Statewide Sing-a-Long to "Feels Like Home"
Statewide Sing-a-Long to "Feels Like Home"
The lyrics talk of the beauty all around New Mexico, so it is only logical that this time around singers from all around the state take turns belting out "Feels Like Home." With the help of the New Mexico Tourism Department, a total of 43 communities and organizations have combined for a unique, humorous, and occasionally-in-tune version of the catchy melody. The original version of "Feels Like Home" is already a music video hit. It drew more than 25,000 views in the first ten days following its official release in November. (you can see the original here: http://youtu.be/JUhXostcdC4 ) This unusual version is not a lip-sync video. These are the actual voices of several hundred New Mexicans singing about the all the things that make the state "feel like home" to them. Tourism Department representatives traveled all around New Mexico throughout a summer capturing each community's designated brief segment of the song. The song "Feels Like Home" has served as the catchy background tune for numerous TV and radio ads all across the state. The New Mexico Tourism Department first used the song in its own ads, and several communities have since followed suit. It is the creation of the band Richmond, the musical partnership of Albuquerque natives Nate Boitano and Heath Warren. Nate and Heath first gained a measure of fame as members of the popular Albuquerque band Asper Kourt. They have been friends and musical collaborators since growing up next to each other.- published: 14 Jan 2014

New Mexico police stop mother Oriana Ferrell; shoot minivan full of kids
New Mexico police fired into a minivan carrying five children and their mother after the woman fled a routine traffic stop. Oriana Ferrell was driving 71 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on a state highway south of Taos. In a police dash cam video taken of the incident, she is heard saying she was on her way to the Rio Grande with her children, who, according to other reports, range from age 6 to 18. A police officer stopped her and they argued about the ticket. Ferrell drove off when the officer left to write the ticket, but pulled over again later down the road. The officer approached Ferrell aggressively and attempted to pull her out of the car. Ferrell's 14-year-old son got out of the car to defend his mother, but the officer pulled out his taser gun, and the boy got backed off. Ferrell eventually got out of the driver's seat, but when the policeman asked her to stand against the back of the vehicle, she ran back. Other children got out to help their mother and the boy, out of the car for a second time, fought with the policeman. The family jumped back into their minivan and locked the doors. Back up police officers arrived on the scene, and the first officer smashed a window on the passenger side of the vehicle with a police baton. Ferrell drove off, then another police officer unloaded three shots into the back of the car. Ferrell gave chase, but gave up after four minutes and pulled into a hotel's driveway. She has been charged with five counts of abuse of a child, aggravated fleeing an officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to The Taos News. Her teenage son was charged with battery of an officer. -------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
