To promote the possibilities of this device for new applications, it will be packaged as a small, inexpensive FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrometer module that can be built into instruments. From June 2013, engineering samples of this new device will be provided to instrument manufacturers. Commercialization of the MEMS FTIR spectrometer module is scheduled for fall 2013. The new MEMS FTIR spectrometer module will be exhibited from February 5 to 7 at Photonics West 2013 (San Francisco, California), one of the world's largest trade shows for optical components and photonics instruments.
