"Declaration of War on the US by Adolf Hitler"
"Deputies, Men of the German Reichstag! A year of events of historical significance is drawing to an end. A year of great decisions lies ahead. In these serious times, I speak to you, deputies of the German Reichstag, as the representatives of the German nation. Beyond and above that, the whole German people should take note of this glance into the past, as well as of the coming decisions the present and future impose upon us.
After the renewed refusal of my peace offer in January 1940 by the then British Prime Minister and the clique which supported or dominated him, it became clear that this war - against all reasons of common sense and necessity - must be fought to its end. You know me, my old Party companions; you know I have always been an enemy of half measures or weak decisions.
If the Providence has so willed that the German people cannot be spared this fight, then I can only be grateful that it entrusted me with the leadership in this historic struggle which, for the next 500 or 1,000 years, will be described as decisive, not only for the history of Germany, but for the whole of Europe and indeed the whole world.
The German people and their soldiers are working and fighting today, not only for the present, but also for the coming, nay the most distant, generations. The Creator has imposed a historical revision on a unique scale upon us.
Shortly after the end of the campaign in Norway, the German Command was forced, first of all, to ensure the military security of the conquered areas. Since then the defences of the conquered countries have changed considerably. From Kirkenes to the Spanish Frontier there is a belt of great bases and fortifications; many airfields have been built, naval bases with protection for submarines, which are practically invulnerable from sea or air.
More than 1,500 new batteries have been planned and constructed. A network of roads and railways was constructed so that today communications from the Spanish Frontier to Petsano are independent of the sea. These installations in no way fall behind those of the Western Wall, and work continues incessantly on strengthening them. I am irrevocably determined to make the European Front unassailable by any enemy.
This defensive work was supplemented by offensive warfare. German surface and underwater naval Forces carried on their constant war of attrition against the British Merchant Navy and the ships in its service. The German Air Force supported these attacks by reconnaissance, by damaging enemy shipping, by numerous retaliatory raids which have given the English a better idea of the ‘ ever so charming ’ war caused by their present Prime Minister.
In the middle of last year Germany was supported above all by Italy. For many months a great part of British power weighed heavily on the shoulders of Italy. Only because of their tremendous superiority in heavy tanks could the English create a temporary crisis in North Africa. On 24th March a small community of German-Italian units under Rommel's command began the counter-attack.
The German Africa Corps performed outstanding achievements though they were completely unaccustomed to the climate of this theatre of war. Just as once in Spain, now in North Africa Germans and Italians have taken up arms against the same enemy.
While with these bold measures the North African Front was again secured by the blood of German and Italian soldiers, the shadow of a terrible danger threatening Europe gathered overhead. Only in obedience of bitter necessity did I decide in my heart in 1939, to make the attempt, or at least, to create the prerequisites for a lasting peace in Europe by eliminating the causes of German-Russian tension.
This was psychologically difficult owing to the general attitude of the German people, and above all, of the party, towards Bolshevism. It was not difficult from a purely material point of view - because Germany was only intent on her economic interests in all the territories which England declared to be threatened by us and which she attacked with her promises of aid- for you will allow me to remind you that England, throughout the spring and late summer of 1939, offered its aid to numerous countries, declaring that it was our intention to invade those countries and thus deprive them of their liberty.
The German Reich and its Government were therefore able to affirm, with a clear conscience, that these allegations were false and had no bearing whatsoever on reality. Add to this the military realization that in the case of war, which British diplomacy was to force on the German people, a two front war would ensue and call for very great sacrifice.
When, on top of all this, the Baltic States and Rumania showed themselves prone to accept the British Pacts of assistance, and thus let it be seen

Red is the colour of Life, of Death, and of Love. Scarlett, my first child, was born in 2005, and since then I have been very aware of how lucky we all are. I have been constantly comparing this to the fact that my mother was born in Warsaw in 1942 - the epicentre of World War II. How opposite can two beginnings be? This inspired me to produce the Extended Play installation, which continuously and positively celebrates hope and new beginnings, for child survivors in all situations around the world.
The original idea for the composition, came from learning about the 'Jodoform' system of secret musical messages, that were broadcast by the BBC World Service, during World War II. The music they played was given a particular meaning, which was interpreted by The Polish Underground. I discovered from the original Jodoform log book, that the lovely Polish folk song 'Tango Lyczakowskie', was broadcast on the day my mother was born. The song describes how children in 1918, had been forced to take up arms, in defence of their town. From this tune, I chose a short rising musical phrase, and with my arranger Michael Jennings, developed a ten minute score. Each of the three solo parts was then recorded separately, edited, and cut onto vinyl. In the gallery, 3 x Cello EP's, 3 x Piano EP's, and 3 x Violin EP's are played at either 33, 45, or 78rpm using nine retro record players. These play continuously, and each was modified to stop playing briefly in response to the audience moving around the exhibition. This has the effect of changing and extending the composition, so that it is never the same again.
In 2008 the project won The British Composer of the Year Award for Sonic Art & The Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers Prize.

