Eon (role-playing game)

Eon is a fantasy role-playing game set in the fictitious world of Mundana. It's developed and published by Swedish company Helmgast. Eon is the Swedish word for Aeon.

History

The first edition was released November 18, 1996, second edition on November 29, 2000, the third edition on August 27, 2004. The fourth edition will be released sometime in nomvember, 2014. In a comparison in Dagens Nyheter of four Swedish fantasy role-playing games, the first edition of Eon received the highest marks of the four with the comments "Advanced rules - Realistic", "Great joy of play", "Plausible. Down to earth", "Not for beginners. Detailed. Endless campaign seeds. High class without losing the fantasy feeling."

A computer game called EON - The Face of Deception was planned, but not released.

Geologic time scale

The geological time scale (GTS) is a system of chronological measurement that relates stratigraphy to time, and is used by geologists, paleontologists, and other Earth scientists to describe the timing and relationships between events that have occurred throughout Earth’s history. The table of geologic time spans presented here agrees with the nomenclature, dates and standard color codes set forth by the International Commission on Stratigraphy.

Evidence from radiometric dating indicates that Earth is about 4.54 billion years old. The geology or deep time of Earth’s past has been organized into various units according to events which took place in each period. Different spans of time on the GTS are usually delimited by changes in the composition of strata which correspond to them, indicating major geological or paleontological events, such as mass extinctions. For example, the boundary between the Cretaceous period and the Paleogene period is defined by the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, which marked the demise of the non-avian dinosaurs and many other groups of life. Older time spans which predate the reliable fossil record (before the Proterozoic Eon) are defined by the absolute age.

Eon (musician)

Ian Loveday, better-known as Eon (22 September 1954 – 17 June 2009) was a rave pioneer.

His tracks made their way to early 1990s pirate radio stations in London, and then out on vinyl through small labels like BAAD and Vinyl Solution. He released Void Dweller, with its dark and hard driving beats, on Columbia Records in September 1992; it used samples from David Lynch's Dune, the Outer Limits, and themes from the horror movie Basket Case.

His sound was a link between the early Detroit techno and contemporary dance music. In the early 1990s this release was shared between disc jockeys and musicians and was very influential. Eon was known for the acid techno song called "Spice" which was released in November 1990. Later in his career he worked with Baby Ford and Bizarre Inc., and released singles on Trelik Records and Electron Industries.

Death

Ian Loveday died on 17 June 2009 in London, of complications from pneumonia.

BPM 37093

BPM 37093 (V886 Centauri) is a variable white dwarf star of the DAV, or ZZ Ceti, type, with a hydrogen atmosphere and an unusually high mass of approximately 1.1 times the Sun's. It is about 50 light-years from Earth, in the constellation Centaurus, and vibrates; these pulsations cause its luminosity to vary. Like other white dwarfs, BPM 37093 is thought to be composed primarily of carbon and oxygen, which are created by thermonuclear fusion of helium nuclei in the triple-alpha process.

In the 1960s, it was predicted that as a white dwarf cools, its material should crystallize, starting at the center. When a star pulsates, observing its pulsations gives information about its structure. BPM 37093 was first observed to be a pulsating variable in 1992, and in 1995 it was pointed out that this yielded a potential test of the crystallization theory. In 2004, Antonio Kanaan and a team of researchers of the Whole Earth Telescope estimated, on the basis of these asteroseismological observations, that approximately 90% of the mass of BPM 37093 had crystallized. Other work gives a crystallized mass fraction of between 32% and 82%. Any of these estimates would result in a total crystalline mass in excess of 5×10²⁹ kilograms.

Lucy (Anna Tsuchiya song)

"LUCY" is the fifth single of singer Anna Tsuchiya released 14 February 2007 under the pseudonym of ANNA TSUCHIYA inspi' NANA (BLACK STONES) for the MAD PRAY RECORDS label, a sub-label to Avex. It is her third single to be released under the NANA franchise, the first being "Rose" and the second being "Kuroi Namida". It debuted at #12 on the Oricon Singles Daily Chart.

The Lucy poems

The Lucy poems are a series of five poems composed by the English Romantic poet William Wordsworth (1770–1850) between 1798 and 1801. All but one were first published during 1800 in the second edition of Lyrical Ballads, a collaboration between Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge that was both Wordsworth's first major publication and a milestone in the early English Romantic movement. In the series, Wordsworth sought to write unaffected English verse infused with abstract ideals of beauty, nature, love, longing and death.

The poems were written during a short period while the poet lived in Germany. Although they individually deal with a variety of themes, as a series they focus on the poet's longing for the company of his friend Coleridge, who had stayed in England, and on his increasing impatience with his sister Dorothy, who had travelled with him abroad. Wordsworth examines the poet's unrequited love for the idealised character of Lucy, an English girl who has died young. The idea of her death weighs heavily on the poet throughout the series, imbuing it with a melancholic, elegiac tone. Whether Lucy was based on a real woman or was a figment of the poet's imagination has long been a matter of debate among scholars. Generally reticent about the poems, Wordsworth never revealed the details of her origin or identity. Some scholars speculate that Lucy is based on his sister Dorothy, while others see her as a fictitious or hybrid character. Most critics agree that she is essentially a literary device upon whom he could project, meditate and reflect.
