Shahin Dezh County (Persian: شهرستان شاهین دژ) is a county in West Azerbaijan Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Shahin Dezh. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 89,356, in 20,911 families(Kurdish being the majority). The county is subdivided into two districts: the Central District and Keshavarz District. The county has two cities: Shahin Dezh, Mahmudabad, and Keshavarz.
Shahin Dezh (Persian: شاهين دژ; also Romanized as Shāhīn Dezh, Şā’īn Dezh, Shahindej, and Sahin Dazh; formerly, Sāīn Kaleh and Şā’īn Qal‘eh) is the capital city of Shahin Dezh County, in the West Azerbaijan Province, Iran.In the 2006 census, its population was 34,204,with 8,671 families.
Shahin Dezh is located southeast of Lake Urmia,about 1,300 metres above sea level. The population is made up of Azeri Turks and Kurdish and chahardoli. The city is mostly populated by Turks up to 60%, while some Kurdish villages can be found south and east of the city.
