Django The Last Killer (1967) George Eastman, Dragomir 'Gidra' Bojanic SPAGHETTI WESTERN
Spaghetti Western, also known as Italian Western, is a broad sub-genre of Western films that emerged in the mid-1960s in the wake of Sergio Leone's film-making style and international box-office success. The term was used by critics in USA and other countries because most of these Westerns were produced and directed by Italians. According to actor Aldo Sambrell, the phrase 'Spaghetti Western' was coined by Italian journalist Alfonso Sancha. The denomination for these films in Italy is western all'italiana (Italian-Style Western). Italo-Western is also used, especially in Germany. The term Eurowesterns may be used to also include Western movies that were produced in Europe but not called Spaghetti Westerns, like the West German Winnetou films or Ostern Westerns. The majority of the films were international co-productions between Italy, Spain, and sometimes France, Germany, Yugoslavia, and the United States. These movies were originally released in Italian, but as most of the films featured multilingual casts and sound was post-synched, most "western all'italiana" do not have an official dominant language. The typical Spaghetti Western team was made up of an Italian director, Italo-Spanish technical staff, and a cast of Italian, Spanish, German and American actors, sometimes a fading Hollywood star and sometimes a rising one like the young Clint Eastwood in three of Sergio Leone's films. Over six hundred European Westerns were made between 1960 and 1980.[4] The best-known spaghetti Westerns were directed by Sergio Leone and scored by Ennio Morricone: the "Dollars Trilogy" (A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)) and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). These are consistently listed among the best rated Westerns in general. Sergio Leone's Fistful of Dollars established the Spaghetti Western as a novel kind of Western. In this seminal film the hero enters a town that is ruled by two outlaw gangs and ordinary social relations are non-existent. He betrays and plays the gangs against one another in order to make money. Then he uses his cunning and exceptional weapons skill to assist a family threatened by both gangs. His treachery is exposed and he is severely beaten, but in the end he defeats the remaining gang. The interaction in this story between cunning and irony (the tricks, deceits, unexpected actions and sarcasms of the hero) on the one hand, and pathos (terror and brutality against defenseless people and against the hero after his double play has been revealed) on the other, was aspired to and sometimes attained by the imitations that soon flooded the cinemas. Just as seminal and imitated was Ennio Morricone's music that expresses a similar duality between quirky and unusual sounds and instruments on the one hand and sacral dramatizing for the big confrontation scenes, on the other. Use of pathos received a big boost with Sergio Corbucci's very influential Django. However in the following years use of cunning and irony became more prominent. This was seen in Leone's next two Westerns, with their emphasis on unstable partnerships. In the last phase of the Spaghetti Western, with the Trinity films, the Leone legacy had been transformed almost beyond recognition, as terror and deadly violence gave way to harmless brawling and low comedy. Leone's films and other "core" Spaghetti Westerns are often described as having eschewed, criticised or even "demythologized" many of the conventions of traditional US Westerns. This was partly intentional and partly the context of a different cultural background.- published: 22 Oct 2013

Share the People Love with your compadres now (maybe your enemies too). Follow for the coming sequel and documentary. Check out http://www.adventuresauce.com/2012/03/vimeo/ for free lessons helping you travel.
Some people dream of sitting on a beach in Tahiti or sailing around the world.
Benjamin's travel dream was to hitchhike around the USA for a year (his Nana thought it was a pretty curious dream as well).
He wanted to meet people from all walks of life and learn about the world through a simple adventure.
The video took 3 months to shoot and 2 years to create (although Benjamin's a hitchhiker and wasn't slaving away for 12 hours a day or anything :).
This video is just the start of his adventures to live an exciting, wise life and you can find free lessons to help you start traveling at http://www.adventuresauce.com/2012/03/vimeo/.

Diego Stocco - Bassoforte
Few days ago I started thinking about how I could re-purpose the keyboard of the dismantled piano I keep in the garden, so I thought to build a new instrument by combining it with some other parts I had laying around. I ended up with this mechanical hybrid thing I thought to call "Bassoforte" (bass + pianoforte).
The neck is from a broken electric bass, as a bridge I used a cabinet handle, the pickups are from a guitar, and the part at the top where the strings are attached is a chimney cap, which works as resonator as well as percussive sound.
The track I created is a tribute to my Dad who is a big fan of Western comic books and "spaghetti western" films, and because of him I am too.
I hope you'll like it!
The track is available also at my Bandcamp page: http://diegostocco.bandcamp.com/track/bassoforte
Here you can see a gallery with pictures and more detailed descriptions: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Bassoforte/535175
UPDATE 2/20/11 If you're curious to know more about the instrument in the background, you can watch this video I just made: http://vimeo.com/20157158

VANS OFF THE WALL SPRING CLASSIC - 2012
The Spring Classic in Varraze opened with the first European premiere of the Bones Brigade Documentary and ended with an awards ceremony that celebrated the diverse styles and talent of some of the best transition and street skaters in the world.
Seventeen different titles were up for grabs at the 3-day event on the Italian Ligurian seashore. Judges awarded technical tricks, old school style, switch skills and even attitude to spread the 10,000 Euro prize across genres and award cash to a crew of deserving skaters.
Saturday qualifiers narrowed the field in the Mini Ramp contest to 20 competitors for Sunday’s finals. The “Cash for Tricks” best trick event gave several skaters the instant gratification of cash in hand as soon as the judges saw something they liked. In batches of 10-40 Euro, cash was doled out with Alain Goikotxea, Guillaume Mocquin, Kevin Kowalski and Dannie Carlsen stacking up the biggest piles of money.
The Street competition awarded prize money to the best single lines in the course, which stretched almost the entire length of the Varazze Pier, shouldering a small line up of surfers catching waves throughout the day. Martin Pek came in first with 2000 Euro for a Nollie Crooked grind down the big rail and a nollie bigger spin over the gap. Nassim Guammaz took home 1200 Euro after landing a nose blunt slide down the big rail and a 50-50 on the down rail over the gap. Kris Vile came in third with 800 Euro for a lipslide on the big rail and bigspin kickflip over the gap.
Saturday night, over 5000 filled the street for an unforgettable concert in the heart of Varrazze. Headliners Turbonegro shook the crowd with their fierce brand of hard core rock n’ roll while fireworks lit up the night sky. Alternative Hip Hop crew Doomtree reached out to energetic party goers through beats and rhymes, with an intelligent blend of showmanship and sheer talent. Italian hip hop samurai Salmo dropped heavy beats and spit furious raps to stir the crowd into a frenzy after opening acts Those Furious Flames and The Peawees started the night off right. Beer flowed, the streets were closed and the typical Italian Riveria was transformed into an outdoor concert venue to write home about.
Vans raised 2000 Euro for local charity Oratorio Salesiani Don Daniele to help underprivileged kids in the area by selling t-shirts and hats at the event.
