26th Milestone^[1] is a corner on the primary A18 Mountain Road in the parish of Lezayre in the Isle of Man between the 25th and 27th Milestone the road-side milestone markers used for the Isle of Man TT Races. The right-hand corner was renamed 'Joey's' in honour of Joey Dunlop, a 26 time winner of the Isle of Man TT motorcycle races.

This corner and the steep up-hill section of the primary A18 Mountain Road was part of the Highland Course and Four Inch Course used for the Gordon Bennett Trial and Tourist Trophy automobile car races held in the Isle of Man between 1904 and 1911. Also, the 26th Milestone is part of the Snaefell Mountain Course used since 1911 for the Isle of Man TT and Manx Grand Prix Races.

The Mountain Road was developed in the mid-19th century from a number of pre-existing roads and bridle paths.^[2] This included the building of a number of sheep-gates including the East Mountain Gate, the Beinn-y-Phott sheep-gate and Keppel Gate. The primary A18 Mountain Road section road from Keppel Gate to Park Lewellyn is a product of the Disaforesting Commission of 1860^[3] which includes the distinctive road embankments and road grading. A small-size metal milestone^[4] from the period of James Garrow as Isle of Man Surveyor-General^[5] was situated at the 26th Milestone^[6] as the 13th milestone road marker on the primary A18 Mountain Road.

A serious incident occurred at the 26th Milestone during the 2007 Isle of Man TT Races. An accident on lap 5 of the Senior TT race resulted in the death of competitor Marc Ramsbotham riding a Suzuki. Two spectators, Dean Jackob and Gregory Kenzig were also killed and TT Race marshals, Hilary Musson and Janice Phillips were injured.^[7]

The Isle of Man Constabulary investigation into the deaths led to the arrest of marshall on the suspicion of manslaughter, although the individual was later released without charge.^[1] Further safety work was carried-out at the 26th Milestone for the 2007 Manx Grand Prix with the removal of part of a grass bank and a new race marshals shelter created by the Isle of Man Department of Transport. During the winter of 2007, the 26th Milestone road-side marker, the A18 Mountain Road metal 13th milestone and Mountain Course marker board were also removed from the site.

Joey Jordison (born Nathan Jonas Jordison April 26, 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa), is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his work as the drummer for the nu metal band Slipknot. He grew up in Waukee, Iowa with his parents and two sisters, and was given his first drum kit at the age of 8. He performed in several bands until joining in the summer of 1995 the group The Pale Ones, which would later change their name to Slipknot. Of Slipknot's nine members, Joey was the third to join the band.

With Slipknot, Jordison has performed on four studio albums, and produced the live album 9.0: Live. He is also the lead guitarist for the horror punk band Murderdolls. Outside the majority of his projects, Jordison has performed with other heavy metal groups such as Rob Zombie, Metallica, Korn, Ministry Otep and Satyricon. Jordison is also known for his session work which includes performances on many albums for many different artists. Jordison uses several drum brands including Pearl and ddrum.

Early life[link]

Jordison was born at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on April 26, 1975.^[1] He grew up in a rural area outside of Waukee where he used to play basketball on the street in front of his house. He embraced music at an early age, which he attributes to the influence of his parents: "they always sat me down in front of the radio, rather than the TV."^[1] He played guitar until receiving his first drum kit as a gift from his parents at age eight, and started his first band while in elementary school.^[2] At a young age, Jordison's parents divorced; he and his two younger sisters stayed with their mother.^[3] His mother remarried and set up a funeral parlor where Jordison would occasionally help. Jordison has stated that he felt a sudden responsibility to be the man of the house, and this responsibility turned him odious in which he played drums. He later described them as "total speed-metal thrash".^[4] The band helped Jordison break new ground, playing for live crowds in support of local bands including Atomic Opera, which featured Jim Root, and Heads On The Wall, which featured Shawn Crahan.^[5] After a multitude of line-up changes including the presence of Craig Jones and Josh Brainard - who would later appear in Slipknot — The band released two demos in 1993: Visceral and Mud Fuchia.^[5][6]

