DEAD BODY WELCOME - Kees Brienen (the Netherlands, 2013, 73 min.) Synopsis: ‘DEAD BODY WELCOME’ is based on a true story about the journey filmmaker Kees Brienen undertook to see the phenomenon of the total solar eclipse. Upon arrival in India he finds out his best friend Ritchy had passed away. The trip suddenly becomes a search for a dead body, trying to understand and accept what had happened to him. Kees finds his friend up in the mountains, does what he needs to do, discovering new perspectives on friendship. A very short biography of Kees Brienen: After several years of traveling the world, Kees Brienen started studying filmmaking at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. During his studies the cinema developed itself from analog to digital. By organizing film festivals and events he examined these new developments and their implications for the language of moving images. The subject of his teaching. At pop temple Paradiso in Amsterdam he has been responsible for an unusual film program and programs related to filmmaking such as visual arts, electronic music and new media. In his desire to understand the new developments and to challenge them, he continued his research for festivals such as IDFA; International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam and IFFR International Film Festival Rotterdam.
