The Cabinet of India (officially called the Union Council of Ministers of India) is the collective decision-making body of the Government of India, composed of the Prime Minister and 35 Cabinet Ministers, the most senior of the government ministers. The Cabinet is the ultimate decision-making body of the executive within the Westminster system of government in traditional constitutional theory.

The Union Cabinet of the Government of India was formed after the Indian general election, 2009 held in five phases in 2009: on 16 April, 22/23 April, 30 April, 7 and 13 May 2009. The results of the election were announced on 16 May 2009 and led to the formation of the 15th Lok Sabha. Manmohan Singh took oath as the 14th Prime Minister of India on 22 May 2009, followed by the oath-taking ceremonies of the present 'Council of Ministers' in two phases. Shashi Tharoor (Malayalam: ശശി തരൂര്‍) (born 9 March 1956) is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala. He previously served as the United Nations Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information^{[citation needed]} and as the Minister of State for the Ministry of External Affairs.

He is also an author and columnist.

Shashi Tharoor was born in London to Lily and Chandran Tharoor, both Malayalis, hailing from the state of Kerala^{[citation needed]}. Tharoor studied at Montfort School in Yercaud and Campion School in Mumbai^{[citation needed]}. He attended high school at St. Xavier’s Collegiate School in Kolkata and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.

He went on to win a scholarship to study at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and earned three degrees in three years - a Ph.D. and two master's degrees at the age of 22, Tharoor is the youngest person in the history of the Fletcher School to be awarded a doctorate. His doctoral thesis, "Reasons of State", was a required reading in courses on Indian foreign-policy making. In 2000, Tharoor was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree^{[citation needed]} by the University of Puget Sound and in 2008 he received an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Bucharest^{[citation needed]}.

Sunanda Pushkar is an Indian celebrity and businesswoman. She was sales director in a Dubai-based real estate company Tecom. She is the third wife of well-known politician and former United Nations Under Secretary General Shashi Tharoor. This is also her third marriage. Her first husband was Sanjay Raina, a Kashmiri. After that marriage ended in a divorce, she married a Kerala businessman Sujith Menon but he died in a road accident in 1997. She has a 19-year-old, Shiv Menon,from her second marriage. In April 2010, she voluntarily relinquished a stake in the Kochi IPL team estimated at Rs 70 crore, belonging to a family of landlords and Army officers from Bomai, 8 km from Sopore in the Kashmir Valley, India.

Ajay Makan (born 12 January 1964) is the current Sports minister and member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the New Delhi constituency of Delhi and is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party.

Ajay Maken, was elected the President of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) in 1985, having the rare honor of being the only B.Sc Chemistry(Hons)- Final Year student to serve this post.

His grandfather, Shri. O.P. Maken, was a freedom fighter and his uncle Mr. Lalit Maken was a popular trade union leader. Ajay Maken was subsequently was elected as the President of Delhi Transport Corporation Trade Union.

Mr. Ajay Maken has been elected a Member of Legislative Assembly from the Delhi constituency, for three consecutive terms. One of the 14 wins (of 70 candidates fielded) by the Congress(I).

1993. Won by a margin of 4,000 votes. (More than 50% of total votes polled.). One of the 14 winning candidates (of the 70 fielded) by the Congress(I).

1998. Won by a margin of 20,000 votes (70% of the total votes polled.) The Congress(I) took charge of the Delhi Legislature. Mr. Maken received his first appointment in the Delhi administration.

Shri Harish Rawat a politician from Indian National Congress party and a member of the 15th Lok Sabha. Previously he was a Member of the Parliament of India representing Uttarakhand in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament (2002–2008). He is currently a Minister of State in the Union Cabinet in the Ministry of Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs

Harish Rawat was born in village Mohanari, near Chaunalia, Almora district, on April 27, 1947 to Rajendra Singh Rawat and Devaki Devi.^{[citation needed]}

He did his B.A. and LL.B. from Lucknow University, Lucknow before joining politics

Starting at village level politics, and after staying as a Trade Unionist and an Indian Youth Congress member for many years, he joined the Indian Parliament in 1980 as a member of the 7th Lok Sabha by defeating the BJP veteran Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi from Almora parliamentary constituency, followed by the 8th Lok Sabha and the 9th Lok Sabha . He has been head of Congress Volunteer Wing Congress Sewa Dal since 1980.
