HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY OF 2015! This is Pablo Bubar reading A WHITE ROSE, a 19th Century Poem by John Boyle O'Reilly. The red rose whispers of passion, And the white rose breathes of love; Oh, the red rose is a falcon, And the white rose is a dove. superb live performance of this classic jackie wilson's song the best I've heard.
Recorded early in Bobby Darin's career, about 18 months after his 1959 album, THAT'S ALL, this live set finds the pop singer broadening his artistic scope, while consolidating his commercial appeal with a scattershot roster of songs that includes a creditable version of Ray Charles's "I Got a Woman," his classic swinging take on Brecht and Weill's darkly humorous "Mack the Knife," and a Sinatra-like medley of "By Myself" and "When Your Lover Has Gone." This being the early '60s, he was still performing his breakthrough hit, "Dream Lover," though at this point in his career an increasing musical sophistication was enabling him to also tackle more complex material, such as the world-weary "Love For Sale," with ease. Though his insouciant approach to the more ring-a-ding-ding material, like "Some of These Days," sounds a little forced, when he relaxes and lets the song take him, as on the ballad "I Have Dreamed," the results are nothing short of spectacular. Darin at the Copa is Bobby Darin's fourth album and third straight top-ten charting LP in the US. It debuted on 17 October 1960, peaked at number 9 and remained in the LP chart for 38 weeks. The album was recorded live at the Copacabana nightclub in New York. Swing Low Sweet Chariot Lonesome Road - Some Of These Days 2:43 Mack The Knife 3:18 Love For Sale 3:12 Clementine 3:23 You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To 2:19 Dream Lover 2:34 Bill Bailey 2:03 I Have Dreamed 4:58 I Can't Give You Anything But Love 1:28 Alright, O.K., You Win 4:19 Medley: (3:34) By Myself When Your Lover Has Gone - I Got A Woman 4:13 That's All

Bobby Darin made his name in the 1950's with such hits as 'Queen of the Hop' and 'Splish Splash' before branching out into Films in the 1960's. After that he recorded intermittently and made personal appearances on tv. During his short career as a pop idol he demonstrated that he had the ability to take any material and transform it and make it distinctly Darinesque. A great talent who could have been so much more if he had lived to fulfil his full potential.

Old Film Series ■■■ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRaEF1Z1YR0aAxPg9D-grig/videos ■■■ "Captain Newman, M.D." IMDb Ratings: 7,0/10 Captain Newman, M.D. is a 1963 film starring Gregory Peck, Tony Curtis, Angie Dickinson, Robert Duvall, Eddie Albert and Bobby Darin. It was directed by David Miller and filmed on location at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The movie is based on the 1963 novel by Leo Rosten. It was loosely based on the World War II experiences of Rosten's close friend Ralph Greenson M.D., while Greenson was a Captain in the Army Medical Corps supporting the U.S. Army Air Forces and stationed at Yuma Army Airfield in Yuma, Arizona. Greenson is well known for his work on "empathy" and was one of the first in his field to seriously associate Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with wartime experiences. He was a director of the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Institute and was a practicing Freudian. Greenson is perhaps best known for his patients, who included Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis and Vivien Leigh. Major filming took place at the U.S. Army's Fort Huachuca complex in southern Arizona, with the co-located Libby Army Airfield used to portray the fictional Colfax Army Air Field. Plot In 1944, Captain Josiah Newman (Peck) is head of the neuro-psychiatric Ward 7 of a fictional Colfax Army Air Field military hospital, located in the Arizona desert. As he explains to a visiting VIP who wanders in: "We're short of beds, doctors, orderlies, nurses, everything ... except patients." He will use unconventional tactics to treat his patients and to recruit much needed personnel, as when he hijacks a new and very reluctant orderly, Corporal Jackson Leibowitz (Curtis), a wheeler-dealer from New Jersey. Leibotwitz promptly has the entire ward participating in a sing-along of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." Newman also takes great pains to court nurse Lieutenant Francie Corum (Dickinson) on what she thinks is a date... until he asks her to transfer to Ward 7. Their 'date/fight' is cut short by a phone call: Colonel Bliss (Albert) has forced his way into Ward 7 looking for Dr. Newman with a 6-inch knife, because Newman blocked his return to active duty after witnessing Bliss' erratic behavior. After watching Newman's handling of this situation and other patients on the ward, Corum transfers in. As Newman treats tragically shell-shocked, schizophrenic and catatonic patients, particularly the traumatized Corporal Jim Tompkins, an Eighth Air Force air gunner who symbolizes all of the post-traumatic stress disorder patients on the NP ward, he is hilariously bedeviled by 'old-school' base commander Col. Pyser (Gregory), who ultimately saddles him with a complement of injured Italian POWs because his is the only secure ward in the hospital. In addition, a flock of constantly straying sheep (kept for the medical lab) and a set of wise-ass, feuding orderlies keeps life interesting right up to Christmas. Cast Gregory Peck as Capt. Newman, M.D., MC, USAR Tony Curtis as Cpl. Jackson Leibowitz, de facto boss of the orderlies Angie Dickinson as Lt. Francie Corum, NC, USAR Eddie Albert as Col. Norval Bliss Bobby Darin as Cpl. Jim Tompkins Robert Duvall as Capt. Winston Bethel Leslie as Helene Winston James Gregory as Col. Pyser Dick Sargent as Lt. Alderson Larry Storch as Cpl. Gavoni Jane Withers as Lt. Blodgett Vito Scotti as Maj. Alfredo Fortuno, Italian POW Senior Officer

