A twig is a small thin terminal branch of a woody plant. The buds on the twig are an important diagnostic characteristic, as are the abscission scars where the leaves have fallen away. The color, texture, and patterning of the twig bark are also important, in addition to the thickness and nature of any pith of the twig.
There are two types of twig, vegetative twigs and fruiting spurs. Fruiting spurs are specialized twigs that generally branch off the sides of branches and leading twigs, and are stubby and slow-growing, with many annular ring markings from seasons past. The age and rate of growth of a twig can be determined by counting the winter terminal bud scale scars, or annular ring marking, down the length of the twig. Are also these are as the many resources for utility or useful to others.
Richard David James (born 18 August 1971), best known under the pseudonym Aphex Twin, is a British electronic musician and composer. He founded the record label Rephlex Records in 1991 with Grant Wilson-Claridge. He was described by The Guardian as "the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music."
Aphex Twin has also recorded music under the aliases AFX, Blue Calx, Bradley Strider, Caustic Window, DJ Smojphace, GAK, Martin Tressider, Polygon Window, Power-Pill, Prichard D. Jams, Q-Chastic, Tahnaiya Russell, The Dice Man, Soit-P.P., and speculatively The Tuss.
Aphex Twin has released recordings on Rephlex, Warp, R&S, Sire, Mighty Force, Rabbit City, and Men Records.
Richard David James was born to Welsh parents Lorna and Derek James in St. Munchin's Limerick Regional Maternity Hospital, Ireland. He grew up in Lanner, Cornwall, enjoying, along with two older sisters, a "very happy" childhood during which they, according to James, "were pretty much left to do what [they] wanted." He "liked growing up there, being cut off from the city and the rest of the world". James attended Redruth School, located in Redruth, Cornwall.
Slim Twig is a Canadian songwriter/performer and film actor.
Slim Twig is the stage and screen persona created by Max Turnbull. He was born in 1988, the son of Toronto-based filmmakers, Ross Turnbull and Jennifer Hazel and graduated from the Claude Watson School of the Arts in 2006. In 2008, Slim was called “an icon-in-the-making...” and named Toronto's Best Pop/Rock Artist of the year by Now Magazine. He is currently signed to Paper Bag Records.
Slim Twig played 'Billy Zero' in the 2007 film, The Tracey Fragments, directed by Bruce McDonald and starring Ellen Page. Slim was cast as 'Max' in French director Kim Chapiron's film, Dog Pound, set in a juvenile detention centre, and plays the lead character in an independent feature film entitled Sight Unseen, for which he also composed the score. He has acted in other commercial productions and shorts and composed music for films.
In addition to Slim Twig-branded music, Slim fronts Tropics, a “Guitar vs. Drums” duo (with Simone TB on drums) that plays what Pitchfork Media called “a feral take on the Birthday Party's blitzkrieg blues.” Slim Twig also pursues a second solo project called Archaic Women. Tropics was accorded the top rating by Chart Magazine at the Canadian Music Week festival in March, 2008. In 2009, Tropics released a cassette tape entitled SETTE and Archaic Women released a cassette tape entitled The Hit Sixties.
(Beck speaking:)
[ya know how it is
It's like, my lady's gone, y'know...
I just let my twig fly in the wind
You know it's like the branch broken
It's like, I let my twig fly in the wind
Sometimes I need a little kindling (laughter),
Sometimes I kindle up a slight...combustion of fire
I let my twig burn in the wind
Ya know what I'm sayin?
It's like a twig...it's like a stick
But it's more portable (more laughter)
It's like my own portable twig, y'know what I'm sayin?
I let it fly in the wind
You know, sometimes I get lonely
And I let my twig fly in the wind...
Yeah... it's like that, y'know] (music begins...)
Some weepy creepy willow pillow boggy shit
Transcendental big wheel can you feel it
Trippy face down trippin' so damn hard
Head splits open stuffin' spills out into the car
Drink a cup of dirty water and a load of bony frog
Slip me seven dollars and I'll pump it full of smog
Paint a monkey gold and let it loose downtown
Start him with a smile and he come back with a frown
He's just a twig in the wind
Twig in the wind (a bunch of times)
All right
I'm happy feelin' crappy in your nappy little car
Squozen frozen duplicated drunk in a bar
Tape recorded all distorted genius machine
Spokesmodel dipped in refried beans
Piggys pay full price (?) to take them down to the dump
Dusty busty skeletons who pay at the pump
Multi-nippled rotating DJ sap
I'm shoulder high in crap and my water wings are flat
I'm just a twig in the wind...
Twig in the wind
Twig in the wind
Wheeeeeeeee!

Eternal creator
Eternal creator of the world
Who rules the day
Who rules the night
Who give the hours their time
The herald of day
Watchman of the deepest night
Call forth a nocturnal light
Dividing night from night
In him the morning star arises
Break the darkness of the sky
In him the host of wanderers
Leave the way of the wicked lie
Look upon the fallen my lord
Set straight with your glance
Scatter sleep from our minds
