VentureBeat is a technology blog that focuses on innovative companies and the forward-thinking executives behind them.

The company was founded in 2006 by Matt Marshall. In 2008, the New York Times called VentureBeat one of the "top blogs". In March 2009, VentureBeat signed a partnership agreement with IDG to produce DEMO”, a conference for launching emerging technology products.

The editorial team behind VentureBeat is composed of editors from a variety of disciplines and focus areas. They include Anthony Ha, who covers tech and previously wrote for Hollister Free Lance; Dean Takahashi, who covers gaming and previously worked for WSJ, LA Times and others; and Camille Ricketts who covers green technology and previously worked for WSJ in London.

The site is broken up into a series of distinct news “Beats”: Green, Games, Mobile, Deal, DEMO, Social and Media. Each area specializes on said topic and the companies and executives making news within. The content is regularly featured in Yahoo Buzz, the NYTimes.com, Businessweek.com, DailyRadar.com and elsewhere.

Douglas Lowenstein is the founder and former President of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). He resigned on February 12, 2007 to head up the newly formed Private Equity Council.

Doug started his career as a reporter for The Buffalo Courier Express from 1973-74. He was awarded the Buffalo newspaper Guild's Rookie of the Year award in 1974. He moved to Washington, DC in 1974 to take a position as a reporter for the Capitol Hill News Service. In 1976, he joined the Cox Newspapers Washington Bureau. After six years at Cox, Lowenstein joined the Senate staff of U.S. Sen. Howard M Metzenbaum, Democrat of Ohio. He served the last two years of his five year stint on the Hill as Metzenbaum's Legislative Director.

Doug became the first president of the ESA, then called the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA), in June 1994. Creator and owner of the E3 Tradeshow, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), and the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, the ESA is the only association exclusively dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of companies that publish video and computer games, for video game consoles, personal computers, and the Internet. As president, Lowenstein was responsible for the association's operations and for sector-wide initiatives that affect the nation's fastest growing entertainment industry.
