Their grief over Meredith's terrible murder will follow them forever. They deserve respect and support. I am frightened and saddened by this unjust verdict. Rather, nothing has changed. There has always been a marked lack of evidence. My family and I have suffered greatly from this wrongful persecution. This has gotten out of hand. Most troubling is that it was entirely preventable. I beseech those with the knowledge and authority to address and remediate the problems that worked to pervert the course of justice and waste the valuable resources of the system: overzealous and intransigent prosecution, prejudiced and narrow-minded investigation, unwillingness to admit mistake, reliance on unreliable testimony and evidence, character assassination, inconsistent and unfounded accusatory theory, and counterproductive and coercive interrogation techniques that produce false confessions and inaccurate statements. President Barack Obama will nominate Vice-Adm Michael Rogers as the new head of the US electronic spying agency, Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel has said.

He will replace Gen Keith Alexander at the helm of the National Security Agency (NSA), and also as head of the US military cyber-command.

The NSA has been rocked in recent months by revelations about its spying.

Ex-NSA contractor Edward Snowden, now a fugitive in Russia, has shared reams of internal documents with journalists.
Reforms ahead

The documents have shed new light on the NSA\'s electronic spying operations and on its co-operation with its British counterpart, the Government Communications Headquarters.

Among other revelations, the documents showed the NSA collected data on millions of phone calls, collected millions of text messages per day, tapped the mobile phone of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, sought to collect intelligence by spying on users\' mobile apps, and more.

Vice-Adm Rogers will take over in March from Air Force Gen Keith Alexander, who has been in the job nine years.

Gen Alexander has defended the NSA\'s practices against an often sceptical congress and US public, saying they are necessary to keep the US safe.

Part of Vice-Adm Rogers\'s task will be to oversee a series of reforms ordered by Mr Obama in the wake of Mr Snowden\'s leaks and the subsequent outcry.

This month, Mr Obama ordered the agency narrowly to curb the collection of telephone metadata and said the data could only be accessed with a court\'s permission or in a \

Three years ago, an uprising against the Assad regime turned into what looked like a straightforward civil war between Syrian government forces and rebels. However, over time, what had started as a largely secular opposition movement began to take on more of a radical Islamist tone, with two al Qaeda offshoots -- the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra -- becoming the dominant forces on the ground across the rebel-held North.

One VICE filmmaker managed to secure unprecedented access to both al-Qaeda factions battling Syria\'s government forces, despite the risk of journalists being kidnapped. This is a remarkable portrait of the foreign volunteers and local Syrians willing to fight and die to establish a new caliphate on Europe\'s doorstep.

The city of Yakutsk. Located six time zones from the Russian capital, 280 miles south of the of the Arctic Circle, and with an average winter temperature of just below -40C, it can (un)comfortably claim the title Coldest City on Earth.
The swing in temperature between seasons is extreme, as it is not unusual for summer days to bask in 25C of glorious sunshine, only for the winter months to plunge 60 degrees - or more.
The record low for Yakutsk was an unbearable February day when the mercury hit -64.4C, however today, the city experienced a \'mere\' -49C.
The ground underneath it is permanently frozen, making tall buildings difficult, and any major building project risky, as nearly everything has to be built on concrete piles above ground.
Despite the deterring conditions - forget snow days, schools only close if the temperature drops below -52C - it is home to 270,000 people, a quarter of the entire population of Siberia.

