Robert

The name Robert is a Germanic given name, from Proto-Germanic *χrōþi- "fame" and *berχta- "bright". Compare Old Dutch Robrecht and Old High German Hrodebert (a compound of hruod "fame, glory" and berht "bright"). It is also in use as a surname.

After becoming widely used in Continental Europe it entered England in its Old French form Robert, where an Old English cognate form (Hrēodbēorht, Hrodberht, Hrēodbēorð, Hrœdbœrð, Hrœdberð) had existed before the Norman Conquest. The feminine version is Roberta. The Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish form is Roberto.

Similar to the name, Richard, "Robert" is also a common name in many Germanic languages, including English, German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Icelandic. It can be used as a French, Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian name as well.

In Italy during the Second World War, the form of the name, Roberto, briefly acquired a new meaning derived from, and referring to the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis.

Robert Awards

The Robert Award (Danish: Robert prisen) is a Danish film prize awarded each year by the Danish Film Academy. It is the Danish equivalent of the American Oscars. The award, voted only by academy members, is acknowledgement by Danish industry colleagues of a person's or film's outstanding contributions during the previous year. The Robert was awarded for the first time in 1984 and is named after the statuette's creator, the Danish sculptor Robert Jacobsen.

Robert (1793 ship)

Robert was the 16-gun French privateer sloop launched in 1793 at Nantes. The British captured her in 1793 and named her HMS Espion. The French recaptured her in 1794 and took her into service as Espion. The British recaptured her in 1795. but there being another Espion in service by then, the British renamed their capture HMS Spy. She she served under that name until the Navy sold her in 1801. She then became a slave ship, whaling ship, privateer, and again a whaler, serving in the South Seas whale fisheries until at least 1813.

Robert

The frigate HMS Syren , Captain John Manley, captured the French privateer Robert on 13 June 1793 in the Bay of Biscay after a chase of 28 hours. One report gave Robert 22 guns and a complement of 200 men, but all other reports trimmed this to 16 carriage and eight swivel guns, and 170 men.Robert had been out three days from Bordeaux, but on this voyage had captured nothing. On an earlier cruise, Robert had recaptured a French East Indiaman that HMS Thetis had captured.

Fallen (Toyah song)

"Fallen" is the 24th single by the British rock singer Toyah Willcox, released on 18 September 2011. The song is a collaboration with British dance music producer Paul Masterson, also known as Yomanda, and features lyrics written by Toyah.

Recording

The track started life as an instrumental piece by Masterson, who sent the track to Toyah and asked if she would record a vocal for it. In an interview on Gaydar Radio, he said "...we hadn't actually met until the day of recording the vocals. We spoke on email and we recorded the vocals down at Dave Pemberton's studio in Essex. It was a great day. Very, very relaxed. It was a bit nervous at first, obviously meeting Toyah but it was a very good day. It took about three hours and all done, pretty much, in one take. Great day all round really."

Fallen (Fields of the Nephilim album)

Fallen is the fourth studio album by Fields of the Nephilim, released after an eleven-year hiatus. None of the original band-members aside from vocalist Carl McCoy appear on the album, and upon release, the band's website described the disc as an unauthorized cash-in of unreleased demos, "pilfered" by the label.

"Fallen" is a song by American recording artist Mýa, released as the second and final single from her third studio album, Moodring (2003). The song was written by Rich Shelton, Kevin Veney, Loren Hill, and Leonard Huggins. It contained excerpts from Luiz Bonfá's 1963 song "Saudade Vem Correndo", written by Bonfá and Maria Toledo. The lyrics of the mid-tempo track speak of a woman falling head over heels in love with someone.

The song received generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics, complimenting Mýa's voice and its arrangements. "Fallen" underperformed on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number fifty-one and spent two non-consecutive weeks. It fared better on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, reaching number thirty-five. Due to its lackluster chart performance stateside, the single was not released internationally. "Fallen" remains Mýa's last single to chart on the Hot 100, as well as her final single released under Interscope Records.
