A crew of 3 transfer Brancaleon, a full bilge keel wooden sailing yacht, across the Mediterranean Sea, from Kos, Greece, to Siracuse in Sicily. Seven days and seven nights, non stop. Strong headwinds, found along most of our route, force us to adopt an aggressive strategy to make up for the inefficient rig of our craft and it's inability to sail close to the wind, making the "escape" from the Aegean harder work than what we'd baragained for and forcing us uncomfortably close to the north african coast in what was the hottest moment of the Libya crisis. A last minute change from easterlies to a northeasterly breeze puts us on course for a magnificent 3 day romp across the Libyan sea in up to force 7 gales with full sails set.
