The Postmaster-General's Department (PMG) was created at Federation in 1901 to control all postal (and later, telecommunications) services within Australia. Its minister was the Postmaster-General. In mid-1975 it was disaggregated into the Australian Telecommunications Commission (trading as Telecom Australia) and the Australian Postal Commission (trading as Australia Post). It also controlled radio and television broadcast licensing, which is now controlled by the Australian Communications and Media Authority. Telecom Australia changed its name to Telstra in 1995.

The earliest telephone exchanges in Australia date back to 1880 (Melbourne). All phone calls were manually switched by human operators. The Melbourne exchange opened with just 44 customers.

The first automatic exchange opened in 1912, featuring electromechanical switching equipment. Cross-bar systems started appearing in 1960. Electronic switching began in the late 1970s.

Bill Gold (born January 3, 1921) is an American graphic designer best known for thousands of movie poster designs.

His first film poster was for Yankee Doodle Dandy (1941), and his most recent work was for J. Edgar (2011).

During his 70-year career he has worked with some of Hollywood's greatest filmmakers, including Clint Eastwood, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Elia Kazan, Ridley Scott, and many more. Among his most famous film posters are those for Casablanca, A Clockwork Orange, and The Sting.

Bill Gold was born on January 3, 1921, in New York City. He studied illustration and design at Pratt Institute in New York. He began his professional design career in 1941, in the advertising department of Warner Bros. Bill Gold became head of poster design in 1947. In 1959 his brother Charlie joined him in the business and they formed BG Charles to do the film trailers. Charlie operated BG Charles in Los Angeles, while Bill operated in New York City. In 1987 Charlie left the business and retired to Vermont. Charlie Gold died on December 25, 2003 at the age of 75. Bill Gold lives in the New York region.

Jason E. Chaffetz (pronounced /ˈtʃeɪfɨts/; born March 26, 1967) is the U.S. Representative for Utah's 3rd congressional district, serving since 2009. He is a member of the Republican Party. The district is based in Provo and includes large portions of central and west-central Utah.

Chaffetz's father was Jewish and his mother was a Christian Scientist. Chaffetz converted to Mormonism in his college years. He attended Brigham Young University (BYU) on an athletic scholarship. He was the starting placekicker on the BYU football team in 1988 and 1989, and still holds the BYU individual records for most extra points attempted in a game (10), most extra points made in a game (10), and most consecutive extra points made in a game (10).

Chaffetz grew up a Democrat. His father had previously been married to Michael Dukakis' wife, Kitty, and his half-brother is former actor John Dukakis. While a student at BYU, he was a Utah co-chairman for Michael Dukakis's 1988 campaign for U.S. President.

After college, Chaffetz joined the local business community. His work included being a spokesman for Nu Skin International.
