Michael Imperioli has signed to star in the ABC comedy pilot “St. Francis.”

The “Sopranos” vet will play a blue-collar no-nonsense Long Island police officer who buts heads with the modern world when his 29-year-old sister gets pregnant out of wedlock.

Chris Moynihan wrote the multicamera pilot for ABC Studios and exec produces with Tagline’s Ron West and Kelly Kulchak.

Imperioli is no stranger to ABC, having starred in dramas “Life on Mars” and “Detroit 187″ for the network in recent years. He’s also the co-writer of a drama project in contention at Bravo, “High and Low,” set in 1980s Wall Street.

Moynihan created and co-starred in the ABC comedy “Man Up,” which ran during the 2011-12 season.