Amanda Knox guilty RETRIAL FINDS HER GUILTY
Amanda Knox guilty RETRIAL FINDS HER GUILTY
  • Order:
  • Duration: 1:01
  • Updated: 30 Jan 2014
Amanda Knox Raffaele Sollecito. guilty RETRIAL FINDS HER GUILTY of Meredith Kercher an sentenced to 28 years 6months inprisonment. Raffaele Sollecito. Court has upheld original verdict. A court in Italy has reinstated the guilty verdicts against Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito for mu rderf UK student Meredith Kercher in 2007. American Knox and her Italian ex-boyfriend Sollecito - who had pleaded not guilty - now face long jail sentences. The latest verdict overturns the pair's successful 2011 appeal, which freed them after four years in jail. Amanda Knox's Full Statement on Guilty Verdict Jan. 30, 2014 ABC News January 30, 2014 First and foremost it must be recognized that there is no consolation for the Kercher family. Their grief over Meredith's terrible murder will follow them forever. They deserve respect and support. I am frightened and saddened by this unjust verdict. Having been found innocent before, I expected better from the Italian justice system. The evidence and accusatory theory do not justify a verdict of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Clearly a wrongful conviction is horrific for the wrongfully accused, but it is also terribly bad for the victim, their surviving family, and society. Ms Kercher was sta bbed to de ath in the flat she shared in Perugia with Knox. Thursday's fresh appeal hearing in Florence was ordered by Italy's highest court, the supreme court in Rome. It had found that the 2011 appeal - which acquitted the pair - was flawed. Ms Knox, who along with Mr Sollecito had denied all the charges, did not return to Italy for the case. Ms Kercher's brother Lyle and sister Stephanie were present when the verdict was read out. The court in Florence heard from Ms Knox's defence team in the morning before the two judges and eight jurors retired to deliberate on a verdict. Summing up, Ms Knox's lawyer, Carlo Dalla Vedova, told the court her innocence was "rock-solid and it allows us to await the verdict with serenity". The supreme court overturned their acquittals last March after an appeal by prosecutors, who argued that important DNA evidence had been disregarded. Prosecutors had asked for 26-year prison terms for the pair on the charge. 'DNA doubts' Ms Kercher, from Coulsdon in south London and 21 at the time, was found with her throat cut in a flat she shared with Ms Knox in the college city of Perugia, in the central region of Umbria. Amanda Knox retrial verdict: Amanda Marie Knox is an American woman who, in 2009, was convicted of the mu rder of Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Umbria, Italy. President Obama Names Michael Rogers As New Head Of The NSA
President Obama Names Michael Rogers As New Head Of The NSA
  • Order:
  • Duration: 2:55
  • Updated: 30 Jan 2014
President Barack Obama will nominate Vice-Adm Michael Rogers as the new head of the US electronic spying agency, Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel has said. He will replace Gen Keith Alexander at the helm of the National Security Agency (NSA), and also as head of the US military cyber-command. The NSA has been rocked in recent months by revelations about its spying. Ex-NSA contractor Edward Snowden, now a fugitive in Russia, has shared reams of internal documents with journalists. Reforms ahead The documents have shed new light on the NSA's electronic spying operations and on its co-operation with its British counterpart, the Government Communications Headquarters. Among other revelations, the documents showed the NSA collected data on millions of phone calls, collected millions of text messages per day, tapped the mobile phone of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, sought to collect intelligence by spying on users' mobile apps, and more. Vice-Adm Rogers will take over in March from Air Force Gen Keith Alexander, who has been in the job nine years. Gen Alexander has defended the NSA's practices against an often sceptical congress and US public, saying they are necessary to keep the US safe. Part of Vice-Adm Rogers's task will be to oversee a series of reforms ordered by Mr Obama in the wake of Mr Snowden's leaks and the subsequent outcry. This month, Mr Obama ordered the agency narrowly to curb the collection of telephone metadata and said the data could only be accessed with a court's permission or in a "true emergency". He asked the attorney general and the intelligence community to draw up plans for metadata to be held by a third party. He also ordered the agency to cease monitoring the communications of friendly heads of state. 'Leadership and expertise' In nominating Vice-Adm Rogers both to lead the NSA and the military cyber command, Mr Obama has rejected the recommendations of an expert panel he convened, which said the two roles should be split. That five-person panel also said in December that Mr Obama should consider naming a civilian to lead the NSA. Vice-Admiral Rogers, a trained cryptologist and 30-year veteran of the Navy, currently commands its 10th Fleet and the Navy's cyber command. "He has already demonstrated his leadership and deep expertise in this critical domain," Mr Hagel said. In a nod to an ongoing debate over the NSA's authority, Mr Hagel said he was "confident that Admiral Rogers has the wisdom to help balance the demands of security, privacy, and liberty in our digital age". While the president can unilaterally appoint an NSA director, Vice-Adm Rogers would need confirmation by the Senate in order to be promoted to full admiral and take over the military cyber command.

