Nishkam
Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded during the 15th century in the Punjab region, by Guru Nanak Dev and continued to progress with ten successive Sikh gurus (the last teaching being the holy scripture Gurū Granth Sāhib Ji). It is the fifth-largest organized religion in the world, with over 25 million Sikhs and one of the most steadily growing. This system of religious philosophy and expression has been traditionally known as the Gurmat (literally 'of the gurus'). Punjab of India is the only region in the world with a majority Sikh population.
Sikhs embody the qualities of a "Sant-Sipahie"—a saint-soldier. One must have control over one's internal vices and be able to be constantly immersed in virtues clarified in the Guru Granth Sahib. A Sikh must also have the courage to defend the rights of all who are wrongfully oppressed or persecuted irrespective of religion, colour, caste or creed.
The principal beliefs of Sikhi are faith and justice, in Waheguru—represented by the phrase ik ōaṅkār, meaning one God. Sikhi advocates the pursuit of salvation through personal meditation on the name and message of God. The followers of Sikhi are ordained to follow the teachings of the ten Sikh gurus, or enlightened leaders, as well as the holy scripture entitled the Gurū Granth Sāhib Ji, which, along with the writings of six of the ten Sikh Gurus, includes selected works of many devotees from diverse socio-economic and religious backgrounds. It is believed that the text was decreed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth guru, as the final guru of the Sikh religion. Sikhi's traditions and teachings are associated with the history, society and culture of Punjab.

Harmandir Sahib - Golden Temple
Its name literally means Temple of God.The fourth guru of Sikhism, Guru Ram Das, excavated a tank in 1577 CE which subsequently became known as Amritsar (meaning "Pool of the Nectar of Immortality"),[6] giving its name to the city that grew around it. In due course, a splendid Sikh edifice, Harmandir Sahib (meaning "the abode of God"),[7] rose in the middle of this tank and became the supreme centre of Sikhism. Its sanctum came to house the Adi Granth comprising compositions of Sikh gurus and other saints considered to have Sikh values and philosophies, e.g., Baba Farid, and Kabir. The compilation of the Adi Granth was started by the fifth guru of Sikhism, Guru Arjan Dev. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmandir_Sahib)

Making Me
my intent was to express my personal struggle of freeing my inner self or breaking apart from any religiously-structured laws which can dictate how one lives a life...
my personal experience shows that this can take a long time to achieve...
the sanctions which are held within these cults, creeds, or systems of superhumans/divinity were once frightening to me and, to make a longer story shorter, i eventually grew tired of apologizing for being human. i also feel that the only thing that i truly can own is myself, so why give that away?
right now i do not have sufficient evidence that proves that there is a divine creator - at least not the types of evidence which would allow my character to adhere to any religious law. and the only type of "worshipping" i can do is through the respect of nature.
reality is enough for me. at the same time, however, i won't argue and believe that there is no divine being or god. i feel like that's just the same as worshipping one. evolution is arguably the most realistic theory, but it is only that - a theory. so i have falsifiable theory or subjective belief to choose between. but i don't like those limitations. not one bit. which is why i have declared myself agnostic.
i made this soundscape (or spiritual collage :)) and video along with it's short descriptive text because i have that right. the process of this creation reflects my recent exploration of some of the world's most popular religions (and also reflects some other more personal experiences - some of which is included in this text). i won't always agree with your beliefs, but i will ALWAYS honor your right to practice your beliefs and to believe and say whatever you want.
while researching these religions from an objective and impartial point-of-view, i was VERY interested in the dynamics of their belief structures, the history, the architectural qualities of the places of worship, the gods, goddesses, and demi-gods, the ancient texts, the music, and of course, the iconography and symbolism. hinduism, judaism, buddhism, sikhism, islam, and christianity were studied. although i didn't include anything specific about the ancient native-american tribal beliefs in this video, i have read a bit about these basics, and found them very fascinating and at times found it hard to keep the research process objective due to the fact that my own personal set of values and stance toward what is unknown was "in compliance" or "agreeable" with my understanding of the particular tribes'. ok just so there is no misunderstanding, all i'm saying is that i think ancient native-american tribal beliefs are really interesting and valuable to everyone on earth.
i'm actually taking a course in cultural anthropology at the moment and many many religious beliefs have been topics of discussion, as well as the more generalized areas of study (like the difference between theory and belief). the things i have learned in this class are fantastic and i would recommend studying cultural anthropology to everyone in the world. i think linguistics and culture are the most interesting sub-fields of anthropology!
UPDATE:
i am now a Hindu :)

"Japji Sahib" Full Path by Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE
To listen to Full Path of Jap Ji Sahib with Captions in Punjabi/English and Translation, please visit; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J6vHkx78pE&feature;=related
This is a home video of Siree Jap Ji Sahib recorded by Bibi Gurdev kaur in 1994 for her first talking book of Gurbani that includes; Jap Ji sahib, rehraas Sahib and Kirtan Sohila. Her brother Gurmit Singh of Jyoti Arts Patiala shot the viideo at home.
Jap Ji Sahib consists of the Mool Mantra, an opening Salok, a set of 38 Paurees (Hymns) and a final Salok. This Bani is inscribed at the very beginning of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It explains how the barriers of deceit and falsehood can be broken in life and how to become one with God.
This is the most important Bani or 'set of verses', and is recited by all Sikhs every morning. The word 'Jap' means to 'recite'/'to 'chant'/'to stay focused onto'. 'Ji' is a word that is used to show respect as is the word 'Sahib'
This Bani was composed by the founder of the Sikh faith, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who was the first of ten human Gurus of this faith. The Ten Gurus of Sikhism were responsible for the creation of this faith which took place over period 1469 to 1708 - a period of about 239 years. At the point when the last of these Gurus, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, departed this Earth, the Guruship was passed to the Holy Book, Siree Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Siree Guru Granth Sahib Ji is treated as a living Guru and the respect shown for Thy Commandments is unique. This Bani encompasses the spirit & theme of whole of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE recites Jap Ji Sahib in her melodious voice. Everyone can join in and read along as this recitation provides subtitles in Punjabi and English both. Bibiji recorded the recitation of this Bani in 1993 for her Talking Book of Three Sikh Prayers, . For her outstanding contributions to religious and cultural literature for children born and bred in the western hemisphere, she has been honoured by many Sikh organisatins including Shromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar and Dehli Gurdwara Parbandhak Committre. She was awarded "Sharomani Bal Sahitkar" award by Punjab Bhasha Vibhag in 1997.