Lehigh Valley 2015-04-08Bobby Darin (born Walden Robert Cassotto; May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973) was an American singer who performed in a range of music genres, including pop, rock, jazz, folk, and country.
He started as a songwriter for Connie Francis, and recorded his own first million-seller "Splish Splash" in 1958. This was followed by "Dream Lover", "Mack the Knife" and "Beyond the Sea", which brought him world fame. In 1962, he won a Golden Globe for his first film Come September, co-starring his wife Sandra Dee.
Through the 1960s he became more political, and worked on Bobby Kennedy's presidential campaign, being present on the night of his assassination. This affected him and sent him into a period of seclusion.
Although he made a successful television comeback, his health was starting to fail, as he had always expected, following bouts of rheumatic fever in childhood. This knowledge had always spurred him on to exploit his musical talent while still young. He died at 37, following a heart operation in Los Angeles.
Ronald William "Ron" Howard (born March 1, 1954) is an American film director, producer and former child actor. He came to prominence playing Opie Taylor in the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show for eight years, and later the teenaged Richie Cunningham in the sitcom Happy Days for six years. He appeared in the films American Graffiti in 1973 and The Shootist in 1976, the latter during his run on Happy Days. Howard made his directorial debut with the 1977 comedy Grand Theft Auto, and left Happy Days in 1980 to focus on directing. His films include the Academy Award-winning Cocoon, Apollo 13, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and A Beautiful Mind. In 2003, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts. Asteroid 12561 Howard is named after him.
Howard was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, the son of Jean Speegle Howard, an actress, and Rance Howard, a director, writer and actor. His father was born with the surname "Beckenholdt", and had taken the stage name "Howard" by 1948, for his acting career. Rance Howard was serving three years in the United States Air Force at the time of Ron's birth. The family moved to Hollywood in 1958, the year before the birth of his younger brother, Clint Howard. They rented a house on the block south of the Desilu Studios, where The Andy Griffith Show would later be filmed. They lived in Hollywood for at least three years, before moving to Burbank.
Cole Albert Porter (June 9, 1891 – October 15, 1964) was an American composer and songwriter. Born to a wealthy family in Indiana, he defied the wishes of his domineering grandfather and took up music as a profession. Classically trained, he was drawn towards musical theatre. After a slow start, he began to achieve success in the 1920s, and by the 1930s he was one of the major songwriters for the Broadway musical stage. Unlike most successful Broadway composers, Porter wrote both the lyrics and the music for his songs.
After a serious horseback riding accident in 1937, Porter was left disabled and in constant pain, but he continued to work. His shows of the early 1940s did not contain the lasting hits of his best work of the 1920s and 30s, but in 1948 he made a triumphant comeback with his most successful musical, Kiss Me, Kate.
Porter's other musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen, DuBarry Was a Lady, Anything Goes and Can-Can, and his numerous hit songs include "Night and Day", "I Get a Kick out of You", "Well, Did You Evah!" and "I've Got You Under My Skin". He also composed scores for films from the 1930s to the 1950s. He was noted for his sophisticated, suggestive lyrics, clever rhymes and complex forms.