As part the commemorative events to celebrate 200 years of Colombia´s Independence, poet William Ospina, on behalf of the city´s “Comisión Bicentenario”, invited El Colegio del Cuerpo de Cartagena de Indias, directed by Álvaro Restrepo and Marie France Delieuvin, to present their choreographic symphony Inxilio: The Trail of Tears. This piece o was performed in Bogotá on December 11 and 12, 2010 at the
Coliseo Cubierto el Campín.
Inxilio is homage to the millions of people in Colombia who are suffering from forced displacement caused by armed conflict. 150 Colombians coming from all over the country and who have suffered in their own flesh from this pain participated in the act along with 25 dancers from El Colegio del Cuerpo and 25 actors from different acting schools from the capital city. The Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá participated in it too, interpreting Polish composer Henryk Gorecki´s The Symphony of Lamentations.

"Diving the Yamashiro wreck" _Russian_English
LOST IN THE DEPTH
World Ocean is still a place concealing multitudes of secrets – some of them ancient as time itself, some of them relatively new – just centuries or even dozens of years old. One of the more recent mysteries is the sinking of Yamashiro, a Japanese WWII Battleship that was sent to the bottom of Surigao Straits, Southern Philippines, by US Forces in the last major naval battle of the Second World War. Ever since, historians have been arguing about the exact location of Yamashiro’s final rest, and the 60-year old argument is still continuing. John Bennett, the former champion in deep scuba diving, made it the purpose of his life to resolve that mystery, people say that even his 1000-foot record-braking dive was aimed more at attracting enough sponsors to find the elusive battleship than at record-breaking as such. Alas, John died tragically, before he could live the dream of his life – touch the Yamashiro with his own hand.
NARRATOR: John Bennett went diving exactly because he was attracted by the mystery of sunken ships or “wrecks” as the divers call them. As you swim along a wreck claimed by one of the wars, he said once, you feel your link to human history, you see the ship and you feel it, you become one with it for that short duration of a deep dive…
The depth, however, was not the only thing that attracted John to Yamashiro, although the battleship is supposed to be anywhere from a mind-boggling 350 to 500 feet. There was more to it than the sheer challenge of the depth: no one had seen the battleship since the night of its sinking, and John wanted to break through the shroud of mystery, to be the first to discover it in its watery grave.
In the fall of 1997 the remains of once-mighty Imperial Navy of Japan set out on one of its last voyages. Their target was the Gulf of Leyte where the US forces were engaged in a major landing operation in order to secure an all-important strategic beachhead in the Philippines. The biggest Japanese force under the command of Vice Admiral Kurita was approaching Leyte from the North, spearheaded by the two super-battleships Yamato and Musashi, still considered by many the most powerful and beautiful warships ever made. Another force, somewhat less powerful, was closing in on Leyte from the south, going through the Surigao Straits. The southern force was based around two sister battleships, Yamashiro and Fuso. Both of them were about 600 feet long and 100 feet wide, with the tall superstructures that the Americans dubbed “Pagodas” amidships, slightly toward the bow.
Kurita’s northern force of the IJN was experiencing setbacks from the very start. It was detected and identified by a US submarine when it was still quite some distance from Leyte and was attacked by US aircraft more than once. Suffering losses and slowing down, it was still steaming ahead. The southern force commanded by Rear Admiral Nishimura seemed to be much luckier at first. It reached as far as the Straits of Surigao practically undetected by the enemy, they were only attacked once, early in the morning of October 24, on the eve of their mortal combat. In the evening of the same day the IJN warships led by the battleship Yamashiro entered the narrow Straits, steaming full seed ahead, toward the American beachhead on Leyte. At the exit from the Straits, however, their luck seemed to have run out, for there, lying in wait for them, was deployed a huge assembly of American naval forces. Nishimura’s two old battleships, four destroyers and one heavy cruiser all of a sudden faced a grouping of six battleships in the classic battle line formation across the straits, reinforced by dozens of cruisers, destroyers and PT boats. Seven Japanese major ships against 43 American ones, not to mention the 39 PT boats.
Did Nishimura know they were there? Yes he did, he had exact reconnaissance about the force waiting for him, but he still pressed on with his squadron, straight into the deadly trap.
Why did he decide to proceed on what was looking more and more like a suicide mission? We will never know for sure now, but he probably decided to engage the superior American fleet mainly to distract the attention from Kurita’s force, approaching Leyte from the North. Kurita’s force, consisting of five battleships, 12 cruisers and 13 destroyers, 30 ships all in all, seemed
