STORYLINE:
Just several decades ago, the
Old Town of Lijiang in
Yunnan Province was an ancient enclave seemingly untouched by the ravages of modern life.
The distinctive houses of the Naxi people who live here and the intricate maze of waterways that criss-cross the town cast an almost dreamlike aura of a city lost in time.
In a distance, the looming
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain casts a shadow over the
Old Town, which is said to have a history going back 800 years.
