different kind of dough. Moving to the big city, Deeds finds himself besieged by opportunists all gunning for their piece of the pie. Babe, a television tabloid reporter, poses as an innocent small-town girl to do an exposé on Deeds. Of course, Deeds' sincere naiveté has Babe falling in love with him instead. Ultimately, Deeds comes to find that money truly has the power to change things, but it doesn't necessarily need to change him.

Plot
As the film opens on an Oklahoma farm during the depression, two simultaneous visitors literally hit the Wagoneer home: a ruinous dust storm and a convertible crazily driven by Red, the missus' brother. A roguish country-western musician, he has just been invited to audition for the Grand Ole Opry, his chance of a lifetime to become a success. However, this is way back in Nashville, Red clearly drives terribly, and he's broke and sick with tuberculosis to boot. Whit, 14, seeing his own chance of a lifetime to avoid "growing up to be a cotton picker all my life," begs Ma to let him go with Uncle Red as driver and protege. Thus begins a picaresque journey both hilarious and poignant.

Plot
Television viewer seeing this for the first time: Gee whiz, it's in black-and-white and was made in the 40's and is about crime and...Eureka!...another "noir" film is discovered. How about just another typical Martin Mooney film that starts out as pretending to be something socially significant---call Prison Warden Lewis E. Lawes to do another prologue speech---and then quickly gets into just another cops-vs-robbers (or good crooks vs. bad crooks)B-feature action-thriller that will open in every 2nd-tier theatre in the country on Sunday, close on Wednesday... and be the bottom-half of a grind-house twin-bill two weeks later. "San Quentin" ably fills that description. Ex-con Jim Rowland (Lawrence Tierney), gone straight and returning from WWII as a hero, is more than a bit irked, as one of the founders of the Prison Welfare League (cons rehabilitating cons inside and outside the walls), when he learns that bank robber Nick Taylor (Barton MacLane) has used the good name of the PWL to escape from San Quentin, and knocked the Warden in the head to boot. This is one founding father that isn't going to stand idly by after the good name of the PWL has been stained, especially by the likes of Barton MacLane, probably still laughing at the thought there was a Warden somewhere who would actually trust him. So Jim and his ex-con pal 'Broadway' (Joe Devlin) set out to track down Nick Taylor. They encounter Marian Carr along the way.

In the week marking the 10th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, we spend the hour looking at the remarkable life and imminent death of Iraq War veteran Tomas Young. Citing his overwhelming physical pain from wounds that left him paralyzed in Iraq, Young recently announced he has decided to end his life by discontinuing his medicine and nourishment, which comes in the form of liquid through a feeding tube. Young joins to explain his decision from his home in Kansas City, along with his wife Claudia Cuellar. We're also joined by Phil Donahue, the legendary TV talk show host, whose 2007 documentary, "Body of War," follows Tomas' rehabilitation and his political awakening to become one of the most prominent antiwar U.S. veterans speaking out against the invasion and occupation of Iraq. "On one hand, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired," Young says. "And on the other, I don't want to watch my body waste away." Donahue calls Tomas' announcement "a very unusual act of moral courage. He wants people to see this because he came home from the most sanitized war of my lifetime. We don't see this. Less than 5 percent of us have made a personal sacrifice for this war. And Tomas is one of them."

As people around the country celebrated Veterans Day, ESPN aired a segment on SportsCenter of families being re-united with military members. Best if viewed at 480p or higher. Music is by Chris Daughtry - Home
Being a Veteran myself and having served part of my time in the Military in Germany, I can relate so strongly to this video because when I got home after 3 years of being away from my family, these video segments were just like me.
My family knew I was coming home but they did not know exactly when (with international flights, layovers, ETC....) and they were expecting me to call from the airport to come and get me. I surprised them by hopping a cab directly to home and to see the look on their faces was and is priceless.
Do not concern yourself with shedding a tear over this video. I would worry more about you if you don't. Even if you are not a Veteran, I know you can appreciate the emotions of a family reunion even after a short absence.
Thanks to all of my fellow Veterans for your service past and present and a prayer to all of those who lost their lives in keeping us free.