After leaving school, Jordison was hired by a local music store called Musicland. In March 1994, after a recommendation from his new friend, he got a job at a Sinclair garage in Urbandale. Jordison worked the night shift, which he preferred, as it left his weekends free and allowed him to spend time with his friends and listen to music while working.^[7] In early 1995, Modifidious disbanded because of a shift in interest from thrash metal to death metal in America. Following this Jordison joined a local band called The Rejects as a guitarist, with whom he only played a couple of shows. Jordison was also involved in a band with Paul Gray, formed mostly as a joke called Anal Blast.^[8] Gray also attempted to recruit him for another band, Body Pit, but he declined the invitation to remain in The Rejects. During the forming period of Slipknot, Paul recruited Joey to join a Punk band called the Have Nots in the Spring of 1996. Joey would leave the Have Nots in February of 1997 to "focus on Slipknot" but instead reformed the Rejects which would play Des Moines up until Slipknot left to record Slipknot's Self Titled album which Paul played in after the Have Nots broke up.^[9]

On November 28, 1995, Mark Anthony Cadavos approached Jordison while he was working, offering him a position in a new project called The Pale Ones.^[8] Intrigued and at a point where he was "lost",^[10] Jordison attended rehearsals at Anders Colsefni's basement and immediately wanted to be part of this new band. Speaking of this moment he said, "I remember trying so hard not to smile, so I didn't look like I wanted to join, I remained poker-faced, but I thought they ruled."^[11] A lot of Slipknot's early development was discussed by band members while Jordison worked night shifts at Sinclair's garage.^[12] Slipknot would become pioneers to the New Wave of American Heavy Metal.^[13][14] Jordison is accompanied by two custom percussionists,^[15] giving their music a feel that Rolling Stone touted as "suffocating".^[16]

Each member of Slipknot is assigned a number; Joey was assigned "#1".^[17] Joey has produced one album with Slipknot: 2005 live album 9.0: Live.^[18] In August, 2008, Jordison broke his ankle and Slipknot had to cancel some of its England tour dates.^[19] On August 22, 2009, Jordison was taken to the emergency room for a burst appendix,less than an hour before he was to take the stage for Auburn, Washington's KISW Pain in the Grass concert.^[20][21] As a result, Slipknot canceled following shows in August and September, to give Jordison time to recover.^[22]

In August 2010 Jordison was voted the best drummer of the past 25 years by readers of Rhythm magazine. Competitors included Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart, Phil Collins, Dave Grohl etc. When asked to comment he stated "I'm at a loss for words. This is beyond unbelievable. Something like this reminds me every day why I continue to do this."^[23][24]

Murderdolls[link]

While touring Ozzfest in 2001 to support Slipknot's studio album Iowa, Jordison met Tripp Eisen, then of Static-X; the two discussed forming a side project.^[25] In 2002, Jordison revived his band The Rejects, renaming them the Murderdolls.^[26] Jordison became the Murderdoll's guitarist, and he recruited Wednesday 13 of Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13 to play bass. Wednesday eventually became a vocalist, while drummer Ben Graves and bassist Eric Griffin completed the band's lineup.^[27] Murderdolls signed with Roadrunner Records and released an EP entitled Right to Remain Violent in 2002. The band returned in August 2002 with their debut album Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls.^[28] The band uses horror films, including Friday the 13th and Night of the Living Dead, as an inspiration for their lyrics.^[29] On October 30, 2002, the Murderdolls made an appearance on an episode of Dawson's Creek entitled "Living Dead Girl".^[30] The band reunited in 2010 with only Jordison and Wednesday 13 remaining from the original line-up.^[31] The band release their second studio album Women & Children Last on August 31, 2010.^[32] The band embarked on the extensive Women & Children Last World Tour performing shows alongside many notable acts such as Guns N' Roses and performing around the world. The tour was sparked with many problems including the cancellation of many shows and repeated incidents of Jordison storming off stage, most notably in Bordeaux, France and Perth, Western Australia. The tour finished on April 24, 2011.

