The 2000 DFB-Ligapokal was the fourth edition of the DFB Liga-Pokal. Bayern Munich won the competition for the fourth consecutive year, beating Hertha BSC 5–1 in the final.

Oliver Rolf Kahn (German pronunciation: [ˈɔ.lɪ.vɐ ˈkʰaːn], byname Der Titan [deɐ̯ ti.ˈtʰaːn] (the Titan); born 15 June 1969) is a former German football goalkeeper. He started his career in the Karlsruher SC Junior team. He had his debut game in the professional squad in 1987. In 1994, he was transferred to Bayern Munich for the fee of 4,600,000 DM, where he played until the end of his career in 2008.

He is one of the most successful German players in recent history, having won eight German championships, six German cups, the UEFA Cup (1996), the UEFA Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup (both 2001). His individual contributions have earned him four consecutive UEFA Best European Goalkeeper awards, three IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper awards, and two German Footballer of the Year trophies. At the 2002 FIFA World Cup, he became the first and only goalkeeper in the tournament's history to win the Golden Ball.

From 1994 to 2006, Kahn was part of the German national team, in which he played as a starter after the retirement of Andreas Köpke. In the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the team reached the Finals. While the team was several times derided for their poor performance, Kahn's prowess proved to be the deciding factor in several games up until the final, where Germany lost to Brazil 0–2 and Kahn received criticism for two blunders. Nonetheless, he was named the tournament's best player and received the Golden Ball award.

Mohamed Abdullah Zidan (Arabic: محمد عبد الله زيدان ‎) (born December 11, 1981 in Port Said) is an Egyptian footballer who also has German citizenship. He currently plays as a striker for the German club Mainz 05 as well as the Egyptian national team. He is the only player in the history of the Bundesliga to score in each of his first six games with his new club. He is known for putting unique designs in his hair.

Mohamed Zidan was born in Port Said, Egypt, to an Egyptian family. His career started as a striker for his hometown club Al-Masry in 1998. Al-Masry dropped Zidan because of a perceived lack of passing ability leading to his family moving to Denmark. In his first year in Denmark, while training with B93 for a contract, he played a few games for the Danish-Turkish club FC Anatolien, now Kokkedal BK, in Nivå in the Northern Seeland of Denmark. Zidan was scouted by the Danish Superliga club Akademisk Boldklub (AB) while he was juggling a ball at a Danish park in 1999. In June 2003, he moved to the league rivals FC Midtjylland (FCM), as AB experienced financial hardship. At FCM, he became the league's top scorer in the 2003–04 season, and he was awarded the Rookie of the year award, becoming Player of the Year the following season. In all, he scored 30 goals in 47 appearances for FC Midtjylland, and especially his nine goals in the first three games of FCM's newly built SAS Arena stadium, made the stadium colloquially known as "Zidan Arena". Also, his number 14 shirt was retired.

Samuel Osei Kuffour (born 3 September 1976) is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as a defender.

Known for his great physical power, he is best remembered for his time with Bayern Munich, whom he represented for over a decade, winning a total of 17 major titles, and playing in nearly 250 official matches.

Kuffour appeared with the Ghanaian national team in the 2006 World Cup, as well as in four Africa Cup of Nations.

Born in Kumasi, Kuffour was brought to Europe by Torino F.C. in 1991 aged just 15, after playing junior football for local teams in his native country. He joined FC Bayern Munich in 1993 from the Italian club. After a loan spell with 1. FC Nuremberg in 1995–96 he made his breakthrough at Bayern.

Kuffour spent 11 seasons with Bayern, raising from the youth teams to be a prominent first-squad member who lifted the UEFA Champions League with the club. He was an integral part of the Bayern squad that won the 2000–01 Champions League, also scoring the winning goal in the 2001 Intercontinental Cup, being subsequently named man of the match. Also in that year, he finished second in African Footballer of the Year's voting, repeating the feat accomplished in 1999.

Sebastian Toni Deisler (German pronunciation: [ze.ˈbas.ti̯an ˈdaɪ̯s.lɐ]; born 5 January 1980 in Lörrach) is a former professional football player and a former international player for Germany. During his career, Deisler was employed as right winger and attacking midfielder.

Having been hailed as the future of German football at the turn of the millennium, Deisler's career proved a disappointment as the midfielder never managed to really tap his full potential due to several cruciate ligament ruptures and other major injuries, as well as depression. Deisler retired from professional football in January 2007 at the age of 27.

Deisler joined his first club, FV Turmringen, when he was only six. At age 15, he was scouted and signed by the Fußball-Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach and played for the club at junior level from 1995 to 1998. He started his professional career at the club in 1998, subsequently making 17 Bundesliga appearances and scoring one goal in the league during the 1998–99 season which saw the Foals finish last.