Disabled Veteran Kicked Off U.S. Airways Flight

This Vietnam War Veteran was removed from this U.S. Airways flight on 31 Aug 13. This man was 100% disabled and was accompanied by a Golden Retriever service dog. The reason this man was removed was because the airline wanted the dog to lay on the floorboard by the mans feet for takeoff and landing and the dog was sitting in the seat. The mans protest was understandable because being a small CRJ aircraft and the dog being full size it was hard for the dog to fit on the floor between the seats.The dog was behaving beautifully while seated in the seat and not bothering anyone. After the man was escorted off of the airplane the police officer came on board (not shown in the video) and said to the people on board the aircraft "Folks we are going to see how you feel the situation was handled. Do you think it was right for this man to be escorted off of this aircraft?" The individuals on the airplane replied with a thunderous (shaking me in my seat as I yelled) NO!!! My arguments.... 1) Parents are allowed to hold their children unbuckled in their lap for take off so why shouldn't this man be allowed to hold on to his working dog for take off? (The Government gives veterans with PTSD service dogs that are trained to help calm the veterans in stressful situations). 2) The airlines policies should be written to act as a guide and not a hard and fast rule. I am a pilot myself and to my knowledge the FARs do not prohibit an animal from sitting in a passengers seat.(Ref: FAR 135.85).
As you can see in the video this man stands up and apologizes to the passengers on board while waiting for the police to arrive.
My opinion is that U.S. Airways needs to re-visit their "policies" and reimburse this man his money at the minimum.

"I complained that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet." - No matter how bad things seem to be for us, there is always someone that is worse off than us.
I decided to pull off an experiment to see if a homeless man would help other homeless man who is in a worse condition than him... We saw a homeless veteran name Jerry, holding a sign on an exit of the freeway, so we approached him... but little does he know, greater things are coming for him when he helps others...
This experiment completely changed the way I look at homeless people. They are just people like you and me, perhaps even with a bigger heart than some of us.

"I complained that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet." - No matter how bad things seem to be for us, there is always someone that is worse off than us.
I decided to pull off an experiment to see if a homeless man would help other homeless man who is in a worse condition than him... We saw a homeless veteran name Jerry, holding a sign on an exit of the freeway, so we approached him... but little does he know, greater things are coming for him when he helps others...
This experiment completely changed the way I look at homeless people. They are just people like you and me, perhaps even with a bigger heart than some of us.

A veteran (from Latin vetus, meaning "old") is a person who has had long service or experience in a particular occupation or field; " A veteran of ..." . This page refers to military veterans, i.e., a person who has served or is serving in the armed forces, and has direct exposure to acts of military conflict, commonly known as war veterans (although not all military conflicts, or areas in which armed combat takes place, are necessarily referred to as "wars").
Military veterans often receive special treatment in their respective countries due to the sacrifices they made during wars. Different countries handle this differently, some openly support veterans through government programs and others ignoring them. Veterans are also subject to illnesses directly related to their military service such as PTSD. Others, such as veterans of conflicts like the Korean War, are often forgotten (even though the casualty rate in Korea was higher than that experienced in the Vietnam War) when compared with those who fought in the World Wars. In some countries with strong anti-military traditions (e.g., Germany after 1945) veterans are neither honored in any special way by the general public, nor have their dedicated Veterans Day, although events are sometimes orchestrated by Neo-Nazis and other minority right-wing groups.

Willard Mitt Romney (born March 12, 1947) is an American businessman and the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States in the 2012 election. He was the 70th Governor of Massachusetts (2003–07).
The son of Lenore and George W. Romney (Governor of Michigan, 1963–69), he was raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. In 1966, after one year at Stanford University, he left the United States to spend thirty months in France as a Mormon missionary. In 1969, he married Ann Davies, and the couple had five children together. In 1971, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Brigham Young University and, in 1975, a joint Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Harvard University as a Baker Scholar. He entered the management consulting industry, which in 1977, led to a position at Bain & Company. Later serving as Chief Executive Officer, he helped bring the company out of financial crisis. In 1984, he co-founded the spin-off Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm that became highly profitable and one of the largest such firms in the nation. His net worth is estimated at $190–250 million, wealth that has helped fund his political campaigns. Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Ward Bishop and later Stake President in his area near Boston. He ran as the Republican candidate in the 1994 U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts, losing to long-time incumbent Ted Kennedy.
