Channel NewsAsia (abbreviated CNA) is an English language pan-Asian news network based in Singapore and owned by MediaCorp. Started on 1 March 1999 based in Singapore by Television Corporation of Singapore, it was launched internationally on 12 February 2001 as the international broadcasting arm of Channel NewsAsia. It is now viewed in 24 territories across Asia. The satellite footprint of the channel stretches across the Middle East, much of Asia, and Australia. It is a major Asian news broadcaster with programmes telecast to more than 10 Asian countries and territories.

On 1 January 2005, Channel NewsAsia revamped the look of both feeds to a more contemporary feel. New hard studios were designed, replacing the virtual studios used in the past. The new look also introduced a simpler, more unified overall theme during news programs.

When an interviewee gives his/her views in a language other than English an Channel NewsAsia does not superimpose the original audio with a voice translation unlike other news organisations. Instead an English subtitle appears preserving and complementing the original audio. This includes programmes that use Indonesian and Malay as their main language.

Yingluck Shinawatra (Thai: ยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร, RTGS: Yinglak Chinnawat, Thai pronunciation: [jîŋ.lák tɕʰīn.nā.wát]; born 21 June 1967), or nickname Pu (Thai: ปู; Thai pronunciation: [pūː ]; "crab"), is a Thai businesswoman and politician, member of the Pheu Thai Party, who became the 28th and current Prime Minister of Thailand following the 2011 general election. Yingluck is Thailand's first female Prime Minister and at 44 is the youngest Prime Minister of Thailand in over 60 years.

Born in Chiang Mai province, Yingluck Shinawatra earned bachelor's degree from Chiang Mai University and master's degree from Kentucky State University, both in public administration. She became an executive in the businesses founded by her elder brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, and later became the president of property developer SC Asset and managing director of Advanced Info Service. Meanwhile, her brother Thaksin became Prime Minister, was overthrown in a military coup, and went into self-imposed exile after a tribunal convicted him of abuse of power.

Datuk Seri Michelle Yeoh or Michelle Yeoh Choo-Kheng (born 6 August 1963) is a Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress, well known for performing her own stunts in the action films that brought her to fame in the early 1990s.

Born in Ipoh, Malaysia, she is based in Hong Kong and was chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1997.

She is best known in the Western world for her roles in the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, playing Wai Lin, and the multiple Academy Award-winning Chinese-language martial arts film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, for which she was nominated the BAFTA for "Best Actress". In 2008, the film critic website Rotten Tomatoes ranked her the greatest action heroine of all time. In 2009, she was listed by People magazine – as the only Asian actress – as one of the "35 All-Time Screen Beauties".

She is credited as Michelle Khan in some of her earlier films. This alias was chosen by the D&B studio who thought it might be more marketable to international and western audiences. Yeoh later preferred using her real name.

Glenda Chong is currently based in Singapore as Channel NewsAsia flagship evening programme, Primetime Asia. Prior to her posting there, She was base in Shanghai for 3 years as Channel NewsAsia’s correspondent .

Glenda is an award-winning presenter. At the Asian Television Awards in 2001, she was named Best News Anchor, along with her co-presenter Melvin Yong. She was also awarded Best Presenter at MediaCorp’s Annual Excellence Awards in 2005.

Major breaking news stories that she has helmed include the 2006 Thai Coup and the 2004 Asian Tsunami. She also anchored ‘live’ election programmes such as Taiwan’s 2004 presidential election and Channel NewsAsia’s ‘live’ election night specials for Malaysia’s 2004 and 2008 General Elections.

Glenda attended CHIJ Katong Convent, Victoria Junior College and graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and holds a Masters of Social Sciences (International Studies) from the National University of Singapore.
