"The Edgar Kennedy Show" is coming soon from the creators of the original1980s hit PBS series Matinee at the Bijou and Festival Films. Each half-hour episode will feature one of Edgar's riotous RKO shorts restored to hi-def and introduced by Kennedy biographer Bill Cassara. Edgar's 40-year film career will be highlighted, including his work with Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, Our Gang, the Marx Bros. and Keystone Kops.
Funnyman Edgar Kennedy was America's first sitcom star. He played himself in 103 two-reel short subjects produced by RKO Radio Pictures between 1931 and 1948. In each episode Edgar is surrounded by a zany dysfunctional family consisting of dizzy wife, meddling mother-in-law and shiftless brother-in- law. Sound familiar?

"The Edgar Kennedy Show" is coming soon from the creators of the original1980s hit PBS series Matinee at the Bijou and Festival Films. Each half-hour episode will feature one of Edgar's riotous RKO shorts restored to hi-def and introduced by Kennedy biographer Bill Cassara. Edgar's 40-year film career will be highlighted, including his work with Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, Our Gang, the Marx Bros. and Keystone Kops.
Funnyman Edgar Kennedy was America's first sitcom star. He played himself in 103 two-reel short subjects produced by RKO Radio Pictures between 1931 and 1948.
