This show from the same year was recorded at The Bayou in Washington DC and is sure to please any southern rock fan.

Franck Ferrand nous replonge dans la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Sous un angle à la fois très important et très négligé. Nous irons voir ce qui s'est passé au Moyen-Orient entre 39 et 45.
Franck Ferrand a choisi de nous raconter la campagne de Syrie. Cet affrontement terrible, fratricide, à l'été 1941, d'une France contre une autre -- la France de Londres contre celle de Vichy.

Au crépuscule de son règne, Hitler regretta d'avoir négligé le Moyen-Orient : " Tout l'Islam vibrait aux nouvelles de nos victoires ", déclarait-il alors.
Mais l'idéologie nazie a-t-elle réellement trouvé des relais en Iran, en Palestine, en Irak ou en Egypte ? Le monde arabe a-t-il effectivement collaboré avec l'Axe ou fut-il un soutien des Alliés ?
Pour répondre à ces questions controversées, et à bien d'autres, Christian Destremau retrace ici les principales étapes de la Seconde Guerre mondiale au Moyen-Orient, tant du point de vue des belligérants européens que de celui, trop souvent négligé ou caricaturé, des pays de la région, de leurs élites et de leurs peuples.
La guerre en Cyrénaïque, mais aussi la politique du Reich en Palestine, le coup d'Etat antibritannique en Irak, le rôle précis de l'Iran et des Etats-Unis ou la politique de Vichy en Syrie sont ainsi racontés pour la première fois.
En portant le regard sur ce théâtre d'opérations méconnu mais d'une importance capitale, notamment en raison des puits de pétrole et de la question de la Palestine, c'est toute la Seconde Guerre mondiale qui prend un nouveau relief.

Lebanon (/ˈlɛbənɒn/ or /ˈlɛbənən/; Arabic: لبنان Libnān or Lubnān; Lebanese Arabic: [lɪbˈneːn]; Aramaic: לבנאנ), officially the Lebanese Republic (Arabic: الجمهورية اللبنانية Al-Jumhūrīyah Al-Libnānīyah; Lebanese Arabic: [elˈʒʊmhuːɾɪjje l.ˈlɪbneːnɪjje]), is a country in Western Asia. It is bordered by Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south. Lebanon's location at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin and the Arabian hinterland has dictated its rich history and shaped a cultural identity of religious and ethnic diversity.
The earliest evidence of civilization in Lebanon dates back more than seven thousand years, predating recorded history. Lebanon was the home of the Phoenicians, a maritime culture that flourished for over a thousand years (c. 1550--539 BC). In 64 BC, the region came under the rule of the Roman Empire, and eventually became one of the Empire's leading centers of Christianity. In the Mount Lebanon range a monastic tradition known as the Maronite Church was established. As the Arab Muslims conquered the region, the Maronites held onto their religion and identity. However, a new religious group, the Druze, established themselves in Mount Lebanon as well, a religious divide that would last for centuries. During the Crusades, the Maronites re-established contact with the Roman Catholic Church and asserted their communion with Rome. The ties they established with the Latins have influenced the region into the modern era.

Henri Fernand Dentz (16 December 1881 – 13 December 1945) was an officer in the French Army (Armée de Terre) and, after France surrendered during World War II, he served with the Vichy French Army.
On 16 December 1881, Henri Dentz was born in Roanne, Loire, France.
As Commander in Chief of the Army of the Levant (Armée du Levant) and as High Commissioner of the Levant, Dentz was in charge of the defence of the French Mandate of Syria and the French Mandate of Lebanon in the Middle East. Dentz commanded an army of approximately 45,000 men.
Vichy authorities allowed aircraft from the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) and the Italian Royal Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) to refuel in Syria and Lebanon before and during the Anglo-Iraqi War. After this, the Allies planned an invasion of the French mandates.
On 8 June 1941, a force of approximately 20,000 Australian, Indian, Free French, and British troops, under the command of Sir Henry M. Wilson, invaded Syria and Lebanon from the British Mandate of Palestine and from Iraq. Fierce fighting ensued and Dentz and the Vichy forces were methodically lost ground over a 13-day period. Damascus, the capital of Syria, was abandoned on 21 June 1941.

Another example of an unofficial release, distributed by Night Rider (a label which released other boots) but - anyhow, Henry Paul & Band did a great performance in 1979 supporting their debut album "Grey Ghost", recorded in 1978.

Au crépuscule de son règne, Hitler regretta d'avoir négligé le Moyen-Orient : " Tout l'Islam vibrait aux nouvelles de nos victoires ", déclarait-il alors.
Mais l'idéologie nazie a-t-elle réellement trouvé des relais en Iran, en Palestine, en Irak ou en Egypte ? Le monde arabe a-t-il effectivement collaboré avec l'Axe ou fut-il un soutien des Alliés ?
Pour répondre à ces questions controversées, et à bien d'autres, Christian Destremau retrace ici les principales étapes de la Seconde Guerre mondiale au Moyen-Orient, tant du point de vue des belligérants européens que de celui, trop souvent négligé ou caricaturé, des pays de la région, de leurs élites et de leurs peuples.
La guerre en Cyrénaïque, mais aussi la politique du Reich en Palestine, le coup d'Etat antibritannique en Irak, le rôle précis de l'Iran et des Etats-Unis ou la politique de Vichy en Syrie sont ainsi racontés pour la première fois.
En portant le regard sur ce théâtre d'opérations méconnu mais d'une importance capitale, notamment en raison des puits de pétrole et de la question de la Palestine, c'est toute la Seconde Guerre mondiale qui prend un nouveau relief.

It is bordered by Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south. Lebanon's location at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin and the Arabian hinterland has dictated its rich history and shaped a cultural identity of religious and ethnic diversity.
The earliest evidence of civilization in Lebanon dates back more than seven thousand years, predating recorded history. Lebanon was the home of the Phoenicians, a maritime culture that flourished for over a thousand years (c. 1550--539 BC). In 64 BC, the region came under the rule of the Roman Empire, and eventually became one of the Empire's leading centers of Christianity. In the Mount Lebanon range a monastic tradition known as the Maronite Church was established. As the Arab Muslims conquered the region, the Maronites held onto their religion and identity. However, a new religious group, the Druze, established themselves in Mount Lebanon as well, a religious divide that would last for centuries. During the Crusades, the Maronites re-established contact with the Roman Catholic Church and asserted their communion with Rome. The ties they established with the Latins have influenced the region into the modern era.