Remixing and performances[link]

In 2001, Jordison worked on a remix of "The Fight Song" by Marilyn Manson.^[33] Jordison also appeared in the music video for Manson's cover of "Tainted Love."^[34] Later in the year, Manson revealed that Jordison had been working with him on his new album The Golden Age of Grotesque. Jordison had in fact worked on guitars but the track did not appear on the album.^[34] In 2004, Jordison appeared on OTEP's album House of Secrets, drumming on six tracks for the album.^[35] In 2008, Jordison appeared on Puscifer's album "V" is for Viagra. The Remixes, with a remix of the track "Drunk With Power."^[36] In 2010, Jordison recorded four additional songs with Rob Zombie for the re-release of his latest album Hellbilly Deluxe 2.^[37]

On tour[link]

Jordison has performed with other bands, solely as a touring member. While preparing for the Download Festival in 2004, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was hospitalized for an unknown illness.^[38] Metallica's vocalist James Hetfield searched amongst other bands performing at the festival to find a replacement for Ulrich; Jordison and Dave Lombardo of Slayer volunteered. Jordison performed on 9 of the 12 songs that made up the set and was called the band's "hero of the day".^[39] In late 2004, Jordison performed with Satyricon on their tour of the United States when drummer Frost was refused entry into the country.^[40] The tour was cut short after guitarists Steinar Gundersen and Arnt Gronbech—who were also only touring members—were charged with sexually assaulting a fan in Toronto.^[41] In 2006, Jordison joined Ministry for their "MasterBaTour 2006" which consisted of sixty dates across the United States and Canada.^[42] He also appeared in the music video for their single "Lies Lies Lies".^[43] Korn recruited Jordison in 2007 to join them on tour when drummer David Silveria went on hiatus from the band.^[44] He also appeared in the music video for their single "Evolution". While touring with Korn, Jordison set a record by becoming the first musician ever to perform on five different occasions at the Download Festival in England.^[45] Jordison also began touring with Rob Zombie after Tommy Clufetos withdrew from the band. Although the position was initially only meant for a couple of months, Jordison stayed with the band for almost a year until the culmination of Zombie's Australian tour when he announced that he would be leaving to focus his time on the Murderdolls and Slipknot.

In August 2004, Jordison became involved in Roadrunner United, a celebration of Roadrunner Records' 25th anniversary. As one of four "team captains" who wrote and produced material for the album,^[46] Jordison said of the experience, "I thought it was a great idea and was really excited about it, because it was a chance to work with a lot of artists that I really respected while I was growing up."^[47] In 2007, 3 Inches of Blood recruited Jordison to produce their album Fire Up the Blades. Jordison is a fan of the band and when he heard that Roadrunner wanted to have some demos produced he said; "I was the first one to jump at it, I'm like; 'I want this fucking band'."^[48] From these demos the label commissioned a record. Vocalist Jamie Hopper said of Jordison, "he's an amazing producer".^[49]

Lawrence was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Donna Mignogna, a personnel manager and former elementary school teacher,^[1] and Joseph Lawrence Mignogna, Sr., an insurance broker.^[2][3] He is of Italian descent.^[4] His family's surname was changed to "Lawrence" during his childhood. He has two younger brothers, Matthew and Andrew, who are also actors.^[5]

He graduated from Abington Friends School in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, in 1994, and later attended the University of Southern California.^[6]

Lawrence's first acting role was in a Cracker Jack commercial. At the age of five, he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where he performed the song "Give My Regards to Broadway".^[7] After appearing in guest spots on Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons, Lawrence won the role of Joey Donovan on the hit NBC sitcom Gimme a Break! in 1983. He continued in that role until the series ended in 1987. Lawrence provided the voice of Oliver, the protagonist in the 1988 Disney film Oliver & Company.

From 1991 to 1995, Lawrence co-starred in the hit TV series Blossom, in which he played Joey Russo, a teenager who frequently said "Whoa!", which due to the success of the show became a catchphrase in the United States.^{[citation needed]}

Lawrence has also starred in the series Brotherly Love and Run of the House, and has guest starred on shows such as American Dreams and CSI: NY.^[8] One of Lawrence's movie credits is Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000) in which he costarred with Jennifer Morrison, Matthew Davis, and Hart Bochner.

