The Sacred Heart (also known as Most Sacred Heart of Jesus) is one of the most famous religious devotions to Jesus' physical heart as the representation of his divine love for humanity.
This devotion is predominantly used in the Catholic Church and among some high-church Anglicans and Lutherans. The devotion especially emphasizes the unmitigated love, compassion, and long-suffering of the heart of Christ towards humanity. The origin of this devotion in its modern form is derived from a French Roman Catholic nun, Marguerite Marie Alacoque, who said she learned the devotion from Jesus during a mystical experience. Predecessors to the modern devotion arose unmistakably in the Middle Ages in various facets of Catholic mysticism.
In the Roman Catholic tradition, the Sacred Heart has been closely associated with Acts of Reparation to Jesus Christ. In his encyclical Miserentissimus Redemptor, Pope Pius XI stated: "the spirit of expiation or reparation has always had the first and foremost place in the worship given to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus". The Golden Arrow Prayer directly refers to the Sacred Heart.
A place without a name
A heart that's wrapped in chains
I hear a broken cry
There's nothing here but what's in your mind
And down a dark road through an open gate
That seemed to move alone
Myth or truth is so hard to say
Still it chills my heart
Sacred heart
Snow yields to rain
And somehow I never felt us change
I'm running for the son
A quiet home above
Down a pathway through an open gate
That seemed to move alone
There the truth is so hard to say
Still it chills my heart
I couldn't tell you everything
There's something I should keep for my own
I couldn't tell you everything
Got secrets that you wouldn't want to know
A place without a name
A heart that's wrapped in fairytale chains
I'm running for the son
A quiet home above
Sacred heart
Do not be afraid of
It's only dark
I'm freezing
From the heart
Sacred Heart
Quand je marche dans la rue
La rue vers le Sacré-Cœur
Je me souviens des promesses
Au nom de l'amour
Je vais t'attendre là
Viendras-tu pour moi?
Je vais t'attendre là
Seulement toi
Tu peux me tenir
Jusqu'à ce que le soleil se cache
Et embrasse-moi doucement
Jusqu'à ce qu'il revienne
Je vais t'attendre là
Viendras-tu pour moi?
Je vais t'attendre là
Seulement toi
Tu prends peut-être du retard
Tu as peut-être raté ton train
Tu ne peux peut-être pas me pardonner
Les ombres grandissent
Et les foules s'effacent
Je vais t'attendre là
Viendras-tu pour moi?
Je vais t'attendre là
Seulement toi
English Translation (approx.):
When I walk in the street
The street to the Sacred Heart
I remember the promises
In the name of love
I'll wait for you there
Will you come for me?
I'll wait for you there
only you
You can stand
Until the sun hides
And kiss me softly
Until he returns
I'll wait for you there
Will you come for me?
I'll wait for you there
only you
You may take the delay
You may have missed your train
You can not possibly forgive me
The shadows grow
And the crowds disappear
I'll wait for you there
Will you come for me?
I'll wait for you there
The old ones speak of winter
The young ones praise the sun
And time just slips away
Running into nowhere
Turning like a wheel
And a year becomes a day
Whenever we dream
That's when we fly
So here is a dream
For just you and I
We'll find the Sacred Heart
Somewhere bleeding in the night
Look for the light
And find the Sacred Heart
Here we see the wizard
Staring through the glass
And he's pointing right at you
You can see tomorrow
The answer and the lie
And the things you've got to do
Oh, sometimes you never fall
And ah - You're the lucky one
But oh - Sometimes you want it all
You've got to reach for the sun
And find the Sacred Heart
Somewhere bleeding in the night
Oh look to the light
You fight to kill the dragon
And bargain with the beast
And sail into a sight
You run along the rainbow
And never leave the groundAnd still you don't know why
Whenever you dream
You're holding the key
It opens the door
To let you be free
And find the Sacred Heart
Somewhere bleeding in the night
Run for the light
And you'll find the Sacred Heart
A shout comes from the wizard
The sky begins to crack
And he's looking right at you - Quick
Run along the rainbow
What if I wanted to break
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do? (Oh, oh)
What if I fell to the floor
Couldn't take all this anymore
What would you do, do, do?
Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
What if I wanted to fight
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do?
You say you wanted more
What are you waiting for?
I'm not running from you (from you)
Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
Look in my eyes
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you
I tried to be someone else
But nothing seemed to change
I know now, this is who I really am inside.
Finally found myself
Fighting for a chance.
I know now, this is who I really am.
Ah, ah
Oh, oh
Ah, ah
Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you, you, you.
Look in my eyes
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you
Come break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)
(You say you wanted more)
What if I wanted to break... ?
(What are you waiting for? )
Bury me, bury me
(I'm not running from you)
What if I
What if I
What if I
What if I
Hands of my beliefs wring on
holding god so free
thirst of my heart drives on
holding the sky to truth
in mask I awoke
I've stood by waiting for years now
the beast is my low
my trials left no judge unscarred
the path of my roots brings on
prayer and sight so clean
every time my clouds linger on
I ask god to lead me to light
fear is ours leading on
serpent turns to lead us through night
as we stood receiving
Sacred Heart, surveyed from the summit,
a pantheon, distant as ever,
echoing up the mountainside,
escaped sound, like a kiss upon the forehead
Alas! Jimmy
And all the members of the covenant
Noble scholars,
without you I’d have drowned in gutterwater
Alas!
You, of course, have my infinite gratitude
You, My Most Sacred Heart
Yet I piss and moan for I have ____
Dearly Departed,
we are gathered here today in reverence
Dearly Departed,
we all will return to the soil
Alas!
Alas!
For all my Alas!-es
I cannot mend this massive slashing
Futile beacon!
Cinderella’s in the doghouse
The doghouse
The doghouse

