Hyde in Hollywood (Complete play) - Gay, Closeted, Gossip, Blackmail & Revenge
From American Playhouse, 1991. The PBS series was essential for those not living in big cities with a large theater district. It was often the only way for them to see a play, especially lesser known ones like this. Even NYers like myself would never have seen this had an older friend not donated it to my archives. Younger viewers who have never seen a play or black & white movie may be annoyed by the rapid-fire somewhat unrealistic dialogue. For better or worse, that was the style of dialogue in 1939, and playwright Peter Parnell did a good job capturing its flavor. Many younger viewers may also be confused by some of the references. For example, Hedda and Luella refer to two of the most powerful gossip columnists at the time, Hedda Hopper and Luella Parsons. They were competitors and can make or break an actor's career. There are also a lot of references to the Studio System. In Hollywood's Golden Age, the movie studios were self-contained mini-universes. And if they gave you a contract, you basically belonged to them. They control your life, and can trade and lend you to other studios like property. There is also a lot of celebrity name dropping, which you can mostly ignore. It's just an attempt to emphasize the 1939 setting. 7.4/10 stars on imdb.com www.imdb.com Amazon www.amazon.com

Daniel Rocket Rap
Beat is "Death Bed" produced by 2Deep for Shadowville Productions. Please note that I don't own or claim to own this beat. This is Kromz's sexy new single, "Fly Away From Here (Daniel Rocket Rap)." Written and performed by Kromz Homes. To the layman, this song might seem as though it doesn't make sense. However, if you read or get a chance to see the play "The Rise and Rise of Daniel Rocket" by Peter Parnell, you will discover it is the greatest song ever recorded. Video by Rain & Neon Productions. The Cider House Rules Part 2 Lobby Video
The Cider House Rules Part 2: In other parts of the world Adapted by Peter Parnell from the novel by John Irving Conceived for the stage by Tom Hulce, Jane Jones and Peter Parnell Part II Plays at the Hilberry Theatre April 1 -- May 14, 2011 "You may disapprove, but you may not be ignorant or look away." The words of Dr. Wilbur Larch ring larger than life in this story of the birth, the spring and the autumn of what it means to be human as seen through the eyes of Homer Wells. Hungry for life's experiences, Homer ventures into the world and discovers that friendship and love have unexpected complications as his best friend is sent off to war and Homer falls passionately for his friend's girl. Passion leads to pregnancy and a return to the orphanage at St. Cloud's, where Homer resumes his mentor's work and realizes that life isn't always a matter of right and wrong, but frequently, some place in-between.

Texas fights.mov
This was my first big stunt coordinating gig, on the long since canceled Soap Opera "Texas." It was shot on location at the Brooklyn zoo, in Prospect Park. I've forgotten the actor's names, (update: I was cued by a YouTube viewer, and their names are Phillip Clark (Ryan Connor)and Ned Schmidtke (Peter Parnell)but they were game, physical, and able. Look for me in a cowboy hat early in the clip, and the late Jim Monitor taking a "ten dollar bump" with empty soda cans back lit in a tunnel. I remember that the elephants were upset, and the rhino tossed the zoo keeper into the air prior to filming, who was trying to calm him feeding him by hand from a bucket of fruit. I also remember that I had my hand almost smashed by an elephant that day. I was rehearsing the fight in the cage, and had climbed the fence as part of the staging. As I turned back to talk to the actors, my right hand on the top bar, I felt pressure. Turning to look, I saw one of the elephants pressing her forehead against my hand, which, after all WAS in her cage, if only by inches. She could have crushed my right hand easily, ending my career, but only pressed, to send me a message, I presume, to cease, or exit her cage. I did. Her skin pattern remained on my hand for hours. That, plus I almost self immolated by tossing a cigarette out the car service window, who had run over a muffler in Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza, puncturing his gas tank, and who parked to let me off under a river of gasoline! And Tango Makes Three Part I
Written by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, Illustrated by Henry Cole. This is a banned book, one of the most challenged this year, and so I thought reading it might give people an idea as to why. I don't believe any book should be banned, but be read and then discussed depending on the children's age at the parent's discretion. This is a book about the penguin Tango who was hatched by two male Penguins in Central Park Zoo.

And Tango Makes Three
Author's Note: All of the events in this story are true. Roy and Silo are called chinstrap penguins because of the delicate line of black feathers that loops under their beaks, as if to hold a hat in place. After years of living side by side in the Central Park Zoo, they discovered each other in 1998 and they have been a couple ever since. Tango, their only chick, was born from an egg laid by another penguin couple named Betty and Porkey. That couple had often hatched their own eggs, but they had never been able to care for more than one at a time. In 2000, when Betty laid two fertile eggs, Rob Gramzay decided to give Roy, Silo, and one of those eggs a chance to become a family. If you go to the Central Park Zoo, you can see Tango and her parents splashing about in the penguin house along with their friends, including Nipper, Squawk, Charlie, Wasabi, and Piwi. There are forty-two chinstrap penguins in the Central Park Zoo and over ten million chinstraps in the world. But there is only one Tango. by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, illustrated by Henry Cole Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2005

ON A CLEAR DAY Broadway Opening Night
The stars came out for the Broadway opening night of ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER. AN IMPOSSIBLE LOVE. AN IRRESISTIBLE MUSICAL. Three-time Grammy® Award winner, two-time Emmy® Award winner and Tony Award® nominee Harry Connick, Jr. stars in Broadway's new romantic musical. Mr. Connick plays Dr. Mark Bruckner, a down-to-earth psychiatrist who unknowingly takes on the case of his life with David Gamble, a quirky young florist's assistant. While putting David under hypnosis to help him quit smoking so he can move in with his perfect boyfriend, Warren, Dr. Bruckner stumbles upon what he believes to be David's former self—a dazzling and self-possessed 1940s jazz singer Melinda Wells. Dr. Bruckner finds himself suddenly swept off his feet by this beautiful woman—and swept into a world he never dreamed possible. This newly imagined Burton Lane/Alan Jay Lerner musical is directed by Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer, who teams with acclaimed writer Peter Parnell to bring an entrancing, new story to one of Broadway's most beautiful scores, which includes "Come Back to Me," "Too Late Now" and, of course, "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever," all performed by a full 19-piece orchestra. Filled with delightful surprises, a remarkable cast and the kind of hope only true love can bring, ON A CLEAR DAY is ready to open eyes—and hearts—all over Broadway.

Highlights from "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" Starring Harry Connick, Jr.
www.playbill.com "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever," the richly tuneful 1965 musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane, has been reincarnated on Broadway for stars Harry Connick, Jr. ("The Pajama Game"), David Turner ("In My Life," "Arcadia") and Broadway newcomer Jessie Mueller. Newly rethought by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer ("Spring Awakening," "American Idiot") and playwright Peter Parnell ("QED"), the romantic musical comedy tells the story of psychiatrist Dr. Mark Bruckner (Connick) who, while hypnotizing patient David Gamble (Turner), stumbles upon - and falls in love with - David's former self, 1940s jazz singer Melinda Wells (Mueller).