In 2006, Lawrence appeared on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Paired with professional dancer Edyta Śliwińska, he placed third in the competition. In May 2007, he starred in the Broadway hit Chicago as Billy Flynn.^[9] He next hosted a dance competition show on The Learning Channel, Master of Dance, which premiered June 9, 2008.^[10]

In 2009, Lawrence starred in the television movie My Fake Fiancé, with Melissa Joan Hart which premiered on ABC Family to 3.6 million viewers becoming the most watched television movie of the ratings season, sweeping top rank in its time-period in key demos. In August 2010, Lawrence returned to television in the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey, opposite Melissa Joan Hart.^[11] Hart plays a woman who hires Lawrence as a nanny to help care for her incarcerated sister's kids. Lawrence's character is a former member of the financial industry whose company came under investigation for wrongdoing and caused his professional life to be put on hold and in limbo.^[12]

In 2012, he was contracted to be a Chippendales dancer for special engagement in June at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.^[13]

Lawrence has said that music was always his passion and in the wake of his success began a recording career. Lawrence was 16 when his debut album, Joey Lawrence, was released in February 1993. The album was produced by Terry Lupton, Ian Prince and Teddy Riley. Lawrence also co-wrote songs on the album, including the international hit single "Nothin' My Love Can't Fix" (#6 Billboard Hot 100 Airplay, #10 Billboard Top 40 Mainstream, #19 Billboard Hot 100, #13 United Kingdom, #68 Australia).^[14] Said song was used as the end title theme from the movie Cop and a Half; its music video received heavy airplay on MTV and MuchMusic, and Lawrence was invited to perform live on MTV's Spring Break, The Arsenio Hall Show, and the UK's Top of the Pops in 1993.

In July 2008, Lawrence told TV Guide that he is working on a new album composed mostly of ballads.^[15] In June 2011 he released his new single entitled Rolled, which was available as a free download for one week on ABCFamily's website.^[16] In July, Joey released a second single, "Give It To Ya (Acoustic)" via Pledge Music.^[17]

Lawrence married Michelle Vella in 2002; the couple divorced in 2005. He met his second wife, Chandie Yawn-Nelson, while on vacation in Disney World when the two were teenagers; they married there 13 years later, in July 2005.^[18] The couple have two daughters, Charleston (born 2006) and Liberty Grace (born March 2010).^[19][20]

Joey "CoCo" Diaz is a Cuban-American stand-up comedian and actor known for his recurring role as Joey on the TV series My Name is Earl, as well as in movies such as The Longest Yard and Taxi.

Early life[link]

Joey "Coco" Diaz was born in Cuba, and raised in North Bergen, New Jersey. He lost his parents at age 15, and was taken in by a series of North Bergen families, including two police officers named Robert Bender and Carmine Balzano, but frequent run-ins with the law, including his involvement in fights, kept him moving among a total of four families. Diaz says a total of 20 Italian and Irish families attempted to assist him, such as local funeral home owner Anthony Vanieri. Diaz explains that their sense of humor greatly influenced his own career,^[1] which had its earliest beginnings as a student in North Bergen High School.^[2]

Career[link]

Diaz left North Bergen for the University of Colorado at Boulder on June 1, 1985, but his academic life was interrupted when he was arrested for kidnapping and aggravated robbery, for which he served time in prison. His standup comedy career began in prison, where he gained popularity by improvising material in front of Thursday night Movie Night audiences after the projector malfunctioned.^[1]

After he was released from prison, Diaz moved to Los Angeles, where he began performing in front of open mike audiences. After his career spread to other venues, he accepted an offer from a CBS talent scout to work on a television pilot. Although the series was not purchased, the visibility it gave him helped his career, garnering him appearances in Law & Order and in films like Spider-Man 2.^[1] and the 2004 film Taxi.^[2] His most visible role was in the 2005 film The Longest Yard^[1][2] and as a prison convict named Joey the Candy Bar Criminal, a part he played in four 2007 episodes of My Name is Earl, and which he obtained on the basis of his own past in prison. That same year he also appeared as "Joey Karate", doing humorous promotions for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in California, clips of which can be found on YouTube.^[2]

His subsequent roles include the 2009 TV movie The Dog Who Saved Christmas, and 2011 appearances in "Scarlet Ribbons", an episode of The Mentalist and the film Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.^[1]

Diaz has performed his standup in his hometown of North Bergen for charity. On November 4, 2007, he made an appearance to help raise money for North Bergen High School basketball team uniforms.^[2]