Russia bus Bomb explosion - Second bomb blast hits Volgograd Russia 12/30/2013 Suicide Bomber, Attacks Russia Bus Explosion explode Russia Terror Attack Volgograd Train Station Explosion At least 10 people have been killed in an explosion on an electric bus in the Russian city of Volgograd, according to reports. Investigators have described the blast as "an act of terror". It comes just a day after a female suicide bomber was blamed for killing 17 people and leaving dozens more injured at the city's main railway station. Investigators and Emergency Ministry members work at the site of an explosion at the entrance to a train station in Volgograd Security has been stepped up after the station blast Police identified the bomber as a Dagestan national called Oksana Aslanova - who had been married to two Islamists killed by Russian forces. Map of Volgograd, Russia She apparently detonated a bomb in front of a metal detector inside the main entrance of the station. Russian television is suggesting there may have been two attackers. MOSCOW — A deadly suicide bombing at a crowded railroad station in southern Russia on Sunday, followed by a blast in a trolley bus on Monday in the same city, raised the specter of a new wave of terrorism just six weeks before the Winter Olympics in Sochi. President Vladimir V. Putin's government has worked to protect the Olympics with some of the most extensive security measures ever imposed for the Games. But the bombings, in Volgograd, underscored the threat the country faces from a radical Islamic insurgency in the North Caucasus that has periodically spilled into the Russian heartland, with deadly results, including several recent attacks. Security has become a paramount concern at all major international sporting events, especially in the wake of the bombing at the Boston Marathon in April, but never before has an Olympic host country experienced terrorist violence on this scale soon before the Games. And would-be attackers may have more targets in mind than the Russian state. Current and former American law enforcement and intelligence officials said Sunday that they were more concerned about security in Russia during the Sochi Games than they have been about any other Olympics since Athens in 2004. #Волгоград взорван троллейбус 30 декабря Жертвы и пострадавшие Second Blast Hits Russia, Raising Olympic Fears Second Deadly Explosion Rocks Russian City Reports: At Least 10 Dead In Russia Bus Blast Second Blast Hits Russia,Second Deadly Explosion Rocks Russian City,Russia Bus Blast,Russia Bus Blast today,Russia Bus Blast video,Russia Bus Blast 30 december 2013,Russia Bus Blast Olympic,Olympic Russia Bus Blast,MOSCOW bus blast, suicide bombing Russia,Vladimir, explosion on an electric bus russia, russia electic bus bombing, blast, live, breaking news, video,Russia Suicide Bombing, Russian Bus Bomber, Russian Bus Suicide Bomber Russia Bus Suicide Bombing, Russia Suicide Bombing, Russian Bus Bomber, Russian Bus Suicide Bomber, Suicide Bombing, Volgograd Suicide Bomber, Volgograd Suicide Bombing [30-12-2013] 2nd Deadly Bomb Strikes Russian City -russia blast in bus kills several New Deadly Bomb Strikes Russian City - Breaking News 30 Dec New Deadly Bomb Strikes Russian City - Breaking News 30 Dec Volgograd '... One VICE filmmaker managed to secure unprecedented access to both al-Qaeda factions battling Syria's government forces, despite the risk of journalists being kidnapped. This is a remarkable portrait of the foreign volunteers and local Syrians willing to fight and die to establish a new caliphate on Europe's doorstep. https://www.facebook.com/Anzarillustration https://www.facebook.com/GazaNow.Ps.En The shocking pictures make the heart bleed. Ahmed is a Palestinian child, who is on 15 years old. He was a victim who was jailed in middle of the night. His crime was nothing more than "throwing stones at the Israeli army." "You are a hero," said the Israeli soldier said to Ahmed. Ahmed was promised that he would be permitted to go to school tomorrow. Um Ahmed, his mother, has no power in this situation. She kisses her son and gives him to the soldier. She asks Allah for him to be released soon. Acts of terrorism committed by the Israeli army against this Palestinian family is not a sign of power. "We can prison whoever we want, men women or children," said an Israeli general. According to the general, the only stipulation is that those jailed be those involved in the riots. For him and the Israeli Army, there is no problem with this procedure, "even if it's a child."

The record low for Yakutsk was an unbearable February day when the mercury hit -64.4C, however today, the city experienced a 'mere' -49C. The US and Britain have expressed concern over the Syrian government's delay in removing chemical weapons materials due to be destroyed under an international disarmament deal.
