An order to show cause, in most Anglo-Saxon law systems, is a type of court order that requires one or more of the parties to a case to justify, explain, or prove something to the court. Courts commonly use orders to show cause when the judge needs more information before deciding whether or not to issue an order requested by one of the parties. For example, if a party requests that the court find another party in contempt of an existing court order, the judge will typically issue an "Order to Show Cause Re Contempt" to the party accused of being in contempt of court. At the hearing on the order to show cause concerning contempt the judge will take evidence from both sides concerning the alleged failure to comply with the court order. Appellate courts often issue orders to show cause to lower courts requesting that the lower court explain why the appellant should not be granted the relief requested by the writ or appeal. An order to show cause is always an interim order (because it is never the first nor the final action in a legal action).

An order to show cause or sometimes referred to as an OSC is a motion made by a party (typically a tenant) to be heard by a Judge on a pending action. Usually the OSC is filed after a landlord obtains a judgment of eviction and a tenant is served with a notice of eviction or a 72 hour notice of eviction. Procedurally, the party wishing to file an OSC submits paperwork to the court after which, the Judge usually signs, allowing the case back into court if there is an excusable default and meritorious defense. Although the legal standard is that both an excusable default and a meritorious defense is needed for the Judge to sign the OSC, most tenants’ applications for an OSC are granted notwithstanding the fact the legal burden may not have been met. In most cases, the effect of the OSC ...

An order to show cause is a notice from the DUI Diversion Judge ordering you back to court and threatening you with all of the original maximum DUI penalties--1 year in jail, a 1-year driver's license suspension, 5 years on probation, a criminal conviction, etc. The DUI Diversion Firm helps DUI drivers all over Portland, including Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Tualatin.

https://youtu.be/BXslwWi_zJs Video showing the best writ to file to get a response from Family court. This video shows how special rules apply to Rick W when he is attempting to stand on the land before a Family Court Judge. These people in video are doing their "job" by doing whatever these people tell them to do, which is to obstruct this motion and the "retired Cop" who is drawing up the papers wants me to put my thoughts on a measly 6-8 lines. Needless to say I left and came home to good news that I am being summoned before the Judge i was attempting to confront and demand authority and clarification of evidence. The Federal Court in the Aamodt water rights adjudication case has issued a Notice and Order to Show Cause setting a deadline of April 7, 2014 for water users in the Nambe/Pojoaque/Tesuque areas to object to the Settlement Agreement and Proposed Decrees of the Pueblo water rights. Those not objecting to the proposed settlement may also begin making elections regarding domestic water rights. The Court has not yet set a deadline for making domestic well elections. As a result, water rights owners who do not want to object to the settlement or decrees do not have to file anything by April 7, 2014 and can wait to make their well elections once the Court sets a deadline for those filings. Santa Fe County will be sponsoring public meetings and workshops to go over the Settlement Agreement and t...