Joseph James "Joe" Rogan (born August 11, 1967) is an American martial artist, stand-up comedian, actor, writer and color commentator. He is best known for playing Joe Garrelli on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio, commentating for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, hosting the NBC reality show Fear Factor and The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Early life[link]

Rogan was born in Newark, New Jersey.^[2] His paternal grandfather was Irish and the remainder of his ancestry is Italian.^[3]

Martial arts[link]

In 1981, at age fourteen, he became a practitioner of Kenpo Karate before transitioning to Taekwondo.^[4] He eventually gained a 2nd dan black belt.^[5] A four-time state champion in Massachusetts, in 1987 he was the USA Taekwondo U.S. Open Champion.^[6] In 1996, he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado, eventually earning his brown belt.^[7] In addition, he holds a brown belt in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu under Eddie Bravo.^[8][9]

He also practiced and competed in kickboxing.^[10]

Acting[link]

In 1994, he co-starred on the Fox comedy Hardball as Frank Valente, the young, ego-centric star player on a fictional professional baseball team.^[11] From 1995 to 1999, he co-starred on the comedy NewsRadio. He portrayed Joe Garrelli, the electrician at WNYX, a news radio station in New York City.^[12] In 2002, he appeared on the episode "A Beautiful Mind" of Just Shoot Me as Chris, Maya Gallo's boyfriend.^[13] In 2011, Rogan played his first major character in a movie in the Kevin James movie Zookeeper.^[14] He is slated to play himself in an upcoming action-comedy starring Kevin James called Here Comes the Boom, set to be released in the summer of 2012.^[15]

Color commentary[link]

Rogan began working for the UFC in 1997, making his debut interviewing fighters at UFC 12: Judgement Day in Dothan, Alabama, before eventually becoming a color commentator for the promotion.^[16] He won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards in two occasions as Best Television Announcer. He was also named "MMA Personality of the Year" in the 2011 World MMA Awards.^[17]

Stand-up comedy[link]

Rogan has toured as a stand-up comedian and recorded several albums and specials, including Shiny Happy Jihad and Joe Rogan: Talking Monkeys in Space.

In 2007 Rogan confronted comedian Carlos Mencia on stage, accusing him of joke thievery.^[18] A video of the incident, created with Brian Redban, included evidence and supporting comments from other comedians, including George Lopez, Reverend Bob Levy, Bobby Lee and Ari Shaffir.^[19]

Hosting[link]

Rogan worked on the TV series Fear Factor, as a host of the United States version of the show. He hosted from June 11, 2001 through September 12, 2006. Rogan returned as the host of Fear Factor in the rebooted edition of the show, which aired December 12, 2011 on NBC.

In 2003, Rogan and Doug Stanhope replaced Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla as co-hosts of The Man Show.^[20] They continued through the end of the show's run in 2004.

In December 2009, Rogan began hosting a regular podcast with concurrent live Ustream availability.^[21] Co-hosted by his friend and the show's producer Brian Redban, the podcast features an array of guests from the pursuits of comedy, acting and Mixed Martial Arts.^{[citation needed]} Now known as The Joe Rogan Experience, the show is regularly found in the Apple iTunes top 10 most downloaded comedy, and was named one of iTunes "Best of 2010" audio podcasts in its first year.

Personal life[link]

In 2008, Rogan and his wife to be, Jessica, had a baby girl.^[22] The couple married in 2009. In 2010, Rogan announced the birth of a second baby. Rogan also has a step daughter with his wife Jessica.^[23][24]

Although raised Roman Catholic,^[25] Rogan stated in September 2010, during a guest appearance on the Alex Jones radio show, that he does not follow any organized religions because he feels it is all the work of man. Rogan also said that he is not completely opposed to the concept of a "higher power" such as a God; however, he views the concept of God as part of nature that exists in everything.

Rogan has argued for the possibility of the moon landings being a hoax.^[26][27]

One of the recurring themes in his stand-up comedy and life is the use and support of cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms, and DMT. Rogan supports the medical and recreational use of cannabis.^[28] He has also starred in the marijuana documentary The Union: The Business Behind Getting High.^[29] Rogan was featured in the 2010 History Channel documentary, Marijuana: A Chronic History, as an advocate of legalized medical use of marijuana. He is also the presenter of the 2010 documentary, DMT: The Spirit Molecule, released in October 2010.
