Steps#12: Die Welt tanzt an
Am 22. April startet die zwölfte Ausgabe von Steps, dem Tanzfestival des Migros-Kulturprozent. Zwölf Tanzensembles aus der ganzen Welt werden während dreier Wochen in der Schweiz zu Gast sein. Zwischen Chur, Genf, Basel und Chiasso sind achtzig Vorstellungen geplant. Neben den Gastspielen in den grossen Städten treten die internationalen Truppen auch in kleineren Orten auf wie z.B. Altdorf, Moutier, Steckborn und Verscio. Gegenüber den letzten Festivalausgaben erhält die Kulturvermittlung mehr Gewicht: In sieben Kantonen finden spezielle Schülerworkshops statt. Zudem profitiert das Publikum bei den meisten Vorstellungen von Einführungen oder Nachbesprechungen.
Mit dem Programm der 12. Ausgabe bietet Steps einen breit gefächerten Einblick in das aktuelle zeitgenössische Tanzschaffen. Das Festival präsentiert Vertreter der neuen Generation von Choreografen wie Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (Brüssel), Barak Marshall (Tel Aviv) oder Bruno Beltrao (Rio de Janeiro). Zu entdecken gibt es aber mit dem Mexiko-Amerikaner José Limón auch einen alten Meister des Fachs. Eröffnet wird das Festival am 22. April 2010 im Theater Winterthur mit dem Balé da Cidade de São Paulo. Das legendäre dreissigköpfige Ensemble hat sich als Plattform für Choreografen aus dem latein-amerikanischen und europäischen Raum etabliert. Bei der Premiere sind die drei Choreografen des Abends, Alex Soares, Itzik Galili und Cayetano Soto anwesend.
Zeitgenössischer Tanz für ein neues Publikum Die Vermittlung der Tanzkunst ist seit jeher ein besonderes Anliegen von Steps. Bei der zwölften Ausgabe erwarten die Veranstalter 5‘000 Schüler aus sieben Kantonen zu speziellen Workshops und Vorstellungen der holländischen Compagnie Introdans. In Zusammenarbeit mit den Künstlern und Veranstaltern profitiert das Publikum von zahlreichen Einführungen und Nachbesprechungen. Neue Wege geht das Tanzprojekt «Lüpf dini Schue», das mit Laien aus Schweizer Tanzschulen zeitgenössische Choreografien entwickelt. Für Tanzschaffende finden Workshops mit den gastierenden Compagnien statt und am 5. Mai reflektiert ein fachspezifisches Symposium über Kreativität und Karriere in der Choreographie.
Steps #12 ist vom Migros-Kulturprozent konzipiert und in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den lokalen Kulturveranstaltern realisiert. Das Festival steht unter dem Patronat von Bundesrat Didier Burkhalter und der Zürcher Stadtpräsidentin Corine Mauch.
