Jerry Mintz has been a leading voice in the alternative school movement for over 30 years. In 1989, he founded the Alternative Education Resource Organization and since then has served as its Director. AERO's mission is to help connect individuals and groups and share ideas related to learner-centered education. Jerry addresses the questions of why a learner-centered approach is crucial for education and how alternative higher education has been evolving over the past decades. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