I never promised you
It would last forever
We took it one day at a time
But when I held you close
I felt your desire
I saw the love that's in your eyes
Sacred heart don't you bleed
We got time on our side
We just can't let love slip away
Your all that I want
Your all that I need
I just can't let you go away
I know that you've been hurt
Let's face this thing together
Running away only makes things worse
I've been down that road before
Too many broken hearted
There's no easy ride but we'll get there
Sacred heart don't you bleed
We got time on our hands
We just can't let love slip away
Your all that I want
Your all that I need
I just can't let you go
All that I want is you
And I won't let you down
All that I want is you
And I'm not fooling around
Sacred heart don't you bleed
We got time on our side
We just can't let love slip away
Your all that I want
Your all that I need
I just can't let you go away
How do I keep dying just for you?
You're a dirty word
My mother washed my mouth for using
It's funny how we complicate the two
You're a sacred heart
If I've ever felt one
The aeroplane is flying towards the sun
And you're another reason I can cut my ties with breathing
I carved your name in my arm just for you
You're a dirty love
If I've ever felt one
You're a dirty love
If I've ever felt one
I've got a sacred plan
For a Catholic school boy
You've got a sacred heart
Some day Chris will quit his desk job
Leave the rat race far behind
Until then he'll scrape existence
In this prison they've designed
As the voice whispers in his ear...
On a sphere of sleeping beauty
Trapped beneath still icy wastes
Sacred hearts don't make a sound
Smile is frozen onto face
Cold routines of sterile duty
Blight the lives of living death
Some day Jo will flee the city
Find life in the countryside
Until then she'll choke on fumes
And the bitterness inside
As the voice whispers in her ear...
On a sphere of sleeping beauty
Trapped beneath still icy wastes
Sacred hearts don't make a sound
Smile is frozen onto face
Cold routines of sterile duty
Blight the lives of living death
Some day Paul will call the girl
Who could help him with his mind
Until then he'll prowl dark entries
Paying forty pounds a time
As the voice whispers in his ear...
On a sphere of sleeping beauty
Trapped beneath still icy wastes
Sacred hearts don't make a sound
Smile is frozen onto face
Cold routines of sterile duty
Blight the lives of living death
We put on blank façades
Dressed in white at our own wake
Regrets buzz like drunk corpse flies
Then hatch out larvae in sad sighs
I am so truly very sorry
But she's gone to a better place
There's no more tears for you my dear
A place without a name
A heart that's wrapped in chains
I hear a broken cry
There's nothing here but what's in your mind
And down a dark road through an open gate
That seemed to move alone
Myth or truth is so hard to say
Still it chills my heart
Sacred heart
Snow yields to rain
And somehow I never felt us change
I'm running for the son
A quiet home above
Down a pathway through an open gate

Still it chills my heart

I couldn't tell you everything

A place without a name
A heart that's wrapped in fairytale chains

A quiet home above

From the heart
Now I’m out walking on Saturday morning
without a direction, I’m a dime a dozen,
a worthless tourist – a walking target
with his eyes stuck on glue and paper
no roof to crawl under
but with a heart full of rain
a heart full of rain
Full as the clouds
my throwaway map should throw me away
and where does it take me
streets long since flooded
raindrops and heartbeats
though Noah doesn’t want me
you won’t let me drown
I don’t need to see you
I just need to feel you
when we make love
feel you in the dark
feel you in the future
when we make love
Up in heaven do we make ‘em burn up
or do they ignore us bigger fish to fry
waiting with the others at the Sacré-Cœur
many different colors from all over the world
here in the City of Love
no one wants me here
but I remember
the sweet things we did together
when we made love
Saturday morning waiting with the others
listening to Messiaen waiting in the dark
at the Sacré-Cœur the future doesn’t matter
nothing lasts but the dark
where we feel love
track me down and I’ll give you
my pomegranate heart my throwaway heart
track me down and stop me
I’m ripe enough for the terror
that lies at the center of my heart’s desire
I’m always alone I’m always alone
I’m always alone I’m always alone
What we hold is true!
There are times when I have to admit.
I feel like a puzzle piece that doesn’t quite fit.
It’s times like these that make me quit.
But you want me to!
What we hold is true!
For everyone who’s stabbed me in the back
This is my therapy a lyrical attack
So for you I’ll give something back
With a heart in my hand and your head to my gat!
Sacred heart!
I wear it on my sleeve so everyone can see
Who we are and what we believe
Hear what I'm saying
It was always true
I was never playing
When it came to you
Never good at showing
What you mean to me
Here's my last chance
To set my mind at ease
And all the times you slipped
Between the cracks disguised
As something sacred
Never knowing that I wanted you
Hold you in my arms, protect you
Never let the world upset you
Handing my life over to you
I was always running searching for excuses not to be together
Now the chase is over with this ring on your finger
The old ones speak of winter
The young ones praise the sun
And time just slips away
Running into nowhere
Turning like a wheel
And a year becomes a day
Whenever we dream
That's when we fly
So here is a dream
For just you and I

I'm standing in the place, where they put you down.
I can still hear your voice, I miss your sounds.
Right now you have nothing to fear.
Well, I'm looking around, you see your house from here.
If I'm going insane, I know it wont be that hard.
I hope your listening to me, I'd like to show you my
scars.
When I'm falling away, I'm barely listening.
I dream to look at your face and pass the time.
And Jesus who hast said, 'Only ask and it shall be given
to you.'
Well, take this cross that I bear, I'd rather jump in her
arms.
Hope you're listening to me, I'd like to show you my
scars.
If it's something for you that I left behind,
It's the middle of me that I can't find.
These flowers I took from God's shaking hands, put them
next to your
name and let them lie where I stand.
If there was such a time I could ever restore, I'd have
