National geographic explorer: inside LSD drugs documentary 2009
Could LSD be the next drug in your doctor's arsenal? New experiments have a few researchers believing that this trippy drug could become a pharmaceutical of the future. Outlawed in 1970, the street drug developed a reputation as the dangerous toy of the counterculture, capable of inspiring either moments of genius or a descent into madness. Now science is taking a fresh look into this psychedelic world, including the first human LSD trials in more than 35 years. LSD's inventor Albert Hofmann called it medicine for the soul. The Beatles wrote songs about it. Secret military mind control experiments exploited its hallucinogenic powers. Can it possibly enhance our brain power, expand our creativity, or cure diseases?- published: 02 Oct 2013

World's Scariest Drug (Documentary Exclusive)
VICE's Ryan Duffy went to Colombia to check out a strange and powerful drug called Scopolamine, also known as "The Devil's Breath." It's a substance so intense that it renders a person incapable of exercising free will. The first few days in the country were a harrowing montage of freaked-out dealers and unimaginable horror stories about Scopolamine. After meeting only a few people with firsthand experience, the story took a far darker turn than we ever could have imagined. Khat Power: The Latest War On Drugs
Khat is a chewable herbal stimulant, popular among the UK's Somali and Yemeni communities. Despite there being little or no evidence that the drug causes harm to its users, the British government is working to outlaw khat. Home Secretary Theresa May says she's worried that without a ban, the UK will become a hub for smuggling it to the US and Europe, where for the most part it is already illegal. Meanwhile, experts warn that a ban might alienate Somalis in the UK and cut off vital exports from Kenya, the UK's largest khat supplier. VICE News followed the khat trail, from the farms of Meru, central Kenya to the suburbs of west London, meeting businesspeople, users and community members all keen to have their say. With exclusive access to a London khat warehouse and khat cafes in the English capital and Nairobi, we explored the industry and the implications of a ban at home and abroad. Smugglers are happy, the youth of Kenya are not. Drug Frenzy: China's New Consumer Boom - Part 1
Drugs are pouring out of Burma into a booming China. With cash to spend and a rocketing drug culture, it's a social and legal time bomb. For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=65996&bid;=2 Heroin and other dangerous drug traffic is pouring out of a newly unshackled Myanmar and into a booming, cashed-up China. As the country's drug culture sky-rockets, the narcotics are threatening social chaos. China is now a major international supplier of precursor chemicals for the manufacture of the frightening and ruinous drug Ice and other new-generation drugs. "The quickest way to make a fortune is to deal drugs - to sell drugs here", Professor Wu Jiang tell us. This report takes us right into the heart of the illicit tearaway trade on the Myanmar border, where drugs flow through in huge quantities. But for the Chinese it's not just the through traffic of drugs that's worrying. "The number of drug dealers doesn't seem to change much, but there are many more drug users", a Chinese man on the border explains. In the super-cities like Shanghai, unlike previous generations China's partying young are driving a booming market in so-called recreational drugs. It has become, "fun and fashionable to take drugs". One credible report estimates the number of registered drug addicts has grown from 70,000 in 1990 to nearly 2 million a year ago. The number of regular drug users may be as high as 12 million. If it continues to grow exponentially, it's a social, health and legal time bomb for the Chinese authorities. ABC Australia- published: 14 Oct 2013

The Meth Epidemic (Documentary About Drugs)
The Meth Epidemic (Documentary About Drugs)
In low doses, methamphetamine can cause an elevated mood and increase alertness, concentration, and energy in fatigued individuals. At higher doses, it can induce psychosis, rhabdomyolysis and cerebral hemorrhage. Methamphetamine is known to have a high potential for abuse and addiction. Recreational use of methamphetamine may result in psychosis or lead to post-withdrawal syndrome, a withdrawal syndrome that can persist for months beyond the typical withdrawal period. Unlike amphetamine and cocaine, methamphetamine is neurotoxic to humans, damaging both dopamine and serotonin neurons in the central nervous system (CNS). Entirely opposite to the long-term use of amphetamine, there is evidence that methamphetamine causes brain damage from long-term use in humans; this damage includes adverse changes in brain structure and function, such as reductions in gray matter volume in several brain regions and adverse changes in markers of metabolic integrity.- published: 09 Jan 2014
