A monsoon trough and a series of tropical lows are generating heavy rain and squally storms across the tropics. A trough and front in the southeast is bringing a gusty change into NSW, producing showers and storms in the NT and NSW. A high is directing heat into the west.

A monsoon trough and a series of tropical lows are generating heavy rain and squally storms across the tropics. A trough and front in the southeast is bringing a gusty change into NSW, producing showers and storms in the NT and NSW. A high is directing heat into the west.


Wednesday 22:00 EDT

A monsoon trough and low will cause heavy showers and squally storms in the tropics, heaviest in the Gulf. A trough will cause a few showers and storms over the eastern inland, whilst allowing heat to rebuild in SA. Moist onshore winds will provide a few showers to the NSW coast.


Thursday 22:00 EDT

A monsoon trough and associated tropical lows will generate showers and squally storms. Showers will mostly clear along the eastern seaboard as the ridge weakens. A trough over WA will cause showers and storms. A broad trough will filter a hot airmass over SA and northern VIC.


Friday 22:00 EDT

The monsoon trough will cause heavy showers and squally storms over the tropics. Troughs will filter hot air masses over the south of the nation. The trough in the west will trigger showers and the odd storm. A Tasman high will keep much of VIC, NSW and southern QLD dry.


Saturday 22:00 EDT

A trough will cross from WA into SA bringing a cool change and showers, while directing hot winds into SA, VIC and western NSW ahead of it. A monsoon trough will trigger heavy showers and storms over the tropics. Hot and dry easterlies will continue in northern and central WA.


Sunday 22:00 EDT

A trough will move through the southeast, bringing hot northerlies ahead and a cool change behind. The monsoon trough should continue to affect the tropics with thundery rain and showers stretching to inland NT and QLD. A high will keep the west mostly hot and dry.


Monday 22:00 EDT

The monsoon trough will linger across the tropics, producing rain and squally storms. A trough will move through the east, producing a few showers and storms and bringing a cool change. A high will keep the south clear while directing heat into the west.
