The distinctive houses of the Naxi people who live here and the intricate maze of waterways that criss-cross the town cast an almost dreamlike aura of a city lost in time. In a distance, the looming Jade Dragon Snow Mountain casts a shadow over the Old Town, which is said to have a history going back 800 years.
