A lack of permanent dialysis facilities on remote indigenous lands in South Australia's outback is tearing communities apart and eroding culture, locals and welfare groups say. Many patients are forced to relocate hundreds of kilometres away for ongoing treatment, leaving their families behind. But that could change, with plans to install four dialysis machines at Ernabella.

The petitions protested the Commonwealth's granting of mining rights on land excised from Arnhem Land reserve and sought the recognition by the Australian Parliament of the Yolngu peoples' traditional rights and ownership of their lands.
